Demand for child porn drives the activity, and that's why it's illegal to view it even if you don't create it. I really doubt people who are abused in that way care why the person did it, whether it was for profit, for a desire they could control, or a desire they couldn't control.

I do agree that there should be outpatient treatment without stigma available for people who recognize that they have this problem and also that it is wrong, and are doing everything in their power to seek help. But that is not what was going on here - he wasn't getting help, and now he's going to be under the guardianship of the very same people who couldn't keep it under control before.

As someone who works in IT, you would be shocked by the number of people who are not aware such a thing exists.

According to my quick Internet research, an IQ of 73 is classified as borderline IQ which is also called borderline mental retardation. While I am generally not comfortable with someone who is mentally disabled being held to the same standards as the rest of the competent-thinking populace, this dude is a pedophile. Actually I used to work in computer IT too, get about one computer each year or two come in, where it had crashed and the customer desperately needed the data off the hard drive, during the clone we'd check its progress, and bam their in the file transfer was the names of many images titled child porn, we'd normally call the police to notify them, they'd raid the customers house and confiscated the computer from our store, paying our fee for whatever the customer was going to have to pay for, put a few of them in jail that way, but honestly those sorts of people normally keep the computers at home self fixing them to avoid alerting anyone.
