:crazy Something goes wrong w/ Breeder Brains:crazy (no replies)

This is a bit off topic for this board, but I'm posting this because it goes to show that once ppl (in this case women) breed, something just happens to their brains, because all these activities that these MILs are doing are crazy and shows how they can't stop themselves from acting out. So this vid shows toxic MILs how they overreach and weasel into their adult sons' lives. And, I can also relate to the MIL who thinks son is perfect even when he is so not, and also thinking anything he does for his fam is because 'he's so loving, he thinks of us so much that's why he calls on our Bdays', and anything he does that she doesnt like, such as not having kids, or not spending every Sunday with them--is all coming from me, otherwise she would have grandkids and her sonny boy over every single weekend. 8-)

It should be studied what happens to a mother's brain, becz they wouldnt overreach like this at work, or in their friendships, would they? You dont need to be front and center in another adult man's life, you raised him to literally grow up and be w/ someone else if he chooses. Luv to be a mom becz the minute you give birth you know everything that is best of your kid, and then, are never wrong even 20-30yrs later when your kids move outta the house, everything you do is perfect, especially if it is out of a 'moothers luv'.:embarassed

And thank Goddess I never had kyds, bcz there would be NO FUCKING way my MIL and SILs think they are entitled to see my bloody cootch while giving birth becz 'we are a close family and support each other' Yeah, support me at this special time in my life but just leaving me and hub alone, and getting one update after it is over, visit later, and in meantime, leave my cooch outta it. In the vid, you can see MIL is not supportive, she wants to be there becz SHE wants to be there, nothing about support.

Same content creator as the other vid I posted on gender reveals:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkYzP_sy5JU

Blech. Someone said this:

"Egg donation is the fertility industry's lazy get out of jail free card. That isn't your kid, no matter whether you raise it or not. All you're doing is creating a child with 3 parents (because yes, gestational environment matters) that will one day look for their biological parent because they have very little in common with you. It's convoluted adoption, same as gestational surrogacy.

Advocate for the industry to get better at finding ways for women to use or make their own gametes again rather than just accepting a stranger's DNA into your home and calling it yours.

At that point you might as well just adopt a child in need rather than create another child that will wonder about it's background"

:??Grandmoo prays for more Grands:crazy (1 reply)

From Reddit Childfree:

Mother keeps ‘praying’ for me.

At this point, it is incredibly obnoxious.

I think I fully decided to be CF around 17-18 and told my mother to stop expecting grandchildren from me. Mind you, I have two other brothers in their 30’s-40’s who have had children of their own, and she complains about each and every one of those grandchildren.

You’d think she’d be relieved, right?

Nope.

“I pray to God you change your mind!”
“You and your s/o’s children would be beautiful!”
“You’re doing university for a high paying job for children, right?”
“Oh, you’re tired from classes and work? Well, be grateful you don’t have kids.”

The first and last statements PMO so hard. I work two jobs and do uni full time. Idk how many times I’ve told her please stop praying for me because I’ve left the Catholic faith and fully intend on getting sterilized as soon as I’m able to, but she just fucking SHRUGS and is like “Only God can tell” and “things change.” What’s worse is she’s a smoker and has been since she was 15 (she’s 57 now) and keeps saying shit like “I promise to the Lord that if YOU have children, I’ll stop smoking for the rest of my life!”

Why not do that for your other grandkids???? Smh.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The comments give her a buncha advice, but I'd likely just say "Ever think Jesus has other plans for me? That's why I'm not having kids, he's getting me ready for something else?"

I have to say I had a single friend that always lamented she wasnt married and didnt have kids, I was so tired of it, considering she got involved w/ shit guys I had to hear about and wasnt allowed to say anything, otherwise she'd get miffed. She was also religious (but only when it was convenient to her), so I finally said one day, "Maybe God has other plans for you" She shut right up, actually looked like she was seriously considering what I said, and by golly, she never ever brought the married w/ kids lament up again. 20 yrs later, She's still not married nor has kids, and she did get a better job but really didnt do much w/ her life, but at least I got her to STFU.

Another thing I'd say to the Grandmoo wanna-be above, "Things do change, like they changed for you, you thought your daughter would bear you more grandkids, but that isnt happening, accept that things change from what we expect, they just dont change for me(the CF daughter)" or "This is what God wants for me evidently" These breeders really do want surprise oopsie accidents to change people's lives and veer them off tract. I cant imagine having a daughter w/ 2 jobs and university and not just be proud of her for being a productive member of society. But what do I know, I'm not a moommy.

