"Junk Food Kids" on Channel 4 last night

Don't know if anybody UK based saw this last night, but it was a seriously bad indictment of today's generation of breeders who just want to be their kid's best buddy and it's too haaaaard to do any actual parenting.

There was an.obese 4 year old who was in severe pain with her teeth, moo couldn't be arsed to get her to a dentist appointment on time, and the poor kid ended up with most of her baby teeth being extracted. All because Moo lets the kid eat crap all day and doesn't insist she brushes her teeth properly twice a day. And the obese 14 year old who talked like absolute shit to her moo, and was eating pints of ice cream as an appetiser to a Sunday lunch.

I just don't understand why these people have kids. Don't they understand that kids are fucking feral and therefore they need a lot of training? It's hard work - my parents would say amen to that, I hated brushing my teeth, but they made me do it, and as a result I had no tooth decay as a child. But the battles....like decent parents they knew better than I did that having bad teeth would be a whole lot worse than the discomfort of brushing them and not liking the taste of toothpaste.

At least some of the doctors on there were calling it like it is - the parents are to blame for their kids getting obese and having rotten teeth, because they choose their own convenience over the health of their children.

A few years ago Jamie Oliver made a valiant attempt to improve school meal from the 'turkey' twizzlers and chips (fries) to something a little more nutritious and healthy while still being within the budgets and abilities of the average state school.

While there are times I'd quite happily jam JO into an oven on a low heat to slowly baste in his own juices, at least he made an attempt to get kids to eat less crap. His biggest obstacle was moos bemoaning how their pweshus sneauxflakes wouldn't eat these things called vegetables and in some cases, passing takeaway junk through the school railings so their butterball would get his daily pound of saturated fats.

Apparently things have now improved on an the whole school meals, but probably introduced a whole generation of foodies snobs or Billie Bunters sat at home eating junk. All too common to see articles where snotleigh will only eat tube of pringles and a giant bottle of coke for breakfast and the moos are somehow proud of their no-so-little walking, talking, diabetic Augustus Gloop.

Watching this now, thanks for the heads-up. Jeez, that scene of the boy having TWELVE milk teeth removed under general anaesthetic was harrowing- I'm not even a parunt and I found that genuinely upsetting, so how can these parunts who bang on about "finally knowing what real love is" and how their "children come first" even think of putting their supposedly beloved children through such abuse- and it is abuse- eh?

As for the obese moo who claimed making her overfed daughter brush her teeth was like asking her to do a chore "when she could be sat down watching Peppa Pig instead", her daughter was in so much pain she had a hospital appointment and she made no real effort to get there, even with the thought of alleviating her suffering?

It isn't hard to control what children eat- they're children FFS, not 20-stone cage fighters. A friend of mine was obese as a child because she'd steal food from the cupboards and the fridge- her parents put locks on them. My abusive narcissistic mother overfed my sister, the Golden Child, and made excuses to feed me less, sometimes even throwing my dinner in the fire if we argued- sadly I know all too well that it's easy to control what a child does or doesn't eat.

Giving a child juice from a bottle? I wouldn't have given my dog juice and sweets, it's not rocket science, so how can parunts get this so wrong when feeding humans? For me this programme has just provided more proof that pet owners put more thought into pet ownership and subsequent care than breeders put into breeding.

What about for non-Brits?

I bet these moos are SAHMoos, too, aren't they? I don't get it. No actual job to work around to get a home-cooked meal on the table every night, but they're somehow unable to do so. My parents both worked out of the home for the government, were gone by 6AM and not home until 6PM, and still cooked dinner. They NEVER took my sister and I to McDonald's or shit like that. Eating out was a dress-up-nice-and-you-better-fucking-behave affair, usually on the nights when they'd take us into D.C. to eat dinner and see a play or musical. Fast food was a treat we only got a couple of times a year when we visited the grandparents. The first time I had Taco Bell, I was in college.

And even after my father died and my sister went off to college, my mom and I still cooked at home. I just took over a lot of the cooking duties. We did eat out a little more often, on nights I had gymnastics practice or EMT training.

Is there one that makes it appear that you are in Canada too? I am unable to listen to my canadian radio stations here in the states anymore. If so... somebody please tell me and tell me how to get to it.

