And yet, turn on the boob tube and what do you see? Baybees, baybees, baybees and every possible decision related to a product involves BRATS. Toilet paper, taking a vacation, skin lotion, doing something nice for oneself, investment decisions, why one should pursue a healthful lifestyle....it all revolves around brats.

Totally agree, as did someone else who recently ranted about a Dr. Scholls commercial that involved baybees.

I don't think advertising is nearly as creative or cool as it used to be. Also, heaven forbid that three people are offended by an edgy commercial--thanks to social media, nobody wants to be bombarded by 50,000 angry Facebook-fueled Moos who are upset about something that is even slightly off-color.

So the message is: Get a degree for your (nonexistent or not-yet-existent) grandchild!
God forbid you do anything for yourself.

I was just noting today, that every commercial is somehow 'for' kids,....even if it's vitamins or medicines for seniors, the seniors "Have" to take their meds so they can exercise w/ grandbrat and dance around the house. In the olden days, they would show granny doing a number of things as an older adult, not just the grandkids.

Fuck...I know it's been a long time since I've watched regular tv (vs. streaming online), but I don't remember the commercials being so damn breederific. Every one was either parent/child or don't you just love? the mop/broom commercials that have the kids making a holy hell of a mess and mom (sometimes even dad) runs behind them cleaning up with a fucking smile. I know it's just advertising, but damn....you would think that the only people who spend money are breeders. I really hate the car commercials with the cars that stop automatically and the kids are all in their seats, holding their sippy cups upright (yeah, right....), laughing away when dad looks back at them.
Not sure why this all has my panties in a wad. I guess because lately I've been able to block out that kids exist (to a point, anyway), and it was commercial after commercial and I was already cranky for other reasons.

my grocery store has a BIG SIGN by the bakery. With a giant pic of a toadler with cake all over it's ugly face! Apparently there's a "thing" where the kid gets a "real" b'day cake and a SMASH CAKE! The latter, they are expected to smash all over their face!! Waste and bad life lessons, anyone!!? I cannot stand to see that poster!

Really they can't think of anything else, and so many women are not at home during the day any more, why can't they think if anything else than pandering to moos?

The biggest audience TV has at any time of the day is probably unemployed Moos who sit on their asses watching their shows all fucking day while their kids are at daycare/school, so of course all the advertisements have to pander to them. They're gonna go out and spend other people's hard-earned money (either the taxpayers' money or their husbands' money) on the stupid shit that the idiot box tells them they need to make their lives as bizzy moms easier. Unless advertisers are selling pistols and alibis, none of that crap will make their lives genuinely easier, but since Moos loooove getting stroked, they'll lap it up and then go shopping.
Sounds like I'm not missing too much by not having cable.
