Just a bit of fluff. Overall, the answers to "do you take a small kid to an open house" were sensible, but this cow just had to take a dump

We took our kids to all kinds of open houses! Just make sure they behave. It's not like it's a fancy art gallery.

O'rly? Taking kids to the home of any stranger, you had rootin' tootin' better make them act like it's akin to a "fancy art gallery." Hands at their sides, no taking off.

We had contemplated selling our house. I had such plans for a small cottage. Turns out, the market in our area will not deliver the price we want for it, so we're going to put it off. However, we had gotten to the point of getting the place ready for the market, putting stuff in storage, etc. I pulled all the small tchotchkes off the shelves, took up rugs, made sure there wasn't anything on the closet floors ... and was still paranoid about our books and the larger decorative items in the house. When the realtor said "oh, I have a family in mind who will likely want to look at your house," my shoulders dropped and I had a sense of foreboding. I didn't want any kids rambling through our home.

If the market turns up and our place has the chance of a better price, I'm just going to clear the whole damned place; put everything in storage. We can live in our RV. I know that otherwise, I'll be checking the house after each viewing, wondering if kids had messed up anything.

I'll bet that cow's house looks like a hoarder's den. I also imagine she'd actually take her kid to a fancy art gallery and let the crackmonkey loose like they were at a park, likely waddling around and braying at the thing the whole time.

Being the freak that I am, I would hate having brats in my house. Afraid they'd puke or shit somewhere, which some do without warning. Plus having to board both dog and cat for the day.. And sticky paws everywhere.two faces puking Dog does not like strangers, but can be kept under control. Cat is a first-class a$$hole, and could maul an annoying midget. Hubby has bike parts all over the place, he is restoring three at the moment. Also a super expensive stereo, and antique furniture from his great grand father. In a situation like that, I'd be shadowing the famblee like a hawk.
Crazy me :crz :goggle

I'd follow them around, too, whether that blows a potential sale or not. It's your house, and those potential buyers had better follow your house rules. I could go on and on about how I don't trust realtors to keep their clients in line.

I wouldn't even let them put a lock box on my door, and I wouldn't give my realtor a key. It would be appointment-only showings, with me home, and me following the whole famblee from room to room. And if the realtor won't herd the whole famblee together (no kyds being allowed to go exploring), you bet I will be the one to say something.

They want the freedom to criticise the house with the realtor? Wait until you get outside or back in the realtor's car or back at the realtor's office.

I wouldn't let any kyds use my toilet, either. I have stories about this; realtors do not care, and they will allow their clients to do all kinds of things and say nothing for fear of offending a client and risking losing a sale. They let clients track mud inside, they leave the house unlocked and all the lights burning, they let your dog run out into the street, they use your toilets and go #2 and don't even flush...yeah, I have bad experiences with realtors.

I know there are good and bad realtors, and I know that the things that offend me (touching my things, tracking "just a little dirt" [mud], using my toilet, letting my dog out) are things that many home sellers consider very minor annoyances and something you just have to put up with if you want to sell the house.

But, such is my value system, and after my personal experiences, I know how I'd personally handle it. They may consider me an extraordinarily difficult client and not want to work with me, but then I'd just sell it myself.

As an aside, there was a news story recently about a couple who noticed their prescriptions going missing, and they set up a hidden cam and caught their own realtor stealing their prescription drugs.

I don't let people in my house. I have swords and weapons laying around as well as porn and other adult things (academic study books). They would think I was a drug dealing sleaze (with a degree) and leave. Lol! That and I'm an out tranny, scares squares away pretty fast, especially if they have chillin's

I think the key thing is "make sure they behave." No one does that anymore.

As for the art gallery part, it's not like they actually behave at those (or museums) either. I've had one too many museum trips ruined by screaming brats.

Hell I sold a vacant home and they messed it up doing showings. The realtor was all - well you want to sell it right? Sometimes we have to put up with some inconvenience to get it done, blah, blah. Fuck you disrespecting my property. It will NEVER happen again. Next house I will sell myself even if I lose money, because I just can't take that attitude again and I will lose it on someone.

I know so many people now who don't even think about their actions affecting others and how there may just be some consequences to that and that it is just plain wrong. If this kind of thing keeps being accepted it will get worse and you will not be able to trust anyone ever - so how do you conduct business if the majority have no empathy or decency. Some don't even care if they spread killer diseases to the public because of something a crazy bimbo from MTV said. They don't care if people die because of them so why should they care if their brats break a vase or shit in your toilet and don't flush it. Then the real estate agent would tell you it's just part of doing business, ho hum.

Breeders have absolutely no respect where it comes to other people's property. Look at the shitholes they live in, and you can see why. If they don't respect their own homes, why respect other people's homes?

Not only that, but I think there's a level of anger inside of breeders, where they feel trapped and miserable, and bringing their unruly brats to wherever they choose, thinking that if THEY have to put up with the bullshit, so does everyone else.

As for saying that people's homes aren't like fancy art galleries, that's neither here nor there. People keep valuable mementos in their homes, expensive keepsakes and irreplaceable items. If they get smashed by a brat, the breeders will NEVER pay for the broken items, rather, they will just say something stupid like "Kids will be kids" and laugh it off.

I shudder to think of what will happen when it's time for us to move. We have a two bedroom townhouse, and I know that breeders and brats will be coming through, possibly manhandling shit. I will be watching them like a fucking HAWK to make sure they don't molest anything. Many of my items are breakable and vintage, and many are irreplaceable to me. If anyone breaks anything, I will be on them like stink on a monkey.