Try the Chrome extension Hola. Not sure if it's good for more than Netflix, maybe?
Googling "extension for chrome change countries" brought up Hola as the first result, which I use for Netflix, but there were many others too. Something should work for your internet radio.

Yeah, a 'government mandate' which is what caused the problem in the first place. I was getting my Canadian stations fine for years and suddenly most of them are gone. I have a friend who is on the radio up in Canada and she told me it was something about stations paying taxes and fees to broadcast streams over the internet to countries othere than Canada.. So I went to Tunin and got it for about 2 months and suddenly THAT was gone. Same thing. They caught up with Tunin. This is why I like my Canadian radio...because I have a personal friend who is part of a morning team on a station up there. My dh can get it on his phone but he's at work when she's on and .... I still have a flip phone. Would like to find some 'fix' where I don't have to buy anything new.

It didn't explicitly say so, but I inferred from the programme and the fact that the moos were home during the day that it was the case.

The moo with the 19-stone 13-year-old daughter (Pavia) and the moo of the obese 4-year-old seemed like SAHMoos to me.

One thing I couldn't help noticing from all of the parents was them coming out with things like "tonight I'm making a lazy tea" and "I just want an easy life"- if you want an easy life, then DON'T HAVE KIDS.

Pavia just summed up every reason why I don't want kids- I'd hate to end up looking after a surly brat like her while knowing it was all my fault. I could see how the moo had created a monster by letting her Golden Child get her own way all the time, to the point where she developed a monstrous sense of entitlement, ended up with no respect for her mother at all and spent her days pretty much terrorising her ("she gets quite aggressive with me- and she's bigger than me!"). Believe it or not my Golden Child sister was even bigger than her, even more surly and even further in denial, and watching the scenes with that family was very painful for me- I could see exactly how they ended up that way.

I felt a bit sorry for some of the children but much more sorry for the healthcare professionals who had to treat their entirely preventable diseases- like the doctor who had a parent complain about her for using the F-word (FAT, of course!) and the dentist who seemed to barely contain his rage as he explained that parunts miss "one in five" of his appointments.

The most depressing thing was probably the little update at the end: "Fatty Liver Boy's parunts are still trying to get his fatty liver sorted... Pavia hasn't gained any more weight- but hasn't lost any either... Obese Four-Year-Old is still obese but now also has no teeth." The parunts had all clearly done sweet FA to help their children- perhaps they all value an "easy life" over keeping a human being in their care happy and healthy. Actually, there's no "perhaps" about it- we all know they don't give a shit.

One more thing I hadn't realised: this thing is a series. Nope, not a one-off- there are even more feckless parents where these came from! Tell us something we don't know, Channel 4...

It's on YouTube now:

https://m.youtube.com/?hl=en&gl=US&client=mv-google#/watch?v=w9IaK6bNodA
(That's the link I was using while watching it on my kindle)

These parents are wishy-washy. When my mom said we weren't getting any candy at the store, we left the damn store with no fucking candy. If my mom told me to put my laptop down while she talked to me, you can bet I'd put it away or it would be in the trash.

The obesity counselor was spot on when he pointed out that Pavia's mother didn't seem to have trouble parenting when it came to setting boundaries about things other than food - it was fine for Pavia to be unhappy about not being able to go running off wherever with her friends, but gawd forbid she have to eat a damn vegetable.

Most (if not all?) the parents I saw were overweight as well. They don't care about their health, which is fine, but they're dragging their kids down with them. The kids don't really have a choice or an informed consent to the way they're being raised. And by the time they reach Pavia's age, the issue seems so entrenched and insurmountable that they can't face it.

I showed it to my mum,an early childhood specialist. She was pretty horrified at Talulah's fat lazy moo, when she seemed to be finding it funny that her kid was climbing all over the kitchen work tops and trying to steal food. My parents would have tanned my hide for that!

As for the tantrum throwing in the shops, I wouldn't have been getting any sweets if I'd whinged even for a second. If my parents said no, it meant no, end of. Behaving in public was expected, there were no bribes on offer. And chocolate and sweets and crisps etc were not everyday foods anyway. The only time I had crisps as a little kid was at birthday parties, we didn't have them in the house normally. And what the fuck is this with sending your kids to bed with a bottle of juice? We had water, once you brushed your teeth that was it til morning!

