Artist illustrates the "struggle" of TTCing

Damn, that site has been giving me a lot of fodder lately. Anyway, I realize this isn't anything overly crazy, but goddamn what a bunch of fetus-humping bullshit, like, "We’ve realized that a family of our own is the biggest creation we can hope for.” Biggest in what way? Most financially-draining and soul-sucking? Considering this guy's fantastic artistic abilities, I'd call it the biggest waste of talent because you KNOW he's not gonna be making comics anymore once Loafley comes along.

The artwork itself, while very beautifully drawn, demonstrates shit that I just cannot imagine becoming a thing my life revolves around because barren people throw themselves head-first into TTCing like nothing else matters. I'm glad he and his partner were able to find humor in their attempts, but I couldn't stand that crap where infertiles will have sex on scheduled days to try and conceive. When sex becomes for procreation only, that's the beginning of the end for a relationship. If baby rabies strikes, sex is no longer an act of intimacy, romance, or pleasure. It's WORK because the only reason you're doing it is to try and make a loaf. Then when the woman gets her period, it's treated like some kind of a catastrophe, and once she gets up the duff, she thinks they don't ever need to have sex again.

Why can't it just be you have sex like normal people instead of fussing and fretting so much? I've read many, many stories about these heifers who want to have tons and tons of sex in the same 3-day window every month, but will shove their partners away for wanting it at any other time because it's not the prime fertility window. Then if the guy can't get it up because it's the fifth time that day and he needs a rest, she'll give him hell for it.

Not to mention all the other crap like sex positions that allegedly increase the odds of pregnancy, or things that boost fertility and libido that are really just a placebo effect at best. And I love the ending where they're all happy that "we did it!" like they achieved something genuinely monumental. Honey, if you're happy about it, that's fantastic, but don't act like you've just cured cancer when you did something that teenagers do by accident in backseats all the time.

I suppose I don't understand the joy in this kind of "struggle" because I don't want kids, but perhaps to someone who really wants them, it would be worth the trouble. I just can't imagine going through all this shit for a creature that won't let you sleep, tells you it hates you, and ruins every single thing you have.

Edit: Pronoun changes because I didn't realize the artist was the guy at first.

I've seen this guy's comics before and thought they were good. Now, never again.

Pardon me for asking, but what is TTCing? I've seen TTC, but I have no idea what it is.

Trying to conceive.

Aww man, I used to love this guy's art, now he's just another fucking breeder.

Yuck. That one with the calendar date circled - is it just me or does anyone else think it's weird that wannabreeds plan sex like that? They treat it like a chore. I've never known a guy younger than 40 who didn't want to get laid every day. Is it that the wives turning it into a task instead of a fun, spontaneous and intimate activity? Or is some long-running trope that goes back to the idea that once Baybee is coming you don't want to screw anymore like you did when you first got together?

Same, I've never known a guy of any age who would ever object to sex at any time. I can guarantee you it's the woman's idea to have scheduled sex when it's loaf-makin' time, and it might not be so bad if they didn't demand a month's worth of sex in a 72-hour period and then acts like the guy is a pig if he wants it at any other time. In a healthy (and sexually active) relationship, sex is typically an act of intimacy and a way for two people who care about one another to be close and enjoy each other as well as themselves.

Sex changes when it's about making a brat. It becomes a "wholesome" activity and it can only happen around the woman's fertile time, and when it doesn't, it's inappropriate and dirty. It's like how boobs go from being sexual to maternal when a kid is involved. Pre-loaf, most women like their partners groping their tits. Post-loaf, she'll act like he's a sex-crazed pervert if he tries to touch her. Then they wonder why their men leave or cheat.

I'm sure, just like every other pair of first-time parents, these two will say they won't let themselves become like their other breeder friends and they won't let their child interfere with their normal lives. They'll be different. They'll still love one another and do the things they love and they won't allow their identities become consumed entirely by parenthood. But it'll happen anyway because it always happens. I think it's just too hard to merge who you were before brats with who you are after them, so it's easier to just surrender to parenthood and leave who you were (and who your partner fell in love with) behind.

