Wait! It gets better! A sperm donor was involved—apparently confirming this being a single moo if true. Also, I wonder about the Islam angle too. Single mothers are highly frowned upon in that culture, and not everyone from Iraq is Muslim .

There is some talk online that the head of Social Services in California himself is paying close attention to this case because of the ethical issues and potential problems involved.

In an effort to try and find out more about the woman who gave birth to octuplets earlier this week, we went to the home she shares with her parents and six other children in Whittier, California.

What we learned is that her whole neighborhood is buzzing about the possibility that the 33-year-old mother used the same sperm donor to conceive the octuplets AND her other six children.

In an exclusive interview with momlogic, one neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, revealed that the very pregnant young mom was THE hot topic of conversation at the neighborhood Christmas party. He says, "From what I heard she likes kids, she wants a jillion kids. She even lied to the doctors who impregnated her." The grandmother of the octuplets told the LA Times she never expected fertility treatments would lead her to conceive her eight babies. Neither doctors nor family members have commented on whether or not she used donor sperm.

When asked if he knew who the father of the baby is, the neighbor said, "She is single. She used a sperm donor, someone she knew, who donated sperm a long time ago. He donated the sperm for the first six kids and she used his frozen sperm for these one. I don't think the sperm donor knows about these eight kids. He was not involved."

According to the neighbor, the parents are very supportive of their daughter and even lost their own home in an effort to support her. "The parents lost their house supporting their daughter," the neighbor went on. "They actually bought this house for her, but then they lost their house supporting her and her kids and they had to move in with her. And now her father has to go back to Iraq to earn more money to support her. Her father either works as a truck driver or an interpreter [in Iraq]."

As to whether the mother herself works, the neighbor says: "She's a professional student and I want to know where the money's coming from to do this. Maybe she's using her student loans to do it." [Another story says she in fact did use student loan money to pay for the fertility treatment.—K-Man]

The family is very private: "They stick to themselves and you can always hear the grandma yelling at the kids because they are so rambunctious."

Although many think the birth of the octuplets is a happy miracle, the neighbor disagrees. "We should find out who the doctor is and where the money came from because this is irresponsible. The girl seemed a little off -- and I don't want to be paying for her kids."

You'd better believe it. Besides making converts at the point of a gun or sword, the other main way the turbanheads grow their religon is by using their women as body-tent-wearing incubators. Hubby can practically force his wife/wives to have as many kids as possible*. Complaints from the female end are at best ignored and at worst rewarded with severe physical abuse.

*Meaning boys...girl babies aren't valued much, big fat surprise.

Mother of octuplets 'worked in an IVF clinic'

The woman who gave birth to octuplets had previously worked in a fertility clinic, it has been claimed.
Thirty-three-year-old single mother Nadya Suleman-Guiterrez gave birth to the eight babies, despite already having six children all under the age of seven, The Sun reports today.
A neighbour said her other children were also born using IVF and that all 14 were by the same sperm donor, the paper says.
This comes as doctors warned that the octuplets' birth in America is a 'medical disaster'.

Sean Tipton, a spokesman for the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, said: 'A pregnancy resulting in this many babies clearly is not a medical triumph'.
Miss Suleman is said to be a 33-year-old divorcee studying for a masters degree in psychology.

Grandma: Octuplets mom obsessed with having kids

LOS ANGELES – The woman who gave birth to octuplets this week conceived all 14 of her children through in vitro fertilization, is not married and has been obsessed with having children since she was a teenager, her mother said.

Angela Suleman told The Associated Press she was not supportive when her daughter, Nadya Suleman, decided to have more embryos implanted last year.

"It can't go on any longer," she said in a phone interview Friday. "She's got six children and no husband. I was brought up the traditional way. I firmly believe in marriage. But she didn't want to get married."

Nadya Suleman, 33, gave birth Monday in nearby Bellflower. She was expected to remain in the hospital for at least a few more days, and her newborns for at least a month.

A spokeswoman at Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center said the babies were doing well and seven were breathing unassisted.

While her daughter recovers, Angela Suleman is taking care of the other six children, ages 2 through 7, at the family home in Whittier, about 15 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.

She said she warned her daughter that when she gets home from the hospital, "I'm going to be gone."

Angela Suleman said her daughter always had trouble conceiving and underwent in vitro fertilization treatments because her fallopian tubes are "plugged up."

There were frozen embryos left over after her previous pregnancies and her daughter didn't want them destroyed, so she decided to have more children.

Her mother and doctors have said the woman was told she had the option to abort some of the embryos and, later, the fetuses. She refused.

Her mother said she does not believe her daughter will have any more children.

"She doesn't have any more (frozen embryos), so it's over now," she said. "It has to be."

Nadya Suleman wanted to have children since she was a teenager, "but luckily she couldn't," her mother said.

"Instead of becoming a kindergarten teacher or something, she started having them, but not the normal way," he mother said.

Her daughter's obsession with children caused Angela Suleman considerable stress, so she sought help from a psychologist, who told her to order her daughter out of the house.

"Maybe she wouldn't have had so many kids then, but she is a grown woman," Angela Suleman said. "I feel responsible and I didn't want to throw her out."

Yolanda Garcia, 49, of Whittier, said she helped care for Nadya Suleman's autistic son three years ago.

"From what I could tell back then, she was pretty happy with herself, saying she liked having kids and she wanted 12 kids in all," Garcia told the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

"She told me that all of her kids were through in vitro, and I said 'Gosh, how can you afford that and go to school at the same time?"' she added. "And she said it's because she got paid for it."

