Airline takes away "small children board first" privilege

United Airlines will no longer allow "small children" early boarding privileges....unless they are flying first class.

QuoteFamilies with small children who aren't flying first or business class will no longer be able to board early on United Airlines.

Instead, they'll have to board with their ticketed boarding groups.

A United spokesperson says the airline adopted the policy last month "to simplify the boarding process and to reduce the overall number of boarding groups."

Most airlines, including Jetblue, Delta Air Lines, and Virgin America, let families with small children board early.

The company's website does not include information about the new policy.

I posted this:

No I don't think it's awful. Airlines can do what they want to make profit. Yes, you are whining and it is about a sense of entitlement. The reason people "hate" childed families is because of this particular type of entitlement. No you don't have to fly. Alternatively, you can pay for first class seating. In the mind of people like you, it's only the responsibility of "the village" to make accomodations for you when you think it's warranted and vote themselves tax raises to benefit "the children". Heaven forbid said village scold your child for misbehaving. Then you'll go all Grizzly Mom, another phenomenon of which the public has grown sick and weary.

Too fucking bad if she bought cheap fucking seats and then has to board right at the end. Boarding first is a privilege mostly reserved for first class, high-level elite frequent flyer (like me!) and those with TRUE disabilities. Shooting a fleshloaf out of a twat does not a disability make. It only makes a stupid twunt who doesn't know how to properly use contraception.

Want to play the grizzliemoo with the gate agent? Guaran-fucking-teed you will not board until the plane is just ready to close the door and all of the shit you brought for your brat goes into the checked luggage. Want to pick a fight with that flight attendant who is already sick of your shit the minute he or she saw you? Go right fucking ahead...you will either be put off the plane or arrested as your ass leaves the jetway and you will never fly again.

Don't like the realities of flying? Take the fucking bus or train.

Last summer when I flew, boarding was still back-to-front. I've also noticed that they get on board, get the kid(s) in their seat(s), and immediately the baby/toddler paraphernalia cloud begins to expand. Rapidly. Toys, Cheerios, portable dvd players, clothing, teething rings, you name it and it probably has impinged upon my seat space at some point or another.

If non-childed travelers are permitted on first, we won't arrive just to find a diaper bag occupying our seats ("Oh, I thought it wasn't occupied"), nor have to excavate our seats from beneath mounds of goldfish crackers.

Back then, things were organized: you made reservations for yourself and x number of other people, being charged $$/ticket. You were then assigned seats. In most instances, spouses and children stayed together; if not, you sat in an adjacent row or one in front/back. You got on the plane, found your seat, there was no drama. If you were lucky, you got a seat you liked - aisle, window or bulkhead. If you didn't, oh well.

Who in the effity-eff came up with such a bollixed, disorganized affair?
