However, what's most telling is this...

So basically the parunts were getting plastered at a bowling club party , while the brats were running wild at a war memorial - and /sarcasm shock, horror - something bad happens!

Hope the parents of the out of control runt are brought up on charges for letting their runt run around unencumbered. Their negligence caused this.

What decent parent allows their kids to treat a war memorial as a playground? There isn't a legitimate excuse for this behavior. The lack of respect and obvious stupidity is appalling.

Parunts of the world, kids require constant supervision. You cannot leave a kid younger than 6 alone for even 5 minutes or something bad will most likely happen. There are kids who cannot ever be left alone until they hit 18 and before you have more kids consider whether or not you're willing to deal with this. There are definitely kids who can be left alone from a fairly young age but there isn't a way to guarantee yours will be amongst this group. And once there is more than one kid running around there is no way to know whether or not the strange kid is one who can be trusted to not crawl on top of a memorial, a dresser, encourage a group of kids to eat laundry packets, or similar.

There was a war memorial next to the courthouse in our town that was always a popular spot for wedding party photos.
It was the anchor from a ship and it was suspended by a thick chain. A groomsman was posing on the anchor when the chain broke and amputated his leg.
Needless to say this anchor/memorial is no longer suspended but just on the ground now.
Talk about a bummer reception. I take it there would be no dances with that groomsman.