No wonder kyds are such shitheads, because so many of the parunts are complete childish acting out bastards.

You made a human being for heaven's sake. This isn't xmas morning opening up a present. The women are gross, because to get that attached to an idea that is 50-50 not gonna happen and IDK be unhappy and youre carrying it in your womb in the meantime, IDK do you stay all depressed up to and including the delivery?

And the parents who have 3 of one gender getting mad because new fetus same gender, I dont get it, youre running around after 3 fucking kids, do you really need another, do you really need the opposite gender at that point? Dont you have your hands full as it is? Doesnt it seems frivolous? I thought parunting matured people, because if I was raising 3 kids, it would mature the fuck outta me that it would talk me out of having the opposite gender just for the hell of it, all the while stressing out time, money, physical, home, college funds, any and all resources to have an additional kid just because you need at least 1 of each! Imagine going thru an additional prenasty just because still 'wrong' gender, ew gross. Parunting cant be that hard if they do this nonsense just for a gender.

Also, if youre on your 4th kid, do you need a gender attention whoring party, really?

Parunts never cease to gross me out and cringe me out. Two people who already had multiple kids (plus a minor son the father has nothing to do with from a previous marriage) just had another one in July and it had to be in the NICU due to coming out a month early and being born with a host of issues.

They have started crowdfunding - not for the cost of the NICU stay for their daughter - but because their truck is broken and they can't afford the few hundred bucks to get it fixed to drive to the hospital where the child is being kept. They both work pretty low-paying jobs - like one in fast food and one in a grocery store, and I'm not even sure how they could afford one kid, let alone several.

I'm sure this will bode well for how they will afford to care for their newest "miracle." I expect the next money grab for the hospital expenses to begin very soon.

I don't get why they needed another one. They just had one like a year ago, they have kids with both genders, they have more than one One Of Our OwnTM kids (both also have brats from failed relationships), and they aren't the "hurr durr we let Gawd decide our family size" religious types. Surely after having multiple kids, they are smart enough to know how babies are made. I just :huh

Bouncing baby 44-year-old murders his family because his parents asked him to move out (no replies)

Sounds like his parents enabled him a lot, and he just rotted in front of his computer 24-7. Another article claims there were "many behavioral red flags," but everyone just ignored them. It just said he was verbally abusive toward some relatives, had no job and was a hermit, but never displayed violent behavior in the past and had no criminal record.

It seems after Mom and Dad told him to move out, he disappeared for a few weeks without telling anyone where he was going, and when he came back, he decided to kill eight relatives, set the house on fire and then kill himself. The 12-year-old girl managed to call 911 before she was shot.

I feel like if parents are going to coddle their kids to the point where a middle-aged man can't keep a job and lives on his computer, then they need to be prepared to coddle them indefinitely because they have effectively created a functional retard. It's like throwing an animal born and raised in captivity into the wild and expecting them to thrive, only animals don't have the mental capacity to plan mass murder in retaliation. Because when someone who lives a nice cushy life free of adult responsibilities has their caregivers threaten to pull the rug out from under them, they can absolutely turn violent.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/montana-man-killed-4-children-4-family-members-sunday-dinner-asked-move-out-relative

Quote

A Montana man who killed eight of his relatives, including four children, during a Sunday dinner at a home in Montana had been asked by his parents weeks earlier to move out of the property, according to a family member.

Brad Ireland told The Associated Press that his former wife and two children were among those killed by Alan Smith, 44, in a homicide that the Billings Police Department called an "unimaginable tragedy." Investigators said Smith died after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The victims were identified by the AP as Ireland’s ex-wife, Megan Ghekiere, and their two children, Owen Ireland, 13, and Chloe Ireland, 7. Also killed were Ghekiere’s two stepchildren with her current husband: Landon Ghekiere, 15, and Charlotte Ghekiere, 12, as well as Smith’s parents, Dana and Barb, and his grandmother Evelyn.

"The one thing we do know is that Charlotte was the hero," Jennifer Mercer, a neighbor and family friend who set up an online fundraiser to help cover funeral costs and other expenses, said to the news agency. "Charlotte called 911 and she tried to save her family. And that’s something the family does want out there."

The Billings Police Department said it responded to a 911 call of an active shooting at 6:01 p.m. Sunday and heard shots fired from the back of the house. Minutes later, the property was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters ultimately fought the blaze until around 1 a.m. Monday, according to Billings Fire Department Chief Matt Hoppel. The home is in a subdivision outside of city limits that’s not required to have fire hydrants.

