Ha, well I just saw a movie yesterday that just came out called Idiocracy - it is basically about a future where people are really dumb because the people breeding the most are dumb as well. This movie is definitely not for the kiddos - lots of profanity and sexual content. But boy was it funny!

So Dove considers "frickin" a dirty word? How stupid is that! Oh, and using the God word too. I think I will make a mental note NEVER to buy Dove soap.

Who are the fundies who run the Dove Foundation's movie site? They say that there is "violence" in An Inconvenient Truth, describing it as "Images of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina". They also complain about Talladega Nights because there is what is called "an irreverent prayer, lasting several minutes" (listed under "Occult" in the no-no's).

I missed out on a chance to put the *fun* in *fundie*.

I got a telemarketing call from this *Dove Foundation*. At the time, I didn't know what it was. I was in a pissy mood at the time, and telemarketers always piss me off even more. I figured that they wanted a charitable donation, as I'm on the state and national Do Not Call lists. People selling things can't call, but charities and politicians are exempt...they can still annoy me if they feel like it.

Anyway, this guy starts asking me if I'd ever heard of the Dove Foundation. I said no, and I didn't care to know, as I wasn't going to donate anything to it. I told him I don't donate to anyone who calls me on the phone and annoys me.

He was literally BEGGING me not to hang up, to listen to what he had to say. I just laughed at him and hung up anyway.

Later, I Googled this Dove Foundation and found out what it was. I wanted to kick myself for hanging up on this guy so soon, as I could have had some fun with him. I could have rattled off a list of all of the non-Dove approved movies that I have in my collection, and how I let my eight kids (cats, actually, but he doesn't know that) to watch them. "Fritz the Cat" (an x-rated cartoon) is their favorite, I'd tell him. And I'd go on and on until he'd hang up on ME!

Too bad no one from there has ever called me back.

I am sick of these religious groups trying to dictate what adults can or cannot watch. It is like Mercurior said on his childfree site: "There is an OFF button....."

If church leaders want to preach to their own congregation of what is allowed viewing, that is their own business but I resent that these superstitious people are trying to tell me what *I* can or cannot watch.

It also rankles me that religious groups are tax-exempt. Why should WE pay extra in taxes so to support religion??? Americans love to scream about the evils of socialism yet religious organizations and those with babies & children ARE indeed subsidized by OUR taxes.

I bet the men who run Dove probably secretly get off on watching nude women and most likely ogle young girls in sexy outfits. Most religious men do have dual lives which would shock those moo wives and church members.

i think they do a good job.. they tell us its not approved, and it must be brilliant, or better than some of the crap they say is good, i say yes tell every breeder about it, about the films that are bad according to them.. so they wont take their kids..

i just love the way they count the swearwords, i imagine them with a tick box, yes that a piss, thats a fcuk, thats a goddamn.. and so on..

so i use dove site.. to choose the films i watch.. if they dont approve it, i watch it ;-)

Damn, I like Dove soap...

I've never heard of this "Dove Foundation" but if they're actually keeping count of swear words in movies, then they have WAY too much time on their hands. I'm sick of these fundies trying to tell absolutely everyone what they should or shouldn't watch, listen to, believe, etc. When did this country become the Corporate States of Morality? Money & Gawd don't mix too well. Unless of course one is a rich fundie, breathing their own brand of Jeebus- approved corruption down the throats of sinners.

Catmommy,
I'd like you to know I did just what you wanted to do. I told them in no uncertain terms that the religious right has no business telling me what I can or cannot watch on cable television that I PAY FOR! I also told them that if parents can't be parents to determine what is appropriate fare for their little ones, it is NOT MY PROBLEM!
