13 year old girl is brain dead after tonsilectomy (Jahi McMath). Mom wants life support continued.

She won't get a big fat payout. She can't sue for wrongful death since she insists the corpse is alive, and will not sue for malpractice since there is a cap of 250K which will be blown in one month at Michael Kors and Ruth Chris (as shown by her instagrams). She needs her alive to get a constant stream of money but can't because she was declared dead.

The doctor that declared her alive is anti ACA, anti gay rights, anti choice and luuurves Senator Crooz. Probably all you need to know about her. Just another political crusade for her.

They solicited donations to help cover expenses and still feature Jahi on their website.

Most of the commenters are posting common sense. The whole thing is just a moneymaking scam on the part of the moo. I have told the Wolf that if I am ever in that situation, TURN THE DAMN LIFE-SUPPORT OFF AND LET ME GO (of course. the Wolf wouldn't be dumb enough to give me food to eat right after surgery).

One thing I don't get...every time I have had major (or even some minor surgery), the LAST thing I want to do after coming out of the anesthesia has been to eat. Ditto for others I know who have had surgery with anesthesia. Something here is not adding up.

Want to prove she is alive? Pull the plug. That was the difference between her and Terry Schiavo; the plug was pulled on Terry but she continued to breathe on her own. She only needed medical assistance to take in nutrition.

If princess really is alive she won't need machines. I suspect she is given hormones and drugs to give the appearance of being alive. Mama Nails is probably buying her weaves and doing her nails to show how she is "alive". Of course no one sees the movements, the tapping to music or the completion of nuclear physics problems.

Just last week, I was wondering how our favorite corpse was doing... then this update pops up under the "trending" section of Facebook. That photo is creepy; is it just me, or is her nose smaller compared to the photo on the left? Her eyes also look sunken in, but it's kinda hard to tell. Also, I do believe her face is discolored on the bottom and her skin overall looks lighter. I forget where (may have been the Fakebook support page), but the proud maternal unit posted a video of Jahi moving her finger. Thing is, brain-dead and even fully dead people can have those little twitches now and then. Doesn't mean they're alive. I know the Moo claims this dead body shows signs of life, but surely if it was as animated as Moo claims, there'd be far more video proof of it.

The whole family is fuckin' nuts: they feed the girl a damn cheeseburger immediately after she has throat surgery, she bleeds out and they keep her corpse warm for going on three years. If you ask me, the whole family needs to be Baker Acted and the plug needs to be pulled on this entire media circus. If she's as alive as the parents claim, she should be able to survive without the machines.

I honestly wonder if the parents put makeup on her for photos so she looks more alive. I'm sickened and fascinated by this whole thing all at once: sickened by the fact that these people won't just accept their child's death and move on, but fascinated that a corpse has been kept in relatively decent shape for several years with no preservatives and without much noticeable decomposition. It's kind of like a fucked-up science experiment, only with an unwilling guinea pig. I've heard that brain and head transplants could become a thing by 2017 - perhaps Moo and Duh are holding out for that so they can have a working brain stuffed into their kid's head.

This needs to end before they start wasting taxpayers money and expecting everyone else to pay for everything because 'wahhhh my poor chyaiuld' It's really their own fault, feeding the girl a cheese burger. She should have been eating ice cream and jello. They should have also made her loose some weight before she went in for surgery. Heavier people are more prone to sleep apnea anyway and I bet that was a big part of the problem.

She may not be all fat, but rather have significant fluid congested through her face and body, as is what occurs when laying flat and dead. As for decomp, as long as the tissues are oxygenated, per-fused and circulating, the process of decomp is significantly reduced. Also as they've got feeding tubes in situ, it's nutrients are still being absorbed and converted into fat, as there's no activity to burn it off. There also may still be some negligible activity in the brain stem, which explains the heart beat (or there may even be a pacemaker).