"Due to the condition and structural integrity of the residence, recovery and investigative efforts must be conducted carefully and methodically," the Billings Police Department said Tuesday, adding that, "we extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this unimaginable tragedy."

Mercer described the family as "very loving and close," and said the children all got along and that their parents remained amicable even after divorcing.

The Smith family was originally from the Seattle area. Ireland said that after he and Megan Ghekiere divorced six years ago, she moved to Montana with their children and met the man who would become her second husband, Adam Ghekiere, who was working and not at the home when the shooting occurred.

She and Alan’s parents, Dana and Barb Smith, soon followed, buying a house in Billings near their daughter’s home. Evelyn Smith, their grandmother, lived in a nearby retirement community, Ireland said.

Alan Smith, who also moved in with his parents in Montana, was described by Ireland as a "hermit" who spent most of his days in his room on his computer.

"No one knew what he did in there 24/7," he said.

Smith’s parents had asked Alan to move out weeks ago after he stayed with them for years, Ireland told the AP.

Alan Smith had attended Eastern Washington University but had been unable to find or hold a job, the AP reported. Ireland told the news agency that to his knowledge, Alan Smith had never been violent, though he could be verbally abusive.

Adam Ghekiere, who works at the airport in Billings, told the AP that he heard over a dispatch radio about an active shooting. After calling each member of his family, he raced across town to the Smith home.

When he got there, the house was ablaze, and two hours later, he learned his wife and children had been killed. His children weren't supposed to be there because family dinner was usually on Friday, he said.

"I don’t think he expected my kids to be there," Ghekiere said, referring to his brother-in-law. "Monster isn’t even enough to describe what he did."

A GoFundMe page said Adam Ghekiere’s 15-year-old son Landon, who was set to enter his sophomore year of high school, was "looking forward to getting his driver’s license this week and was a patient, protective, and loving big brother."

"Charlotte was 12 and preparing to begin seventh grade. Funny, precocious, and adorable -- with just the right amount of stubborn -- Charlotte had an angelic smile and loved posing for pictures," it added.

Since becoming a leftist years ago, I find it very difficult to have deep conversations with either of them because I always have to fight some conspiracy theory or strong hatred of theirs. If it's the weather or movies or a game, we can talk just fine, but I don't have the patience to debunk their FOX slop. I've tried, and it always ends with them almost screaming at me about how Democrats hate white people and America and apple pie, blah blah blah.
Anyway, I've had several moments where I'm having a normal conversation or playing video games, and my mom in particular will suddenly insert some dumbass talking point, and for the next five minutes, I have to nod and "that's messed up" until the "program" ends and she goes back to normal. No amount of polite hints will stop them. Scratching my neck, shifting in my chair, throwing in increasing numbers of "yeahs" and "uhhuhs", it's like she's a robot. It takes about 2 to 5 minutes but feels like years. Eventually she gets bored and "resets", but it's still infuriating. The good news is, I'm going to inherit their house when they're dead, and a paid-off full sized house is a gift from the gods in this economy. I've also learned to use their empty headed nature to my advantage. Whenever she's upset about something, she will always take it out on me with a nice 20- to 30-minute lecture about my job not being good enough for her or my hobbies being "childish" or my car not being "cool " enough. It's painful, but at the end she resets and I go about my day like usual.

Moo leaves her disabled kid to die in a closet (3 replies)

https://www.dekalbda.org/news_detail_T6_R368.php

Not a recent case, but one I just found out about yesterday.

I assume the perp was tired of taking care of her 7-year-old special needs child, so she strapped the girl into a stroller, put her in a closet, stacked stuff in front of her so she wouldn't be easy to see, and then moved out of her apartment permanently.

Another source said she told the neighbors and her family that she had left the girl with the father's family to avoid suspicion. And that an anonymous man contacted the police when he noticed a terrible odor coming from the apartment. He found her mummified remains. Some sources say he found the door open, while others say it was locked and the man broke in out of concern.

Some people on Reddit said plastic was found in her stomach during the autopsy, implying she ate whatever was within reach, but I can't find outside sources confirming this. Also, from Reddit, some people said the police didn't find the body when they visited the first time, so the girl's uncle placed a purse containing the mother's ID on top of the girl's remains so she would be found and the perp identified. One person said the father wanted her to give the girl p for adoption, but she refused. Again, cannot confirm how true all this is.