Garcia said she did not ask for details.

Nadya Suleman holds a 2006 degree in child and adolescent development from California State University, Fullerton, and as late as last spring she was studying for a master's degree in counseling, college spokeswoman Paula Selleck told the Press-Telegram.

Her fertility doctor has not been identified. Her mother told the Los Angeles Times all the children came from the same sperm donor but she declined to identify him.

Birth certificates reviewed by The Associated Press identify a David Solomon as the father for the four oldest children. Certificates for the other children were not immediately available.

The news that the octuplets' mother already had six children sparked an ethical debate. Some medical experts were disturbed to hear that she was offered fertility treatment, and troubled by the possibility that she was implanted with so many embryos.

Others worried that she would be overwhelmed trying to raise so many children and would end up relying on public support.

The eight babies — six boys and two girls — were delivered by Cesarean section weighing between 1 pound, 8 ounces and 3 pounds, 4 ounces. Forty-six physicians and staff assisted in the deliveries.

This woman belongs in a nuthouse, it's just that simple. She does not have the means to support herself or those kyds nor is she mentally competent to do so. I don't know of even sane people like probably Michelle Duggar is who can physically take care of FOURTEEN children under the age of seven and with 8 of them being newborns, without help. She can't already take care of them properly and without help as that has already been established with the help (financial and childcare) that she got from her parents when she only had 6 kyds. Once her mom cuts out on her, who will help her? I don't even think that TWO people could properly care for EIGHT infants AND 6 other small children properly at once, which is evidenced by state mandated and required adult-child ratios at professional daycares. This woman hasn't thought beyond being knocked up and birthing these damned baybees. Where will she get diapers? How can she feed them all properly? Where will they sleep once they get bigger or even now?


The kindest thing that can be done for ALL concerned is for the children to be adopted out to good homes while they are all still young enough to have a fighting chance at a normal life. LOCK that woman up and hopefully by the time she is finished with menopause, she will be well enough to release. I wonder when we are going to hear from the sperm donor? I would be willing to bet that he is HORRIFIED.

This story just makes me . Every time I turn on the news, I hear about how "mom and babies are doing fine" and all the stupid news anchors sigh and smile. It doesn't sound fine to me, if you look at the real story. I can't believe this woman was allowed to have all these kids by her doctors. There should be rules about these fertility drugs. No long term relationship with dad, then no litter of babies. Living at home with your parents in your thirties with six other kids should not qualify as meeting the criteria for fertility treatment. There are strict financial rules when it comes to adoption, right? The same should apply to someone who has the potential to birth multiple babies. I wouldn't be surprised if they get taken away from her at some point down the road. The grandparents won't always be around to help her, and in a few weeks, the public will be on to the next cute baby story.

What stuck with me was the way they said "she always had trouble getting pregnant". So is that supposed to mean that she was HAVING SEX a lot, and since the "old fashioned" method wasn't working, she needed to "resort to" IVF?

These fertility factories, eugenics centers, whatever you want to call them, this kind of shit is par for the course with them. When I worked for an answering service years ago, one of our clients was a fertility clinic. They served a lot of medicaid recipients. 99% of the calls "no speeky english." 99% of the calls you could hear gaggles of whailing brats in the background. The attitude with the medical community is that choice trumps everything else, including the future of these kids, or the breeders ability to raise them.

I have always been pro choice, BUT, one thing I have come to realize is that "choice" doesn't work so great when people like us don't get to choose NOT to pay taxes for this shit.

In addition to an arabic name, she has a Hispanic name hyphenated with the Suleman. She could be Catholic. Regardless, this sick whore needs to be locked up and the loaves forcibly adopted. Jeeezus Kee-rist! Six was bad enough--now there are fourteen and every one a bastard!

I agree with Square (again). Just once I would lie to see some news anchor express some outrage about this. How about some op-eds in major newspapers condemning both the woman and the clinic for their irresponsible behavior. Until January 26th, eight small human beings were living inside the body of Nadya Suleman, a 33 year old Californian. Now they've left there and you'd think the creepiness would stop. You guessed wrong!!

For some of us, the very idea of gestation is creepy. Why can't humans just lay eggs? But what stands out in this story isn't the biological nuttiness but the psychological nuttiness. Nadya, as is becoming clear, is one of those women in their thirties or nearing them obsessed with having babies. [see also: Hasselbeck, Elisabeth] Obviously, there's nothing wrong or untoward with wanting to procreate. I'm thankful my mother found it in herself to do that with my shitstain father. But! As the facts emerge that Ms. Suleman already has six children, lives with her parents, doesn't have a job, doesn't have a husband and according to her own family—her parents not her 14 kids—may be addicted to children taints the story. (Heh?) This is all in addition the worry and rage with which medical professional regard the decision to implant so many embryos in a single mother with six children and then letting her keep the fetuses full term.

Disconcertingly, the most damning statements come from Nadya's mother, Angela. According to Gramma Angie, Nadya "is not evil, but she is obsessed with children. She loves children, she is very good with children, but obviously she overdid herself." You never want to see a "She's not evil but...." coming from a family member. Papa Suleman, Edward, recently told the media gathered outside his home, "I wish it happens to you people, so you go through hell," As the Guardian notes, Edward is "considering going back to his native Iraq - where he has worked as a contractor." Woah. Kids, leave your Grandpa alone. He reallllly doesn't like you.