Wow, it looks pretty unflattering to his wife. I suppose it's in jest but it doesn't look like a whole lot of fun.

I don't understand people who have marital problems because they can't conceive, but then again I didn't sign up for a marriage promising to be a broodmare. Shouldn't you be marrying someone because you love each other first? Some people are never able to have kids.

It looks like every other story of a couple's "battle" against infertility: the woman is batshit nuts and the guy just goes along with it because hey bareback sex! I have never seen a guy get as invested in trying to conceive as a woman. In fact, I've never see a guy get invested at all.

And you know this is all they fucking talk about even outside the bedroom. Go to appointments to make her fertile enough for a clump to stick, remember to pick up a dump truck full of oysters for dinner so we're good and horny, buy $200 worth of sexy lingerie to seduce him, buy pregnancy tests in bulk because she will do pee tests five times a day and cry when every single one is negative, furiously research things that increase and decrease fertility and scream at the guy if he does anything that allegedly decreases it like exposing his balls to a hot bath, charting temperatures and mucous viscosity to determine when the woman is at peak fertility, REMEMBER SEX DAY, and I'm sure lots of finger pointing when Aunty Flo comes a-knockin' because it means the guy didn't do his "duty."

Infertiles are goddamn crazy. I guarantee, like every other barren breeder, these two are already romanticizing parenthood to an extreme degree, so when they finally do get their loaf, it won't be at all like they imagined and they'll just be perpetually disappointed in the whole thing. Then they'll try for another one because they're fucking stupid.

Never mind the fact that fertility specialists tell you *not* to make love more frequently than every other day if you're TTCing. Ejaculation depletes sperm; frequent ejaculation depletes it so much that the chances of conceiving actually drop. So anyone trying for a month's worth of sex in a 72-hour period is liable to be unpleasantly surprised when the stick stubbornly refuses to turn blue.

It'll be interesting what the comics show when the reality of the situation sets in. Provided he has the guts to do it

CERTIFIED HOSEHEAD!!!

people (especially women) do not give ONE DAMN about what they inflict on children and I defy anyone to prove me wrong

Dysfunctional relationships almost always have a child. The more dysfunctional, the more children.

The selfish wants of adults outweigh the needs of the child.

Some mistakes cannot be fixed, but some mistakes can be 'fixed'.

People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one. Leo J. Burke

Adoption agencies have strict criteria (usually). Breeders, whose combined IQ's would barely hit triple digits, have none.

Hopefully they had the sense to wait until she is past the first trimester to make the big announcement. A very high number of pregnasties never make it past this mark.

I don't think there is a baby anywhere that would wish to be born to a couple obsessive about their looks, who both workout all the time, and are workaholics. It is going to be really hard for a couple like that to put a baby first and I would guess someone in their family is going to wind up feeling screwed over.

I doubt they will, especially if their families read their comics. People who struggle to get knocked up love screaming it from the rooftops the second they get a positive piss test. I think people who have a hard time conceiving also have a higher chance of miscarriage because if it's so hard to make the clump, it's usually hard to make it stick too.

I'm sure it'll be cutesy comics about how the loaf gets baby food everywhere but in its mouth, or Duh in a biohazard suit handling a dirty diaper with a ten foot pole. Stuff that breeders can tee-hee at. I doubt they'll show the harsher reality of nobody sleeping, their careers suffering (and subsequent loss of fans), their relationship failing, sex becoming non-existent, her looking like a dumpster fire and turning into a screaming bitch with PPD, and not being able to do or afford most of the things they did before. And if they do show those things, it'll be concluded with something about how it's all worth it. I'm sure there will also be occasional bitter pokes at unchilded friends.