How are these kids going to get by with so few teeth, btw? Pulling teeth like that isn't the norm in the U.S. - kids get cavities drilled and filled just like adults. Are they pretty much limited to gooshy foods now till their adult teeth come in??

BTW, the disrespect Talulah's mom showed in skipping that dentist appt. really cheesed me off. I would give my left tit to have free medical care, and she just pissed all over it.

Right? Bring them over here where affordable dentistry means you're paying a premium every month from some chosen privatized insurance plan (in addition to your medical and vision plans because all three are separate entities). Depending on your plan, you still have to pay a copay and maybe your insurance doesn't cover everything, so you'll get a bill demanding that you pay a few hundred bucks for the cleaning, X-Rays, whatever. And if you need any procedures (like having your child's complete set of teeth pulled out), you'll be paying a percentage of the pre-insurance cost after the deductible.

After some good old American healthcare bullshit, they might appreciate the NHS and show up for a goddamn appointment.

As for Pavia, she'll start learning to eat vegetables and such when she's the fifth wheel when out with her friends or just left out completely and sitting at home alone and lonely because her friends all have boyfriends or are out trolling for boyfriends. She'll be the fat best friend; great as the funny sidekick to the lead in romantic comedies, but never gets the HEA herself.

And that's if her friends don't just completely turn on her. Teen girls are monsters and are known to become completely evil to people that were their besties last week. When everybody else in school is bullying Pavia for being fat, her friends don't want to get bullied by association and will distance themselves. Given that Pavia, her family, and their slovenly ways have been aired on national television, I would be surprised if bullying did not happen as a result.

Her mother will likely sabotage any efforts Pavia takes to lose weight. Moo is fat and unattractive, so daughter needs to be fat and unattractive so she can't flaunt being young, hot, and free.

Episode 2 of this was even more infuriating. The doctor who said "it isn't about poverty, it's about priorities" hit the nail on the head- takeways are expensive and toothbrushes are cheap, I used to buy packs of 2 for 15p and I'd use them to clean my bicycle chain and gears.

The guy pleading poverty while carrying a big stack of takeaway pizzas past a massive garden trampoline was proof positive of that. As for his banging on about "having" to feed a family of eight on a single wage- no-one forced him and his wife to shit out six kids. The sight of them running round in their pyjamas eating pizzas, chips and doner meat from boxes on the floor made me queasy- surely most people can see how wrong that is? Again, I wouldn't feed an animal that crap.

He also couldn't be arsed about his son needing four (later five) teeth to be taken out under general anaesthetic, having learned nothing from his daughter needing six removed at around the same age: "What's losing a few teeth as long as he's happy? I'll just comfort him with a few sweets, he'll be fine"- was he actually paid to say that? I can't believe anyone could be that much of a walking parody.

The Romanian family were particularly heartbreaking- the daughter was put on a diet and exercise plan but it didn't work out because the family couldn't be arsed with it and saw surgery as a way for their daughter to get magically thin without the rest of them having to do anything.

The thing about this which really makes me angry is the way so many of the parents seem so blasé about the prospect of their children having major surgery. With general anaesthetic there's always a risk of death, even in young and healthy people, and in obese people it's even greater than usual- and the parents don't give a shit. Again, they'd do anything for a quiet life, even if that means putting one of their children at risk of death, and the stomach reduction surgery changing their life forever even if they did manage to survive. I couldn't help wondering if any of the parents were hoping the surgeons would inadvertently perform a PNA here.
Re: "Junk Food Kids" on Channel 4 last night

I was raised by drug addicts in what was at times, extreme poverty. Almost starved to death as a child, never once saw a doctor or dentist (NOT an exaggeration - I went through several ugly health crisis that affect me today and parents left me in my room to suffer) and even in the short periods where we weren't poor, we might have eaten a little more often but I sure never saw a dr even then, or got much attention. We were given soda and taught how to use the microwave. I was not taught to take care of my teeth or hygiene, it was not discovered that I was visually impaired (now legally blind) until teachers realized I was actually extremely smart, I just *couldn't see.*

As an adult, all of my teeth have begun to break and I've had to have my front teeth completely replaced, a couple of molars pulled, and I *still* have thousands of dollars worth of work to go. Probably enough to pay for a new farm. I had to break the addiction to soda and it was difficult for me. Luckily school and the desire for a social life fixed the hygiene issues.