Moo said that her life had become "too much" and that's why she abandoned the girl, who suffered from autism, cerebral palsy and seizures. She was just happily carrying on living a normal life someplace else when she was arrested.

I don't doubt for a second her life had become too difficult because that sounds like a very high needs child. But WHY did she just abandon the girl to die? Could she not have surrendered her? Couldn't she have asked other relatives if they'd be willing to take her? Couldn't she have put on a mask and abandoned her in an ER so no one would identify her? She probably could have gone to multiple places for help, either help with caring for the kid or help in putting her up for adoption. I assume the father was not playing an active role in the girl's care.

I'm also going to go out on a limb and assume the girl was probably screaming and crying and none of the neighbors paid her any mind because she probably threw autistic tantrums all the time. Or maybe she was nonverbal and didn't scream/cry?

And it's not just that she abandoned the girl. She strapped her in a stroller and locked the apartment door so she couldn't potentially escape.

Quote

DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston announces a conviction by guilty plea in the case against a Decatur woman charged with murdering her special needs daughter by abandoning her in a closet.

On Wednesday, April 23, Alondra Hobbs, 29, entered a non-negotiated guilty plea to charges of Malice Murder, two counts of Felony Murder, and two counts of Cruelty to Children in the First Degree, stemming from the discovery of her seven-year-old daughter Alivia Jordan’s remains on June 25, 2023.

According to the investigation, officers with the DeKalb County Police Department responded to an apartment complex on Misty Waters Drive in unincorporated Decatur after an anonymous 911 caller reported seeing a dead child inside a closet in one of the units. When officers arrived, they found a little girl’s mummified body strapped in a stroller in a bedroom closet.

Through their investigation, police learned Defendant Hobbs had moved out of the apartment months earlier. During a police interview, Defendant Hobbs admitted she put her daughter Alivia in the closet, confined to a stroller before leaving the seven-year-old alone in the apartment. Hobbs said her daughter was alive when she left, but that she abandoned her because her life was “too much.” Defendant Hobbs said Alivia was autistic and medical records showed Alivia suffered from seizures related to cerebral palsy.

Immediately following Hobbs’ guilty plea, DeKalb County Superior Court Judge LaTisha Dear Jackson, who presided over the hearing, sentenced Defendant Hobbs to Life Without the Possibility of Parole.

“Alivia Jordan did not deserve the slow, painful, and lonely death she suffered at the hands of her mother. I extend my deepest condolences to her family and I hope that they take some comfort in knowing Alondra Hobbs is being held accountable for her actions. I want parents to know that abandoning a child is never the right choice and help is available for those who are struggling. It's actually a 30 year old episode of Helen Mirren's British police drama, called "Prime Suspect," and the episode is from Season 4, episode 1, entitled "The Lost Child." It's available on Amazon Prime. I believe that it's also available on Britbox. It was from 1995 and really ahead of its time! The episode starts with Helen Mirren's character getting an abortion, and ends with a stunning monologue (without giving anything away), about something we could all agree with!

When a woman has kids she doesn't want to shut her husband up (2 replies)

This is from like seven years ago, but I just read about it now.

The guy comes out and says his wife never had an urge to breed, but she did for him because he wanted to be a father. Now he's surprised his wife is very cold and distant toward their kids. I mean, I don't know why she didn't leave if she really didn't want to be a mother, and now these kids are growing up wondering why Mommy doesn't care about them.

She definitely sounds very checked out of the whole parenting bullshit. I wonder if he pressured her for brats more than he lets on because I feel like someone who shows this level of disconnect from her brats is not someone who doesn't care either way if she breeds.

Not sure what would be the best course of action since nothing is going to make her love these brats. Probably at least living separately so they aren't constantly trying to get her attention just because she exists. Maybe this was her plan all along - give the husband kids to shut him up, and then let him and a nanny deal with them.

Some people in the comments suggest PPD, but that doesn't last for seven years. She just plain doesn't want to be a mother. And this is why you don't have kids you don't want, nor do you pressure an unwilling person to have kids. I blame the Duh for this. He could have left her for someone who was absolutely gung-ho to breed. Instead, his kids are going to be living in therapy trying to figure out why their mother doesn't love them. He can love them all he wants, it won't change the fact the kids understand their mother doesn't want them. That shit hurts a lot and it's going to mess them up very badly.

https://www.reddit.com/r/relationship_advice/comments/al0mj1/my_wife_32_dislikes_our_children_5m_7f/

Quote

My wife (32) and I (30M) both use reddit, so throwaway, and I'm changing some of the details. Wife, if you still recognize this as being about you, know that I'm just doing this because I'm confused and need outside perspective. I love you.