I'm seeing this kinda shit unfold with a former classmate on Facebook. Both he and his wife are also professional artists and they announced their "blessed news" on social media and seemed to imply that hey, nothing's gonna change in their life and this kid isn't gonna rule the roost, but we're such an awesome team that it's all gonna work out just fine. Now that wife-Moo is nearing her sluice date, I'm sensing a little of that joy has dried up. The last update for the "happy couple" that I read a couple days ago was something like, "This will be our last Christmas as just the two of us. Gonna get as much sleep as we can now. Enjoy life, everyone!" I think they're getting a hint of buyer's remorse because they don't know what to expect.

Damn shame because these two are a wonderful couple and I just really don't think there's going to be room in their lives for a kid. They aren't immature or broke or anything, it's just I can foresee this kid driving a wedge between them.

Very true, especially for people who haven't had many miscarriages in a row to frustrate them and make them hesitate before another announcement is made that is later retracted.

Can practically see the comics already from your description and betting you're spot on. Perhaps the sleep one will be okay to poke fun at along with the Duh in biohazard and the baby food everywhere. But the rest of those harsh realities won't be in comics because breeders won't laugh at it so there will be no audience. Definitely bitter pokes and you're next for the unchilded friends. Wondering if there will be any mama bear claws exposed.

This is sad, almost sounds as if they both have a terminal illness when they tell others to enjoy life. Maybe someone cued them on the realities of parenting once they were inpig. Can't imagine two professional artists having an easy time parenting either. Exhaustion doesn't lead to creativity.

Ohh, but dontcha know that rules are made to be broken? If someone tells these people they can't have something, they'll turn into children themselves and make it their life's mission to get that one thing they can't have at all costs! Never mind there might be a reason they can't get knocked up! What does nature know anyway?

I could also see the Duh using his art as an escape from parenthood and throwing himself into it even more than he does now to get away from the Moo-wife and kid. Kinda like the Duhs who get addicted to playing XBox - they find out breeding isn't all it's cracked up to be and do everything they can to escape reality by playing games for hours and hours instead of interacting with their family. If I had to guess, art is what these two do for a living, so there is no day job he can go to for relief from them.

I'm sure he'll do comics about the struggles of parenthood, but like you said, only the ones that can be twisted into humor. What he won't draw or share is the comics about how his wife shoves him away if he tries to do so much as hug her because she's a beautiful momma goddess now and he will not sully her maternal temple of a body with his dirty sexual desires and touching. Or how she calls him a pervert for noticing that her rack has grown five-fold and wants to cop a feel. He won't share how, when their annual sex session does happen, he can't feel anything because she's stretched out like an old stocking. He won't depict the frequent arguments because they disagree on parenting methods, or how Moo-Wife won't let him help raise their child because only mothers know how to do that (but she'll still call him a deadbeat for not "doing his share of the work"). He won't depict how she turns into a shrieking harpy and bitches him out for the most trivial things and then blames it on PPD that magically lasts for years and years so she can have an excuse to be a bitch. He won't depict how he winds up banging a female friend that he sought comfort from because he wanted to be treated like a human being and not like a verbal punching bag and a wallet.

Obviously I could be wrong and maybe they'll be great parents. But with each generation that goes by, it seems like there are more and more people who seem to want to have kids, but don't want to be parents. Then when they breed, they take it out on each other and on the kid.

I know, I've been having to see a bunch of Facebook posts about beautiful Moo-wife/BFF this and "happy happy gonna be parents WHOOOO" that. They're surprisingly modest about their sharing, though. It's not like 25 posts a day about how holly and jolly they feel about their impending loaf, so perhaps they have the makings of PNBs.

When they posted their "enjoy life" update, a lot of people in the comments were going, "LOL enjoy sleep while you can because you won't have much for a few years!" Stuff like that. I think they're getting scared and wondering if they made a huge mistake. I mean no take-backsies now since Moo-Wife's looking like a bloated tick and she's gonna pop in a month or so. I wish them the best, but goddamn I don't envy them.

I wish people could stop being self-centered fucksticks for once in their life and actually consider adoption if they're having fertility problems. Of course that'll never happen, because it's not about raising and nurturing a unique individual, it's about fawning over the metaphorical jambalaya you can make with some other person and their DNA.
