Yikes! New president of my alma mater is a geezer breeder

Well, technically he's the interim president. The first woman president of the university retired this year and they haven't named a new one yet.

Anyway, I was reading the alumni magazine today and saw this article and photo about the guy. My first thought, on looking at the photo: "Holy crap, look how little those kids are!" Sure enough, it says that he graduated from college in 1976! If he was 22 then, that makes him 59 now. That oldest kid is, what, 10? This guy will be 67 when he gets the oldest out of high school and assuming the youngest kid is 6, he'll be at least 75 when he finishes paying for college for the youngest.

The article also says that he's "the father of five sons." Since there are only three in that photo, I assume that the other two are from the wife that he traded in for this one. I'm terrible at estimating ages, but his wife ("active in a variety of University, community, and philanthropic programs" AKA doesn't have a job) is maybe mid/early 40s, right? Looks like he and Wife #2 wanted a girl, but swung three times and struck out.

Ugh! That guy is my parents' age. I can't even imagine them having kids that are still in grade school.

What's with the increasing amount of geezer-breeders lately? Mid-life crisis?

Not surprised that he traded in wife one. When I started at the U where I work the Pres. VP, and Head of General Counsel all traded in the "old models" - the ones who had got the men through college and spawned 2.8 loaves - for new, sleeker models.

Well no wonder GM went bankrupt a couple of years ago. When men in the 50s had a midlife crisis they used to buy a Corvette. Too bad they can't find "new, sleeker" women at their neighborhood Chevrolet dealer.

No kidding, he looks really weather-beaten.

What does the fact that his Dick Werked^TM five times have to do with his ability to perform his job? I hate the trend of putting personal information on a professional bio.

From a personal security prospective I don't think this is a good idea either. He's obviously a wealthy man. Wouldn't he want to protect his golden sons from being targeted?