But I have a lifetime of serious health complications. I am legally blind, hard of hearing (damaged eardrums from untreated ear infections), I have malabsorption and cannot digest food properly. I do not gain weight and struggle to not lose weight - here I am, almost 30, and I still can't break 100lbs and stay there. I cannot drive because I have no depth perception, and have some very serious anxiety issues (agoraphobia) and issues with food - I have to fight to not eat all of the food in the house after grocery shopping. Because I will and have done it - the mindset was, "Eat it now or you'll get none at all."

I literally had that said to me, many many many times.

Fuck shitty breeders. Fuck them. I didn't ask to be born and how dare they put a child through the hellhole they created with their cocaine addictions. My lifespan will be far shorter than it should have been because they couldn't stay coked out long enough to give a fuck about the brat they farted out because they couldn't understand the concept of a condom.

However, please don't feel bad for me. I have long come to terms with all of the above, I have a wonderful husband, a nice little home. I work my dream job, have enough money to buy all the food I could ever want, and I am CHILDFREE and HAPPY! grinning smiley

Fossy: friendly hug

I'm so sorry you had to go through such a Hell at the hands of your shitty breeders, and still suffer the long-term health effects. Internet hugs to you.

I know you are living a good life now, but it took a lot of courage and stamina to get to where you are today. I too lived a shitty life with my single moo and famblee, and had to carve out a decent life for ME all by myself. Nobody did it for me. Plenty of work and therapy for my permanent mental illness, which was caused from sexual and physical abuse. We are living proof that it can be done. And living a CF life is certainly one way to obtain happiness.

I didn't cook much when I was alone, but I love cooking now. I will whip up a roast, ribs or skinless chicken breasts in the oven or crock pot. I love making sauces, chilli's, gravies and potatoes. Last week I made spatzel, and they turned out perfect! I fried the leftovers the next day and they were delish. I plan to make them again with an apple-jelly glazed pork roast and sauerkraut.

I also enjoy baking again, something that I used to do before I became single. I'm no expert, but I love making tarts, cookies and cakes. I even brought some home baked cookies to my moo in the home, but she was fast asleep when I got there so I left them there for her along with a bag of candy. It felt nice to bring her something homemade, that I created, that she would enjoy. They were maple caramel chip. Super yummy, and tastier than anything that comes out of a bag from the grocery store.

My husband enjoys cooking too, and fries a mean steak. I think it's all about wanting to be healthy and not rely on restaurants to feed us (safely or not). I think that cooking has become a lost art form. It's so much more convenient to go for takeaway, but really, the negative health effects and expense isn't worth it in the long run. That, and I find cooking to be very therapeutic.

Moos and duhs become reliant on restaurant takeaways and fast food because it keeps their little sneauflayxe quiet and happy. They are so interested in avoiding any type of conflict with their kyds, that they create long-term health problems for them. It's really sad. No wonder obesity and related health problems are on the rise.

I also forgot to mention that breeders are too lazy to cook.
Re: "Junk Food Kids" on Channel 4 last night

Meh, I am not surprised.

I personally know of a few women who have given their children food nontop 24/7 in order to get the little fuckers to leave Moomy alone. Fucking retards think that by giving a child food to keep its fucking mouth busy and stop bothering Moomy is doing them both a favor.

Did I say that brains are not a prerequisite for breeding? LOL
Re: "Junk Food Kids" on Channel 4 last night

they choose their own convenience over the health of their children.

This is the story of most breeders' lives. Do whatever is easiest, not what's best. Plus, when it comes to lardass kids, I think a lot of parents assume that their brats won't eat vegetables or fruit. This probably stems from Moo being forced to eat squash or cauliflower or some thing she didn't like as a kid. So they feed their kids shit right out of the gate and then when the kid throws a tantrum over not getting their ice cream and soda every day, Moo's too much of a pussy to say NO. It's far easier to give the kid whatever it's screaming for than to set boundaries.

And as selidororous mentioned, many Moos will shove food in their kids' pieholes to keep them busy and away from Mommy, which paves the road for weight problems. All a kid learns from that is that they should eat when they get bored.

Then when the kid needs half its teeth pulled or develops diabetes, the handlers won't comply with medical advice/exercise regimens/medications and will keep right on feeding their fatties garbage. If they want to murder their kids, just fucking blow their brains out and quit killing them slowly by neglecting or ruining their health.
