Then I'm sure that Tardley showed violent tendencies toward her little brother many times before, but the parents left her alone with him, so that's reckless child endangerment.

Oh, but wait. They Have Suffered Enough™. They won't see the inside of a courtroom nor ever be required to put Tardleigh into a home for defectives because even despite proving herself a danger to others, it's more important to preserve Tardleigh's "rights" to be in society than society's right to be safe from people like her.
