About to Hit the Panic Button
September 05, 2012
Ok, I posted a while back about a guy I had met. He is 25 and told me that he had had a vasectomy. Well, since it seemed kinda odd for someone so young to have gotten one (although he is military so I don't know if it's easier for them to get one), I was being cautious and we did use a condom. It broke, so I ended up getting the morning after pill from the pharmacy.

FF to now, and I am about 10 days late. So, now I'm paranoid that he was lying about being snipped.

I realize as someone who is child-free, the answer is obvious. But, I am really just kinda freaked out that he might have lied to me.

I'm at a point where medical expenditures are going to put a hurt on me (I had a major car repair), but it is doable. Still kind of freaked out about the whole situation though. I was hoping that it was simply stress that made me late, or the morning after pill screwed with my cycle, but after this much time has passed, I'm not so sure.

Pregnancy test. NAOW!!!

It's your hell; you rot in it!

I am about to run to the store, but doesn't it have to be done in the morning?
Re: About to Hit the Panic Button

Read the instructions. Buy a two or three pack if there is such a thing, and try one now and one in the morning. And if you are knocked-up, strong-arm the guy into paying for an abortion for lying to you. If he says he didn't lie, ask to see the medical records. If he has proof he's been snipped, he should at least pay half.

Have you checked back with the guy? Because if he did lie, and you are .. you know ... (can't even say the vile word) half the cost of termination is, in all decency, on him.
Re: About to Hit the Panic Button

I really pray that you are alright. I'm hoping it's just stress or maybe even the way you've been eating. I agree with the others take the test and either way have the guy do his part. He should be right there with you, worrying, waiting for the test results and if necessary, going to get the situation taken care of. (I pray to God he wasn't lying. It does make me wonder if a guy
would stoop that low knowing you don't want ....)

I hope you'll be ok. pals

I haven't said anything to him yet because I kept expecting I would get my period. I have been super-stressed the last month or so, due to my living arrangements, then my car breaking down. Plus the hormones from the morning after pill.

I don't have any symptoms of that vile condition. No sore breasts, no upset stomach or anything of the sort, so I'm just hoping. Sometimes when I get stressed it's not unusual for it to be 35 days or so between periods. But now we are at 38, and I'm very discouraged that it is going to show up late, or that I will just have a missed period.

I tried to do some research with regards to whether your cycle can be delayed that much or skipped for the month even, with the MA pill. But, I have not found any reliable information one way or the other.

I forgot to ask whether I should get the digital kind or not. I've heard that reading lines on the regular ones can be iffy. I thought about just going to PP tomorrow morning for a test there and then make any kind of follow-up appt. But, they don't open until 10 and I am afraid I will go crazy with paranoia by then.

Whew! I admit I've never taken a pregnancy test before, I'm afraid I can't guide you there. But if it will make you feel better and calm down, take the digital one tonight and then go to PP in the morning. That way you'll have two different results.

And I hope you can calm down enough to have a talk with this guy. He needs to know how you feel and what you've been dealing with. (A real man will understand. And if he is truly CF, he will really understand your anxiety.)

Hang in there!

I was super late once, but it was stress. And dont worry, you can get an abby. You arent even close to being past the deadline mark and youll know soon enough. I recommend taking some vitamin C or blue black cohosh in the meantime.. check the dosages. you can go a little above the vitamin C dosage but not under any circumstances above the cohosh. be careful. I can send you a list of natural abortifactants If you want some peace of mind.

Ok, I did the Clear Blue Easy. For pregnant it's supposed to be a Plus sign in the window. For Not Pregnant, it's a minus sign.

I got a MINUS sign.

But, I'm still not sure if it's considered accurate since it wasn't a morning sample.

I hope you are doing ok! About 8 years ago I had a stupid moment and stressed myself out so badly that I got my period 2.5 weeks late. Scariest 2.5 weeks of my life. The stress doesn't help, and I know it's hard to relax at a time like this. Good luck, and I'm sure you'll get your period soon.

Thank you all for the support!!!

The thing is, my stomach is all rumbly like when I get cramps for my period. It can't be anything I ate, I only had a ham sandwich for lunch and some bland chicken strips for supper. So, I keep thinking Aunt Flow is right around the corner.

I have to figure that I can't really count on tonight's test necessarily, so I'll take the second one in the morning. Even then, I'm not sure I won't go to PP and get a confirmation just to be on the safe side.

I really don't want to think that he lied. Of course I'm sure some guys would try that; say that they are fixed so that you will have sex without a condom, but we did use one. Normally I would be on the pill, but my prescription ran out and I hadn't had a chance to have it refilled. We probably should've waited. After the condom broke, I had to wait till the next morning to get the MA pill, so there was a window there.

I would really appreciate if you sent me that list. I realize that I'll probably know for sure one way or the other by late morning, but I am interested.

Even though there are options, it is scary!!

On top of all my anxiety, one of the pups got into the trash and dragged it all over the bathroom, so I had to clean all that up before I could go to the store.

Thankfully there was a pharmacy 1/2 mile down the road, so I drove like a madwoman! I suppose it would be to my benefit to just have a test or two on hand for such a situation.

I just really didn't need all this stuff right now. Finally got through some other stresses and found what I thought was a great guy, and child-free to boot. If he lied, it's over tomorrow. And I know I can deal with this and put it behind me, I just hate having been put in this spot in the first place.

Shoot, I was looking up information about RU486 At this early a term (if the worst should happen - I'm sending good vibes that The Cardinal puts in an appearance soon) it would be easier than a scrape and vac - probably cheaper, too.

