Could 'personhood' bills outlaw IVF?

This is an interesting article explaining how wording on a bill can effect all the poor wana-moomies taking IVF. What got me the most was a new term that was coined

They wouldn't be able to continue with IVF, using their current methods, if this passed. Towards the end of that article I remember the gist of it, which seems to be a common theme, is it's so unfair to include IVFers into this person hood debate thing because 1 in 8 couples is infertile, it's a real medical problem, they only want children of their own, etc...Well, I have been saying all along this "fetal reduction" thing they do with the zygotes, in AND out the hole, is nothing more than elective abortion IF life begins at conception.

The'ye said they'd just use a different approach to IVF, which of course would be some loop holes to eventually use all the zygotes, to wait longer to fertilize the eggs after they're collected, and to not allow this "fetal reduction" to occur.All of those possibilities and more will make IVF itself and the desirable outcome of a loaf be MUCH more difficult, which of course I am "for", but not at the expense of losing abortion rights. Ironically, it's possible breeder greed for a loaf "of their own" MAY keep abortion legal.

This reminds me of Demolition Man, when Sandra Bullock's character is talking about all the things that are illegal in San Angeles:-

"Abortion is illegal but so is pregnancy without a license".

But seriously, American legislation scares me, do they really think that abortions will stop happen if through some insane luck they manage to outlaw abortion?

You could fill a book with things that are illegal but still happen everyday! Why are the male legislators so insistent on removing women's rights? I'm all for doing away with IVF, but in some cases abortion saves women's lives! No one ever died from not being able to sprog but plenty of women died in the grim past of illegal abortions.

If we'd just honor "patient-doctor confidentiality" and let a pregnancy termination decision and procedure, for whatever reason, be carried out in the doctor's office as an out patient this wouldn't be such a big news story for 4 decades and running. Perhaps more annoying than anything is the idea these mother fuckers in the pro life movement even KNOW a woman may be having what should be a PRIVATE medical procedure! The only reason they are even aware of it is because of the advent of actual free standing "abortion clinics" where it's OBVIOUS many women entering the doors will be likely to be seeking abortion services. In no other medical procedure do STRANGERS have the audacity to picket and hold protests outside, with the only closely comparable incidents being the bastards who picket outside of VA clinics in protest of wars, which is JUST AS BAD.

In retaliation, I'd like to see some picketers outside of charity maternity wards at hospitals across the globe carrying signs and accosting "single mothers" as they exit the hospitals with yet ANOTHER baby to add to the welfare rolls. The signs could read things like,


"SICK OF WIC!!"
"MANDATORY STERILIZATION!!!"
"SEW IT SHUT YOU WORTHLESS SLUT!!"
"AFTER TWO-YOU ARE THROUGH!"
"YOU DON'T PAY-YOU CAN'T STAY!"
"GET A JOB- BIG FAT SLOB!"
"BOO HOO HOO-SINGLE MOO!!"

Wouldn't freezing a "person" without their consent be some type of felony assault, though? And, actually, wouldn't it also be illegal to go injecting "people" into the bodies of other people without the documented legal consent of BOTH parties?

Yes!

I am particularly disturbed by the ones that spend the thousands of dollars on IVF when they don't even have the money to get the health insurance necessary for their delivery. So, they'll save up and spend the money on getting themselves an entire litter and everything after that, their delivery, hospital bills, possible million dollar NICU stay for their babies and their entire life post discharge, will be funded by responsible tax payers like us. It disgusts me.

I don't have kids. I don't want kids. I made the necessary plans in life to ensure that I can at the very least support myself. And there goes idiot moo with her need for a fambalee, sucking off the system like a giant economic tumor because she lacks even the tiniest bit of foresight to think, maybe if I already can barely afford to live, adding a litter of howling babbies might not be the best economic decision. The responsible people of this country (many of whom are also trying to claw their way into economic stability and don't live off the system) have to foot the bill for this resource sucking waste of air.

And don't get me started on the Pro-Life idiots. They all love the loaf until its born, and then they shove it into a foster home, deny it the resources needed to be a productive member of society, wait for it to commit a crime and then champion for it to get the death penalty. Le sigh.

Add in a bit of shaming for their baby dadies and I'm satisfied. Although the woman is the one who chooses to carry it to term, she's not the only one responsible for the situation.