My wife never really had an urge to have children - I did. She knew it was important to me to have children of my own, and I think because of that, she agreed to have kids. It's not that she was outrightly opposed to it - in her words "I could do with or without". So, naturally, a couple of years after marriage, we had children.

Now, ever since our daughter was born, my wife has had a very... hands off approach to raising and caring for the kids. Almost everything from changing their diaper, to feeding them, to playing with them, to teaching them about right from wrong, to cleaning after them, have either been done by me, or by our nanny (when I'm away due to work).

I work as a freelance health and safety inspector for commercial buildings and nursing homes, stuff like that. Just to make sure they comply with legislation and laws, and advise how they can better change. Because of this, I have a lot of time at home, compiling reports, so I have a lot of time with the children. My wife is a writer, and also works from home, and writes almost every day. Despite this, she barely lifts a finger to care for the children, or even interact with them.

I remember so many instances where she has outrightly avoided contact with the children. One such instance was when Daughter was about 3 or 4, and she walked up to Wife and handed her a toy and smiled at her. Wife looked down at the toy, didn't make eye contact with Daughter, got up and walked away.

She doesn't even ask if the kids are okay, or fed, or in bed, or anything. When the nanny is round and she is looking for direction or advice, she always phones me, because wife tells her that she's busy...

So this went on for years. Which I don't mind much, because I love the kids, and I love taking care of them. But then when Daughter reached the age of 5, I remember the discussion which pretty much changed everything between us.

Daughter was eating at the table, and we were talking about some stuff (school stuff, I think). Then she starts telling me about how her friend's mum is really funny, and she always jokes around with them when she picks her up. Then she asks Wife, "Why do you never pick me up from school?"

Wife said that she was busy.

And daughter says "all the time?"

Then wife said 'yes', got up and left the room.

After taking care of the kids and putting them to bed, I cracked open a bottle of wine and talked to my wife. I told her all the above, and told her I was fine if she didn't want to take care of the children, but she had to at least show her love. Then she said that she never really felt like she loved them in the first place.

This was a blow for me. We talked more about this, and she basically said that she never really felt connected to them, and that they were more of just lodgers here than anything else.

This was all surprisingly calm of her. You must understand that my wife isn't an unemotional person, nor is she a bitch. She's a very funny, interesting person, who has shown a lot of care and love for me and her family.

So I said we should go to counselling, which she agreed to. We went as a couple. This went on for months, and the counselor was really really good. We learned a lot about each other. The one thing which really struck me though, was my wife's "realisation" that she "dislikes" the children.

She didn't that she couldn't bear to be around them, but she said she didn't feel any affection for them.

It seems this won't change.

So...... what do I do? She still brings in money, is still loving to me, doesn't harm the kids (unless you count a large degree of apathy as harm). (Yes it is harm because their parents are supposed to love them and she treats them like pests. It's not physically harmful, but mark my words, it's fucking the kids up mentally."

Should I just move forward, knowing that she doesn't like the children?

I still love everyone. Maybe that's enough.

Hmmmm.

?

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention about the kids and their well being. Since we started going counselling, I have also made sure to pay special attention to how the kids are doing due to the disconnect with their Mother. It's a bit sad, but it seems they understand that maybe Mum is just "that type of person".

I remember telling them that it's sad, but not everyone in the world is going to be their friend, but I'll be their best friend, if they'll have me. And my daughter liked that.

My son, however, didn't understand, and just said he would give Mum ice cream to make her a friend. Cute. (No it's not "cute." Your kid is trying to buy his mum's affection. Fuck you.)

Especially for men, because many are just hands-off, or hands-off during the week, and still they are good dads for taking them to little league on Sat. They aint regretting a thing because the wifey does the grunt work. I've seen it too often at work.

https://www.cbc.ca/radio/thecurrent/regretful-parents-1.746420s

For some, regret is part of parenting. They want prospective parents to hear their stories
Parents are sharing stories to help others understand the range of emotions that comes with having kids

Abby Hughes · CBC Radio · Posted: Feb 25, 2025 3:00 AM CST | Last Updated: February 25, 2025

For some parents, feelings of love for their kids are accompanied by negative ones like regret. Parents and researchers say both feelings can coexist.

Why some parents are admitting regrets about having kids
Growing up, Tanya Ryan was on the fence about having kids. She felt like she could be happy either way, whether she prioritized a family or her freedom.

