NY EMT killed by mystery 'on job' illness
Steven Linzer died last Wednesday and police are treating it as a line-of-duty deathBy Selim Algar
The New York Post

NASSAU COUNTY, N.Y. — A Long Island medical technician mysteriously died from a disease he may have caught while on the job, officials said yesterday.

Steven Linzer, 45, an employee of Nassau County, died last Wednesday, and police are treating it as a line-of-duty death.

Officials haven't disclosed the disease that killed Linzer, who lived in Levittown.

The county medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

A county Health Department spokeswoman told Newsday that the agency's infectious-disease specialists are not investigating.

Linzer's widow, Irene Linzer, told the paper he was a "very caring and loving person. He was a very family-oriented person."

Missed this thread, just saw it, was reminded of a few things.....

On some other board I noticed people talking about some "mystery illness" that's going around. This got me to thinking - and you know I have seen ALOT of little kids in stores - like toadler aged - with persistent coughs. Someone mentioned "Kennel Cough"? That's what it sounds like. And the parents rarely seem ill, themselves. But there's little poopsie sitting in the kiddie part of the cart - looking fairly healthy - but coughing.

Why in the hell do these kids have this low grade persistent cough? Keep your eyes out - see if you notice these coughers too.

The other thing I thought of - I saw this quite awhile ago - years ago - it was a guy on Maury Povich who had to have HALF his face taken off! Why? He got some weird infection of the sinuses, they had to take most of his head off. Ooooog.

Finally - call me crazy - but if I have to pass near a small child - I hold my breath. I try to steer way clear of them as it is - but sometimes that is not possible - so I hold my breath. Don't know if it's doing me any good - but - it's gotta be better than inhaling all the germs.

It is a terrible thing that people who are trying to save others wind up getting sick.

Sorry to hear of your past illness Tom. I know what it's like to be really sick and run down and then blasted with weird meds that run you down further and you just feel like hammered shit and can barely function. In my case - it was my own damned fault - I still lost about a year from it though. If I had caught something from someone else I'd have been LIVID.

If you're crazy, then so am I, because I do that too! Disgusting little mutant germ factories. skull2

Wow- when I took the cop exam, I decided against the program because I didn't want to play social worker. Sprogs didn't even occur to me.

My foster dog was given antibiotics for what is basically a cold, mostly because she is old and suffering from kidney failure. It was to keep opportunistic infections at bay. My younger dog got to "ride it out" and both are fine now.

I think that they are WAY overused in humans, though, which is part of the problem...people stopping them in the middle of an infection is another issue. They are breeding the supergerms themselves. We are also disinfecting the living shit out of everything, cooking the flavor out of food and whining about radiation in cell phones. We have become a paranoid nation even though many have no problem adding more germ vectors to the overcrowded gene pool.

I think George Carlin said something about kids not eating enough dirt anymore, so the body can't fight off lame germs...so when you come into contact with the superbug that turns your innards into liquid shit it has no clue what to do to fight it.

I want to pick up a bus full of unruly kids and feed them gummi bears and crack, then turn them loose in Hobby Lobby to ransack the place. They will all be wearing T shirts that say "You Could Have Prevented This."

Yup, that was George. And I believe that he was exactly right. A person's immune system can't grow stronger if it is never challenged.

Any one of the effluent that kids emit from any hole in their bodies is virtually deadly. Soon as it barfs, it's all over for the entire household. Not only are their horrible hot fat little bodies the most amazing incubators of mutating viruses, but they spray the pathogens everywhere, just everywhere, on every surface -- because they just stand there and yack all over furniture and walls and floors and fabrics, rather than direct it into a watertight toilet or even a sink that contains it and puts it directly into the sewer. Don't get me started on the snot and shit that is everywhere.

My guess would be that the infant had meningitis and the man caught meningoccocal septecaemia from it, suffering complications long after which damaged his heart beyond repair. Naturally, the mother would not have stood in the way of the medic who ended up ingesting her child's deadly vom -- she just wanted her baby saved at any price, but clearly not enough to actually come in contact with it herself.

Ya know, that's not such a bad idea... I get sick easily because my immune system is kind of weak (it must be, because I catch colds SUPER easy.) I hate to be around kids, let alone sick germ-vectors. When I hear that disgusting chiyuld cough, I cringe, because I know they are not covering their gaping pieholes while spewing their disgusting germs all over the universe. Hell, I've witnessed it - fucker was in line in the grocery store with little brat in tow. Brat starts coughing its fool head off and I remarked to it, "You need to cover your mouth when you cough." The duh looked at me and said, "que?" Then I knew exactly what the issue was... they simply didn't know any better. I think that as a general rule, most REAL parents in this country will teach their kids proper etiquette and maners, but in turd-werld countries, they have no idea what manners ARE. Sorry to stereotype, but I have found this to be the case personally, more times than I like to say.

I have to add... as disgusted as I am by loaves, I don't think I could ever work in the medical field. Just knowing that I might have to be in contact with their bodily fluids makes me want to vomit.

Labwoman,

I remember you saying you were ill awhile ago. Didn't you say you had that "Cipro" med too? I had to take that foul toxic chemical mess - for a month! (e.coli infection which I'm sure I talked about here or in the past) - and IMO that goddawful fucking shit was WORSE than the e.coli! And - I think it seriously ran my immune system down. I lost 30 pounds RAPIDLY - like in 3 weeks - and I felt like total run down shit for at least 6,8 months after -

And you may as well say a year - because then I started picking up every fucking illness that came along.

And I don't work with kids or anyone with young kids. But you go to stores, you touch things - I have trained myself to be careful about all this - I was still picking up all manner of illnesses.

I am just NOW starting to fell a bit better. Maybe 80% back to normal. Thank JAH for beer and pizza because that got my weight back up grinning smiley Bud LIGHT Lime MY ASS!!! smiling smiley

I then cut back on the junk and am working on eating healthier, reviewed my vitamins and got stronger ones, keep away from crowds, trying to exercise more - I'm getting there, it has been a long haul though.

And I certainly DO NOT want to see disease bags roaming around and spreading germs - no matter who or what age they are. STAY HOME! Keep the sick child home and ONE PERSON go to the store for necessities only!

Yeah, I'm preaching to the choir here and trying to tell an ignorant breeder these things would be like talking to a brick.

YARG!

Anyway, yeah, I just remembered you said you were ill. And I do remember others speaking of some recent rather serious health issues as well. Probably either originating from, or exacerbated by Child Germs.

Hope everyone is feeling reasonably well now smiling smiley

Zzelda, thank you, I am feeling much better now. My immune system has issues, but I think it's just declining with age. I've been tested for immune disorders and everything was ok. Also, certain times of the year, weather conditions, stress, depression, etc., all play a role in physical health. Cipro is a very strong antibiotic, as are many others, and I think that they do more harm than good. Hope you feel better too. It really does take time for these drugs to completely be eliminated from the system.

Thats so sad that the officer died such a tragic death. He should of let the brat die. Or if he wasn't like that he could of used something to prevent his mouth from touching the crotchfruits toxic mouth.

All I have to say is there is NO WAY IN HELL that I would ever put my mouth on a loaf's mouth! Ever! I'd rather drink from my dog's water bowl!