Corpsy's family believes that because there's heartbeat, there's life. The thing is that although the heart can sustain this for years (as is displayed), as it's not the natural state, it will eventually fail. What will they do then, demand a heart transplant, or artificial one? not bloody likely. I think this is what the hospital is probably waiting for, until then, they'll be quite happy to bleed them dry, as they're willing to pay to keep this corpse warm.

I'm betting she's afraid to show a video because her bubble might be busted. I think this is a case of Munchausen by Proxy honestly, she feels guilty for what happened to her daughter yet she also is getting attention and people treating her like she's a victim (and giving her money and stuff) which she seems to crave badly.

As long as Jahi 'lives' she can go on pretending that her actions (and likely the family's) didn't really kill her daughter, otherwise, why keep doing this? If she thinks God will somehow 'resurrect' her daughter, He would have done it by now. Usually whenever a resurrection occurs, it's about three days after the person dies, often after the person was placed in a stone tomb, and they were considered by doctors and authority to be well and truly dead (and people can quickly tell after a 1-3 day wake in a warm area when a body starts to spoil.)

All I can say is, if she wants to show us something miraculous happening, she should post a recent video. Show what Jahi's doing so the doctors can see. Have an independent doctor come in who is objective who can assess her. Even Jesus had people touch Him after He came back, so people could see. Otherwise she's keeping a poor girl in the twilight between life and death, being 'alive' yet not living. She wants people to think miraculous stuff is happening with Jahi, she better have the balls to prove it.

Brain dead is dead. Whatever semblance of life she had is gone, over, fin, and keeping tissues alive is just about as effective as growing cells in a petri dish. Her organs and tissues may be "alive" in scientific terms because they are still being pumped with nutrients through an IV, but she isn't. As for the hand gripping the pen and the babbled speech and all that, I'm sure Moo closed her fingers around the pen and, delusional as she is, called it "speech" when she heard the same grunts and groans embalmers often hear when corpses are releasing gas. I can't believe this mess has gone on for four years.

At this time it happened, there were varying accounts of what happened and some alleged the family's actions caused this bad outcome, such as: the mother sucked blood clots out of the kid's throat, which started the bleeding, and they disobeyed doctor's orders and gave the kid food, which caused the problem. Who knows if these are true.

Even if the kid is oxygenated and still around, there's has to be a point where rational thought and quality of life take over. Presuming the kid can squeeze a pencil, what kind of life is she leading? She's brain dead. If disconnecting her from the life support causes her to "die," she's not really alive in the first place.

As for the spectacle this has become, when I started this thread I found a quote from a bio ethicist who happened to be a Catholic priest. The original article is gone. Surprisingly, the article that quoted this bio ethicist was on yahoo, of all places. Yahoo typically is a bastion of stupidity, but some actual analysis and rational thought sneaked in there.

What this guy said is worth quoting again, and it is eerily prophetic:

In a sick, morbid way, I kind of find this case fascinating. I've never seen a dead person kept "alive" on life support for this long and it's kind of interesting to see what happens to the body after so long. While she looks dead, it's kind of amazing how "fresh" she also manages to look when machines are busy keeping her body working. If Moo ever does accept that Jahi is brain dead, I bet she'll be campaigning for a brain transplant to help the girl "wake up."

At this rate, I think Moo should start charging admission because Jahi could probably join the ranks of the attractions at one of the Ripley's Believe It Or Not museums. "Come see the dead living body! She's been dead for fifteen years now and hasn't been preserved via mortuary techniques, yet look how soft and supple her skin is! I think Kesselrunin12parsecs showed a lot of those same pictures, theres even one picture that has a big splotch of it near one of her eyes (in a lightened picture.) He also says that there is a spot deeper in an ear, but I couldn't see that as well.

I remember Docbastard mentioning in an old post that those dark areas are often a bad sign since the face is often a very vascularized area, and that if it's not getting enough blood, then it implies that other areas are likely getting even less.

Edit: You can see her hair is a lot thinner now in the braided hair photos. Her hairline is also farther back now then it was, so her scalp is showing signs of inadequate blood flow too.