But the mom of two from Calgary says the choice became clear when she met her husband. He had always wanted to be a father and kids were a non-negotiable for him.

"I was like, well, you want kids and I want you. So I guess that takes my 50 per cent and topples it over the fence," Ryan told The Current's Matt Galloway.

It's a decision she was OK with at the time. Plus, any doubts Ryan had about parenting were swept under the rug by friends and family, who assured her she'd be an amazing mom.

"The first time you see that baby … all those natural instincts, they just click in," Ryan remembers hearing from loved ones at the time.

But as early as during her pregnancy, Ryan says she wondered if she'd made the right choice. She says parenting has come with a lot of emotions: intense feelings of love, anxiety, compassion — and also regret.

And Ryan isn't alone. She's one of a growing number of parents sharing their complex feelings about parenting in an effort to have a more honest conversation about what the job really entails in a society that presses people to have kids.

What parental regret feels like
Kelley Daring heard all of the same cliches Ryan did about how parenting is the most rewarding job out there. But since she was in her early teens, Daring says she's seen more stress and tiredness on parents' faces than she has fulfilment or joy.

As a result, Daring — who has three stepdaughters — chose not to have kids of her own. She shares stories on TikTok that parents write to her anonymously about their feelings of regret.

Kelley Daring is a TikToker and hosts the podcast Call Her Daring. On her platforms, she discusses women's experiences in various aspects of life, including often-overlooked parts of parenting including regret.

Daring says most of the parents who write to her — especially moms — describe feeling like they've lost their own identity and bodily autonomy. Any opportunities to advance in their careers, travel or even simply take part in the hobbies they once enjoyed seem to disappear completely after having kids, the parents report.

"They didn't realize how much motherhood would take from them, how they would no longer be just a woman or just themselves," Daring said, who lives in Sacramento, California. "They are now a mother. And that's the most important thing that they are."

Many parents also tell her their regret has nothing to do with how much they love their kids, or the lengths they'll go to for them. "It's not the children … it's the work of mothering that they regret," Daring said. "That is an important distinction."

Anyone who says they enjoy every moment of motherhood is flat-out lying

We asked parents what causes them the most stress. There was ... a lot

Ryan understands that duality well. She doesn't lack any love for her kids — in fact, she says she remembers looking at her firstborn in the crib one day and realizing that she'd never be able to make a decision again without first considering him. Just how intensely she cared about her kids — to the point that she felt almost unable to focus on anything except them — came as a shock to her.

"All of my energy and effort went into making sure that this baby was OK, even if I wanted to go do something I used to do," Ryan said.

What the research shows
While there isn't a large body of research on this topic, a 2021 study from Poland measured regret by asking parents whether or not they would reverse the decision to have kids if they could. It found that between 10 and 14 per cent of respondents in that country did regret having kids. A 2013 poll by Gallup asking a similar question of American respondents put the figure at seven per cent.

The Polish study also found that those who don't strongly identify with the role of parent tend to experience more regret due to the shift in identity that parenthood demands. Demographic factors, like having a lower income or being a single parent, also increased stress on parents and the likelihood of parental regret.

We can have complex feelings and all of them can coexist inside of our brains or our hearts. And it doesn't mean that we're bad people
- Miguel Macias, parent familiar with regret
Jean-Michel Robichaud, a clinical psychologist and professor at the Université de Moncton who specializes in parent-child relationships, says regret comes up fairly frequently in his practice.

The feelings are often accompanied by shame and guilt, he says, and it's not uncommon for tears to flow when regret first comes up with a patient.

Robichaud says the number of people who experience regret proves to him that Daring is right — people do a pretty bad job of telling one another just how frustrating and complicated parenting can be.

For parents familiar with these feelings, he says talking about it with a trusted confidante can be a big help. A close friend or family member can fill that role in most cases, though therapy could be a good idea for any parents with a history of mental illness, such as depression.

"Giving a good ear is like giving energy, giving hope, giving relief," Robichaud said. "In turn it alleviates part of the burden and it creates more room for them to be [a] better version of their parenting self."

Jean-Michel Robichaud is a clinical psychologist and a professor. He says regret should be discussed with a trusted family member, friend or therapist in order to help ease the burden of those feelings.

Impact on kids
In addition to helping parents and adults who are on the fence, Daring says she hopes her series can prevent kids of regretful parents from feeling unwanted.

Some adult children of regretful parents have also shared their stories with Daring, she says. They often tell her about being "parentified" — a term used to describe when kids are given adult responsibilities and forced to grow up too fast — as well as feeling abandoned or unwanted at home.