It sounds like you have a delayed period over a possible pregnancy. The pregnancy tests are less then accurate prior to the date of the missed period, but after they usually end up being 99.5 accurate. If you were pregnant, the test would have showed up positive, because there has been more then enough time for the tested pregnancy hormone to build up, even with testing in the evening. I would still test in the morning, but if that test still shows up negative (especially after this much time) you are quite highly likely not pregnant.

I hope to Jeebus that you are right! I kinda thought from what I was reading that the early tests are what definitely needed the morning, since hormone levels are pretty low by then.

My last period started on July 30th, so I should've started around August 26th. I would like to think that by 10 days after I was supposed to start, that any hormone level would be detectable even at night. I do have a feeling that this will be a fairly sleepless night though, until I can re-test in the morning.

I have had late periods before due to stress, but usually it's no more than 3-4 days late. I'm just hoping the stress combined with the MA pill is just making things a little later. I have read people online saying that they missed their period for the entire month after taking the MA pill, or being 2 weeks late. I'm not sure that's something that the literature for the MA pill actually states though.

Plus, it's people online making comments, they're not exactly authorities, like a medical expert would be.

I'm surprised he could get it done at only age 25, so that's why I wanted to use a condom just to be sure.

I don't know if they face less bingoes in the military than we civilians do, but I guess he could have had it done I HOPE he did have it done.

Needless to say, I will be vigilant about not running out of BC pills again.

Well hopefully it is just stress! I am only in my early 30s, so I think it's too early to be perio-menopause even.

I see that some diseases could also be a factor. I'd almost rather it be a disease, than the alternative!
Re: About to Hit the Panic Button

I have also had missed periods that ran longer then yours, there were one or two that I had been waiting until day 50 for it to start (and I am celibate now) so I am no stranger to this. smiling The only bad side is that if it's a missed period, the period that follows can be a pad flooder.

P.S. for the pg testing, try to empty your bladder before you go to bed tonight. That way you reduce the chance you will have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, and will likely give enough time to for any hormone to concentrate in your bladder. I've used these things before, so I've learned a few tricks winking

These are HISTORICAL abortifactients, so I would do more research before taking any of these things as medicine. It was a word file so I copied and pasted it. here you go! It was from a journal I think.

Natural abortifacients
Soranus offered a number of recipes for herbal bathes, rubs, and pessaries.[14] In De Materia Medica Libri Quinque, the Greek pharmacologist Dioscorides listed the ingredients of a draught called "abortion wine"– hellebore, squirting cucumber, and scammony– but failed to provide the precise manner in which it was to be prepared.[12] Hellebore, in particular, is known to be abortifacient.[17]
Pliny the Elder cited the refined oil of common rue as a potent abortifacient. Serenus Sammonicus wrote of a concoction which consisted of rue, egg, and dill. Soranus, Dioscorides, Oribasius also detailed this application of the plant. Modern scientific studies have confirmed that rue indeed contains three abortive compounds.[18]
Birthwort, an herb used to ease childbirth, was also used to induce abortion. Galen included it in a potion formula in de Antidotis, while Dioscorides said it could be administered by mouth, or in the form of a vaginal pessary also containing pepper and myrrh.[19]
The seeds of Queen Anne's Lace (Daucus carota), also known as wild carrot, have been in use as a post-coital agent for centuries.
Natural abortifacients
Art from a 13th-century illuminated manuscript features a herbalist preparing a concotion containing pennyroyal for a woman.
Botanical preparations reputed to be abortifacient were common in classical literature and folk medicine. Such folk remedies, however, varied in effectiveness and were not without the risk of adverse effects. Some of the herbs used at times to terminate pregnancy are poisonous.
A list of plants which cause abortion was provided in De viribus herbarum, an 11th-century herbal written in the form of a poem, the authorship of which is incorrectly attributed to Aemilius Macer. Among them were rue, Italian catnip, savory, sage, soapwort, cyperus, white and black hellebore, and pennyroyal.[12]
King's American Dispensatory of 1898 recommended a mixture of brewer's yeast and pennyroyal tea as "a safe and certain abortive".[30] Pennyroyal has been known to cause complications when used as an abortifacient. In 1978 a pregnant woman from Colorado died after consuming 2 tablespoonfuls of pennyroyal essential oil[31][32] which is known to be toxic.[33] In 1994 a pregnant woman, unaware of an ectopic pregnancy that needed immediate medical care, drank a tea containing pennyroyal extract to induce abortion without medical help. She later died as a result of the untreated ectopic pregnancy, mistaking the symptoms for the abortifacient working.[34]
Tansy has been used to terminate pregnancies since the Middle Ages.[35] It was first documented as an emmenagogue in St. Hildegard of Bingen's De simplicis medicinae.[12]
A variety of juniper, known as savin, was mentioned frequently in European writings.[3] In one case in England, a rector from Essex was said to have procured it for a woman he had impregnated in 1574; in another, a man wishing to remove his girlfriend of like condition recommended to her that black hellebore and savin be boiled together and drunk in milk, or else that chopped madder be boiled in beer. Other substances reputed to have been used by the English include Spanish fly, opium, watercress seed, iron sulphate, and iron chloride. Another mixture, not abortifacient, but rather intended to relieve missed abortion, contained dittany, hyssop, and hot water.[27]
The root of worm fern, called "prostitute root" in the French, was used in France and Germany; it was also recommended by a Greek physician in the 1st century. In German folk medicine, there was also an abortifacient tea, which included marjoram, thyme, parsley, and lavender. Other preparations of unspecified origin included crushed ants, the saliva of camels, and the tail hairs of black-tailed deer dissolved in the fat of bears.[24]

I dont think camel spit will work though. LOL!

I will do that, though I usually go right before bed and then not again till morning. I am so wishing it was morning right now! I may even get up earlier than usual, just so I can get the test over with. It's nice thinking that it's negative, but I will feel better if I get a negative on the morning test too!
