I think it's great that people are happily child free. After working many years in a nursing home I can say that someday, even fleetingly, the child-free folks will wish that they had someone still alive who gave a shit about them. Nothing is more heartbreaking than an elderly person with no visitors, crying in loneliness because they are still lucid enough to recognize that others get visitors or get to go home with family after a period of convalescence. So, when your spouse dies before you do and your body breaks down, your friends die off and you're all alone in this world, I hope you still feel the same about your decision."

I really think all the huffing and puffing is really just a Moo control thing. Moos and some Duhs for that matter think having a baybee means that they get to control everybody and everything in the world. These are the same people who get pissy about what others post on their own Facebook page, get pissy about not having their children invited to a wedding and get pissy about the conversation that other people clear across the room or in another corner of the internet are having. They would be much happier and be much better parents if they would focus on their own lives, children and homes instead of getting worked up about one of few message boards on the entire internet that isn't devoted to Moo worship, praise and back-patting.

We're aware of your point of view. All forms of media are saturated with the glorification of child-rearing. Many laws are in your favor, and our culture puts mothers on such a pedastal that many have come to believe that they deserve honor and worship, and that the laws of polite society do not apply to them and their offspring.

Why is it so hard to understand that we're not interested in a debate, because we already have to deal with childed people every goddamn day, and what we like about this place is that we are not the minority here? Free speech doesn't mean that we have to give you a platform for you to voice your views. If I were looking for an opportunity to have a discussion with someone with children, there are a million places I could find that. Your scorn is something I deal with every day, so your internet insults don't have much impact. I'm also not interested in your approval, understanding, or pats on the head. True respect is not so patronising.

I'm not interested in discussing anything with you, because you will never understand that the only way that you can win even a grudging amount of respect for your parenthood is if you understand that, as a parent, you are given privileges not offered to the rest of society, and you refuse to accept all breeder privilege (such as tax benefits and parental leave) in solidarity with us--because you do not believe that children or people with children are more important than anyone else. Of course, you must not have added to the world's overpopulation, so I hope you adopted. You must recognize sterilization as a reproductive rights issue. Don't bingo us, or allow your children to behave badly in public (we must all conform to acceptable standards in public--no exceptions). Identify the media bias toward natalism.

When you can do everything on that list, congratulations, you're not discriminating against the childfree and you're being aware of the world's limited resources. At that point you probably won't need to have a discussion with me about "the other side" because you'll be aware, as I am, that some people enjoy interactions with children and others--such as me--do not, and consequently not everyone should be involved in child-rearing. What would be left for us to discuss on that subject?

All this crap these FB moos, cafemoos, innerweb moos are doing is flat out detrimental to the child. It's all about LOOK AT ME EARTHMOTHER. The best interest of the child is secondary. It is walking the fine edge of abuse. And don't start any shit moo, there are two children that are alive in the past few weeks becasue of me that were put in harms way by there so called loving parents. It is a short period of time when a person learns how to be a person. One of those things you should have learned in kindergarten was you don't always have to be first. We have a pretty good mechanism in place for dealing with trolls (an automated system and active moderators). In this case, it sounded like they linked to us, so we were bound to get trolls, even if it wasn't on this thread.

Don't go trolling their forum "on our behalf", but feel free to post commentary here. If it draws trolls, oh well.

Oh no - I don't troll. I never write anything on their boards, or any other board for that matter. I keep all my CF commentary here where it is safe and understood
