One disturbing fact about this movie is the cold and mentally ill woman who (of course!) doesn't want children. Plenty of narcissists have children though the world would be a much better place if all narcissists would stop having children. There are way too many who choose to parent because they see their children as an extension of themselves and someone they can easily control.

And "Basic Instinct"...cold and potentially crazy woman without kids. The movie "Mercy".. cold woman villain with no kids. "Fatal Attraction"...crazy woman who has affair doesn't have kids. There are many more than this but these were considered related movies on the movie website visited.

Disturbing.
I remembered movie "Malice" (1993) where a con woman
keeps having abortions for profit.

The Fatal Attraction chick had baby rabies though.

TDF protagonist is grossed out by what having kids does to the body.

"You can't run from place to place with your crew following and conduct serious interviews with a big, fat stomach. Or say you've already had the baby, and you've got this blubber...these boobs out to here. It's just so gross."

I want to pick up a bus full of unruly kids and feed them gummi bears and crack, then turn them loose in Hobby Lobby to ransack the place. They will all be wearing T shirts that say "You Could Have Prevented This."

There are "shortcuts" writers take to quickly establish character. This works best in short format, where you don't have a lot of time to establish character (short stories, visual media under half an hour, that kind of thing). For instance, if someone kicks a dog, you immediately know that's a Bad Guy.

Unfortunately, I think "doesn't have/like kids" has become the shortcut for "emotionally distant/cold." After all, only the heartless don't love kids!

In a long format like a movie, there's no excuse for using that kind of shortcut. That's just lazy writing, and damaging to the CF to boot.