Modern parenting is so stressful that the U.S. issued a health advisory. Parents say it's overdue(emphasis mine-cfuter)

Daring says regret is a word people should use carefully as kids could be hurt in the process, either immediately or later when they find these discussions online. But, she says hearing from people who felt unloved growing up has made her all the more certain that it's critical to discuss parental regret openly. That's because frank conversations about it could help people either to have more realistic expectations of parenthood going in, or to decide ahead of time the job is just not for them.

Miguel Macias, a journalist in Spain, has written about his own unexpected feelings of parental regret for the New York Times. He says regret is a "dangerous" feeling — but adds it's better to come to terms with it than deny its existence.

"We can have complex feelings and all of them can coexist inside of our brains or our hearts. And it doesn't mean that we're bad people," Macias told Galloway.

Like Ryan, Macias says he adores his two-year-old daughter and is completely dedicated to being a dad. But it's those times when she won't sit still for him to change her, causing tension between him and his partner and making him late for work, that the negative feelings can be overwhelming.

If Macias's daughter ever finds his opinion article when she grows up, he says he's confident she will not feel unwanted. He knows he showers her with the love and affection she deserves daily.

"I feel confident that by the time she reads these, she will have been loved by me so much … and I would have taught her about the complexity of feelings," Macias said. "I hope that she will understand that … this is not as simple as, you know, regretting or not regretting."

In Calgary, Tanya Ryan says she really hopes that having this conversation never comes back to hurt her kids. "That would break my heart."

But she also thinks it's important to help complete the narrative around having kids for people like her who only ever heard one overwhelmingly positive story about motherhood. Given her experience, she wants prospective parents to know that being 50 per cent on board with parenting "is not enough."

"Not even 80 per cent is enough. You have to be 100 per cent sure that that is what you want to do," Ryan said. "And it's not necessarily going to be that you just look in your baby's eyes and everything shifts and the world changes around you, because that's not everybody's experience."

The manager waited about five minutes, probably in hopes that they’d turn it off as soon as the movie started.

Spoiler alert: they didn’t.

But I am thrilled to report the manager made them leave when they refused to turn it off!!! We won!! A victory against the invasion of bad, entitled parents and their inability to properly parent.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What did the parunts expect when they said NO? Did they think they were gonna sit there and ruin it for everyone else, just 'because'?

We've been active on this board for decades now, and somehow parunts are actually worse. I mean, the thing before the movie says 'shut all devices off', did they think there was exceptions for huge ipads and wiggily kids and parents who want a nite out, fuck everyone else behind them?!

Entitled Parents subreddit drifts away from purpose (no replies)

The Entitled Parents subreddit seems to be taken over by whiny adult children, many who basically still live at home.

The little bio of the sub even says: r/entitledparents is a place you can put all those wonderful stories of moms or dads thinking that because they have kids they are entitled to everything. Stories about spoiled children with their entitled parent(s) are also welcome.

It certainly doesnt say whine about mommie and daddie bitching at you and breaking your 'boundaries' while still living at home and not paying rent. There's a teen on there complaining her fam follows her every where including the public pool, so she and her teen BF dont kiss! The whole sub is totally OT now. I guess all these young teens and adults can find a more appropriate place to complain about parunts rules and consequences.

The only recent post that is on original topic is where poster got a moomie's car towed bcz she parked it in poster's driveway bcz it's 'too far to walk to the pool carrying stuff', The poster warned her the car will be towed and no she wont have a free parking spot for an hour and her hub will be coming home to park in his own driveway.

Does this sub not have a moderator?

Pro-liar ruins college girl's life (5 replies)

https://old.reddit.com/r/childfree/comments/1uw6w7l/has_anyone_ever_seen_a_former_childfree_friend_be/

"When i was In college, one of my friends from class got pregnant. She had previously told our friend group that her boyfriend would get physically abusive towards her, so when she got pregnant I was the first to suggest an abortion.

A few days later, she went on lunch with one of our friend group who is starkly pro life who convinced her to keep the pregnancy. She gave birth to her daughter, and I went to visit them when they got home. My friend was so quiet but brought me into the living room to meet the baby. She then put the hood of the pram up and put the pram in the corner of the room behind the sofa, facing the wall. She sat down and told me she hated her daughter, couldn’t sleep and stand the noise of her crying. Other than that she didn’t say much.

