I wish my cat would live for 23 years. I have one currently deteriorrating from kidney failure, and he's only about age 10. He probably won't make it another year.

The local (sorta-)big city daily has an ad in the "pets" section of the classifieds today for a beautiful ginger and white tabby female at a local shelter. This sweet-looking (and said to be sweet-tempered) kitty is eight years old. You can bet that something similar happened: she was taken to the shelter, maybe by some other breeder inpig, in hopes that she would be put down. (Might instead have been an elderly person's cat, and her owner is dead or in a nursing home. Bad either way.)

I wish I had room for another kitty. I'd take her.

Edited to add: Fuck Candace what's-her-face. Oh wait, someone did. Problem is, her husband and his former cat are fucked as well.

It breaks my heart to see older/elderly kitties at the shelter.

I just wanted to add a big THANK YOU for all your kind words re: Willow. She is resting beside my first cat, Koryo, and even though I miss her like crazy (and am still weepy when I let myself go there) I know she is in a happy Kitty haven.

Poor sweet purcat. My boyfriend's family just lost their 21 year old cat (who was a bit of a dirty old man, but never mind that) and I couldn't imagine giving up a creature so sweet or affectionate as an elderly cat.

I remember watching that episode and being confused as to why Pump was even on the show. As far as I could see, the only crime he was committing was going into her room and rubbing up against her silks. Hardly worthy of being called a Cat from Hell.

My condolences on your kitty. Having to make the decision to put down a cat is ever a beastly one, I've had to put down a older cat 6 years ago who was dying from intestinal cancer. Even though I knew he was in a bad way, knowing the time with him was limited by a vet's injection made it harder. It's pure hell, and something that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Also, I'm glad that woman (Candice) is getting reamed out. As they say, Karma can be a bitch, and I wouldn't be surprised if her loaf dumps her in a nursing home after she becomes too 'inconvenient' to care for.
