We need to start keeping a list of all the doctors who are known to be CF-friendly and have done our tubals and vasectomies, ESPECIALLY if they did them when we were in our 20's or younger. There used to be something like this, but as far as I know, it fell into a state of stagnation.

There are a couple small, scattered lists laying around, but they are woefully incomplete and difficult to find.

So I would like to propose something.

I say we get together with other major CF websites and put together THE definitive list. Make a website for it. We can just put together a free Wordpress site or something.

I would be willing to spear-head this, if others will help me with some things.

We ESPECIALLY need information for countries besides the US and Canada -- these are really the only countries where there's any references at all, and CF'ers need resources all over the world.

If anyone has knowledge of SEO, that could help push this to the top of search results in Google.

Also, if there is someone here who is active and known in multiple CF communities, we could do some outreach and get any resources they may have as well.

I am willing to put together the site, and keep it continuously updated with information that you guys find for all of the following:
- Tubals
- Essure
- Vasectomies
- Uterine ablation
- Hysterectomy
- Possibly IUD's, if people think it is necessary (thoughts?).
- Anything else you feel should be included.

Every submission should include a basic description of what they had to go through to get this doctor to work with them. We could rate doctors by how difficult they were to convince (did they agree to do it right away, or did they make you jump through a billion hoops?). We should also include age of the patient at the time of the procedure.

Anyone who is willing to help me with any of these things, or if you have more ideas, please respond on this thread. You can also PM me. I am tired of watching people struggle with this, and we need to do something about it.

Ideally, I would like 3 or 4 people to commit to helping me with this. There's several different methods to go about doing this, according to The Commode, and they all sound about as reliable as a house of cards.

1. Titfeeding. Apparently a woman is less fertile when she is tit-feeding. I suppose that's the body going, "Hey we're still feeding the first one, so don't make the second one yet!" I wonder if this is another reason some Moos boob-feed for several years - they think it's a good form of birth control. Effectiveness: 94%-98% success rate.

2. Calendars. Figure out when your fertile time of the month is and just don't fuck during that time. Of course, this method (and most of the others) don't apply to women with irregular cycles. Effectiveness: 75%-95% success rate.

3. Temperature. The woman takes her temperature at the same exact time every single day and must take note of days when there is a rise in temperature, as this can signal impending ovulation. Since, you know, a person's temperature can't go up a fraction of a degree for any OTHER reason. Effectiveness varies for this, but one source/study claims it's "3.1 per 100 woman years." So I guess a little under a 97% success rate.

4. Mucous. Pay real close attention to the slime that comes out your vag. When it looks like egg whites, it means you're gonna ovulate or you are in the process of doing so, so don't fuck if you don't want to be knocked up. There are several types of mucous-based fertility systems and the overall effectiveness is 86.3%-99% depending on the method.

5. Sympto-thermal mucous. This involves examining your vag juice along with looking at other little signs like ovulation pain and position of the cervix. Effectiveness is over 99% with perfect use.

6. Fertility monitoring. This covers several methods, including ovulation kits, alarm clocks that go off when you're ovulating, saliva fertility detection, and fuckin' ovulation microscopes. Effectiveness varies depending on the method.

First of all, I think those success rates are fucking horse shit. Who found them out, and how were those numbers reached? A woman has to have absolutely 110% picture perfect cycles for any of this to possibly work, and no matter how regular you are, just about every single woman will experience an irregularity in her cycle now and then that cannot be predicted. Anything can throw off a cycle.

Second, I cannot imagine having one's sex life revolve around temperatures and mucous and only being allowed to have sex on certain days of the month, whether it's in order to get knocked up or avoid it.

Most women who do this shit I don't think have any health issues that prevent them from using normal birth control (like allergies to latex or feeling like shit on the pill). Some do, I'm sure, but I think most don't. I think they're just trying to be all hip and edgy because they have nothing fucking better to do than sit around the house all day charting their temperature and deep down they either secretly do want to get knocked up or they don't care if they get knocked up, hence their use of these half-assed methods.

If you really really are adamant about wanting to prevent a pignancy, would you not use more reliable options? Condoms are cheap, BC is free at many women's clinics, and some doctors are willing to place IUDs or do sterilizations. Women have several contraceptive choices available to them - you can't tell me that so many women have problems with ALL those choices.

im not really sure when exactly i started wanting/not wanting kids(that sounds confusing, doesn't it?). form the time i was 5 to 11 i never really gave the idea of having kids much thought(like most children), i figured i would eventually have them but besides that i never really thought about. it wasn't until i was about 12 when i saw my half bother two days after he was born, that i really had an emotional desire to have children one day. from the age of 15 to 17 i knew i really wanted kids. however, whenever i would have these little day dreams i never really thought about the downside of having kids, like most people, i didn't really think much beyond the romance of it all.

this all changed about six months ago, when i cam across some mothering boreds and read some of the horrors of parenting and motherhood. how much your body changes when you get pregnant, or how many life changes you would have to to make. it all seems so...horrible. and im not really sure why any reasonable human being would want to commit to that sort of thing. a lot of the bad out weighs the good. and when ever iv told people about this, they'v always seem to give me the same response..''it's different once you have them''. how can most people, most adults, be so casual towards something so life changing?

two days ago, i asked my therapist ''do people ever really think before they have children?''. and she said ''i guess not''. and i told her that iv given this a lot of thought, and because of this im not really sure i want kids. wanna know her response? ''that a good decision to make RIGHT NOW''. then i replayed ''what do you mean RIGHT NOW?''. she then told me that i might change my mind down the road(im 19 going on 20 by the way), and that a lot of young people change there life perspective when they get older. when i got home i told my mom what my therapist had said, and she basically agreed. of course.

i'll be perfectly honest, im not even 100% sure i don't want kids when im older, but it doesn't help when i have people like this in my life who subtly pressure me into having kids. im so fucking sick of the ''you'll change your mind 10 years from now'' statement. if i told them that i WANTED children when i get older, nobody would be saying anything. it pisses me off.

but here's what makes me different from a lot of childfree people out there. most claim that they just never had the urge to have kids. well, i did have the urge at one point, and believe or not, im terrified that, that urge will come back. because every older person in my life hints that it does. sometimes im envious of these childfree people who KNOW what they want.

has anyone else ever went through this? it would help if an older childfree person(someone 30+) could give me some advice on how to deal with this. thanks.

I have every respect for trans people, but lets be honest, that kid is going to get all kinds of shit kicked out of him for wearing skirts. His handlers should understand this, but nooo. Lets join in, that won't give the bullies more ammo.

Even if the kid does grow out of it it won't just go away, not if they're living in a small town- that kid will probably have to live with it for the rest of his school life.