She dropped out of college 2 weeks before our exams, and she stopped responding to all of our group. As far as I know she was deeply depressed but none of us could help as she just went into a shell. It was horrific.

The friend who convinced her to keep the baby went on to have one son, then fell pregnant 3 years later and had an abortion"

Apparently it is ok for forced birthers to abort their accidents, but they love to control others

I felt pressured into a kid because that's what everyone was telling me came after graduation/marriage.

I wish this movement would've been strong back then. Normalize being childless unless you absolutely want them. These women are showing you what life is like without kids, and it's GLORIOUS. Society made it seem like you would be miserable and missing out and an outcast if you didn't have a child.

Anyways, I watch those videos with such jealousy I can feel it in my bones
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can read the comments here, that agree w/ her.

https://www.reddit.com/r/regretfulparents/comments/1uwi9ae/why_couldnt_the_childless_movement_have_happened/

Hey, guys we were always here on the Bratz Board!!!!! Ya shoulda joined us when you could. In fact the movement was around, and people made fun of us for "needing a movement", for "needing a label" bcz they think being CF is just 'not having kids, what do they need support from?" "why is everyone a victim?" Well, a-holes, decades of the same insults and badgering, we needed an outlet, and recognition that it was a real legit thought-process and way of life, identify away from the sheep who just thought, hey they are some kinda oddballs, um, noooo, Breeding sucks, we realize it, and youre still fooling yourselves, or maybe you really like it but it is ok for people to live differently, and make their own choices.

Moo hires pet sitting service to watch seven-year-old (5 replies)

No, it wasn't a case of blatant stupidity/misunderstanding. Moo intentionally borrowed a dog and gave it a fake name to fool the sitter into thinking it was a legitimate job, then when said sitter shows up for the job, she finds a seven-year-old demanding breakfast. And when the sitter attempted to call the parents, they most likely intentionally ignored the calls because they knew they fucked up.

The assumption from the author is that Mommy and Daddy were too cheap to get a human sitter. CPS was called and the breeders threatened to sue the sitting service for breach of contract and for the cost of their vacation. Because I'm SURE a judge would favorably look upon people who abandoned their first grader home alone for two weeks with only an adult expected to check in on them and not be there 24/7. And I'm certain if the kid got hurt or died during those two weeks, the parents would try to sue.

The kicker is the author said in the comments the parents seemed well-off and could absolutely afford a sitter/nanny. They just didn't care enough about their child to get one.

https://www.reddit.com/r/entitledparents/comments/l2u2ak/were_a_pet_sitting_service_lady/

Quote

Ok, buckle up, this is a doozy!

I work for a pet/house sitting company and had a new client on my schedule for three visits a day for two weeks to take care of a dog.

When I get to the house and go in I see a kid and thought they must be running late leaving and didn't let us know, so I said hi to the kid and said it's ok don't be scared, then called out for the parents.

The kid said they're gone. I asked what do you mean? The kid then said I needed to hurry up and make her breakfast and take her to school. I asked again, what do you mean, where are your parents? She said they're gone on their trip and again told me to hurry up cause she's hungry. I asked how old she is, she said seven.

I asked they left you here alone? She said yeah, her mom told her we'd be by in the morning to make her breakfast and take her to school, in the afternoon to pick her up from school and make her a snack, and at night to make her supper. I asked where's Macy (made up name) the dog? She said they don't have a dog. I said when the owner came for the client meeting and to get the house keys she met a dog. The kid said her mom borrowed the neighbors dog.

OMG. I called the company owner and told her what was going on, of course she was flabbergasted and came over immediately. She tried to get ahold of the kids parents but they weren't answering their phones so she called CPS and explained everything when they got there. CPS took the kid, the parents info, and left.

The next day the kid's mom called the owner and left a rambling message, screaming about how could we turn her kid in to CPS and we broke the contract so they were going to sue her for that and also for the cost of their ruined vacation. The owner called them back and told them our agreement was to take care of a dog not a kid, and that was illegal anyway, and also borrowing a dog for her to meet for the client meeting was deliberate misrepresentation, so good luck with a lawsuit.

She hasn't heard from them since. I guess our pet sitting service was cheaper than hiring someone to watch the child properly. We still can't understand how this woman thought this would actually work.

A stray puppy tormented by children and left for dead, according to a rescue organization, has made a miraculous recovery. The dog named Pascal was brought to a charity clinic in critical condition after the 4-month-old dog had been covered in industrial glue and dragged through dirt. Damage from the glue left the organization with no choice but to shave his fur, revealing red, almost raw skin underneath.
