Uber driver ditches passenger when they learn she's on her way to get an abortion

The passenger gave the driver an address without saying the name of the place and he somehow knew it was an abortion clinic and then refused to take her to her destination because he didn't like where she was going. Makes me wonder if he's driven a few baby-mommas to that clinic that he knocked up behind his wife's back, given his familiarity with the address.

This is right along the lines of asshole pharmacists refusing to dispense birth control because it conflicts with their personal beliefs. Doesn't matter what you personally believe in, you're paid to perform a service, period. Any sort of moral or ethical concerns aside, the driver failed to do his job.

I think after all was said and done, the driver was banned from Uber and she was able to make it to her appointment a little late. He also seemed to intentionally take a more out-of-the-way route to the clinic (like out in the sticks) before refusing to go further, which sounds a lot like he was trying to drive her to an isolated place in order to make her feel like shit and/or abandon her. And he offered to take her back. Who is to say he would have done so, or done so safely? He might have taken her off to some random location to "teach her a lesson" about "murdering babies."

Glad he got booted. If he was allowed to get away with not doing his job once, he'd definitely do it again.

That definitely sounds like he intended to "punish" her somehow. Fucking anti-choice assholes.
Mean thing for him to say, but the world would be a better place if the driver's mother was pro choice.

HAHAHAHAHAHA
I'm SO OVER forced birthers, particularly male forced birthers like this douche bag who feel perfectly justified to inject themselves into a woman's life. Now that the Orange Cheeto is in charge, they just keep coming and they are emboldened. They know the Supreme court is friendly to them now.

I'm mystified why all women, particularly women of reproductive age, are not rioting in the streets when these forced-birther males pass legislation outlawing abortion past six weeks EVEN IN THE CASE OF RAPE OR INCEST and with NO provision to save a woman's life.

I get it that some women might not choose abortion for an accidental pregnancy, but do they not comprehend? You get pregnant from a rape, you WILL be birthing your rapist's baybee, thanks to another man who decided this was the best course of action, not that he will ever experience rape and pregnancy.

You get pregnant and find out you have cancer and want to terminate so you can start chemo and save your life? Too bad, that choice has been removed from you because some man thought you should have your baybee. You get pregnant with a fetus with Trisomy 13 and will die shortly after birth and you want to terminate because you think that's the humane thing to do? Too bad.

Why are women required to see a doctor to get the Pill? If men got pregnant, the Pill would have been over the counter 40 years ago and the abortion pill would be OTC too. It would be DONE. The Pill is not particularly dangerous--there are many more OTC drugs that have bigger side effects. You do not have to consult a doctor to get a cigarette, which is much more dangerous.

A man who cannot keep a stiffy doesn't have to see a doctor. He can go to an internet Pill Mill, receive a 10 minute phone consultation with a doctor and get a prescription. I don't see anyone cracking down on those Pill Mills. Some of those drugs cause eye hemorrhages and serious damage to vision. Where are the patronizing laws mandating that men have physical exams and vision tests prior to dispensing Vitamin V, because men don't have the wherewithal to understand their medical options? Oh right, they don't exist because men are big boys who can make their own decisions regarding their reproductive organs and health.

Stiff dicks are the priority, but some males feel perfectly justified in erecting (joke!) barriers between women and drugs and medical care. That's some fucked up priorities. the world 'fail' on flames

Rant off.

I remember seeing a sign at a protest once, that said "If pregnancy is God's will then so is limp dick".

Oh but that's different! See it's not God's will if it's something that inconveniences the person themselves. Anything from infertility/impotence to brain tumors don't fall neatly into God's will because they cause a first-hand problem. Even if God did cause those problems, it's okay to make them go away with modern solutions/treatments if that's what the affected person wants. But something that can be used to control another person like pregnancy? Oh yup, totally divine intervention! God totally wanted her to get gang raped and that's why she needs to just shut up and have an unwanted baby because it's a miracle! eye rolling smiley

We interfere with God's will every fucking day any time we do anything that solves any sort of problem. If people are gonna blame things on religion, then they ought to commit to it fully and never EVER go to the hospital, buy convenience items, or do anything other than letting the chips fall where they may and doing nothing about it. Otherwise, they can shut the fuck up. If God didn't want people figuring out how to circumvent his will, then we wouldn't have been given the ability to figure out how to do so.

You can even get Vitamin V on Groupon now! https://www.groupon.com/deals/telladerm-md-33

It says that the buyer needs to have a consult with them but tell me it's not a Pill Mill situation. Yeah right. When I was a bartender about 20 years ago, there was this young guy who had just graduated from med school and he went around the bar giving out paper prescriptions for Viagra to the regulars. Ever notice too how much emphasis is put on the mental health of men who can't get hard ons, how "damaging" it is for them? The medical culture is enormously misogynist, and I say this as a patient and someone who has worked in it for over a decade.

The disturbing thing is that the pill is often prescribed for uses other than birth control, but because in some dim bulbs' minds it "causes abortion" and access can be restricted depending on where someone lives.

QFT. And yet a woman who is raped is expected to cheerfully carry her rapist's baybee and that won't be at all damaging to her mental or physical health. It blows my mind that Fundy Fucknuts actually believe a woman will eventually be overjoyed if she's forced to carry a rapist's baybee. She won't suffer any damage by carrying and birthing a rapist's child. So patronizing and misogynist.

If you google Viagra for sex offenders, you see some states have banned Medicaid from paying for Viagra for sex offenders. The GOP famously added a restriction for Viagra for sex offenders to federal Medicaid programs, which was voted down in 2010.

What politico does not tell you is that the republicans proposed removing the coverage for sex offenders BUT republicans also added a rider to remove coverage for RU-486 and abortions too. That's why democrats voted against it.

Republicans predictably used this example in campaign ads to show Democrats were "soft on criminals" without mentioning the other facts.

Don't forget to add in the forced contact with her rapist FOR 18 YEARS if he decides to pursue "paternal rights"!

Ashley Judd recently came out and said that’s one of the primary reasons why she aborted after being raped. Both Kentucky and Tennessee (one state was where she was raped and the other was where she was living) will force a woman to co-parent with her rapist if she keeps the baby.

"Why children take so long to grow? They eat and drink like pig and give nothing back. Must find way to accelerate process..."
- Dr. Yi Suchong, Bioshock

"Society does not need more children; but it does need more loved children. Quite literally, we cannot afford unloved children - but we pay heavily for them every day. There should not be the slightest communal concern when a woman elects to destroy the life of her thousandth-of-an-ounce embryo. But all society should rise up in alarm when it hears that a baby that is not wanted is about to be born."
- Garrett Hardin

"I feel like there's a message involved here somehow, but then I couldn't stop laughing at all the plotholes, like the part when North Korea has food."
- Youtube commentor referring to a North Korean cartoon.

"Reality is a bitch when it slowly crawls out of your vagina and shits in your lap."
- Reddit comment

"Bitch wants a baby, so we're gonna fuck now. #bareback"
- Cambion

Oh whatever. Abortion doctors are crimestoppers."

That is SO fucking insane. How is that not considered torture?
Why the fuck would anyone want a rapist raising a child? If they've committed a sex crime, they need to register as a sex offender (at least last I knew), and I don't think sex offenders can be within a certain distance of a child, even if their crimes weren't against kids. So how the hell would that work anyway?

I'm not even touching on the subject of the psychological damage it can do to a victim to give her rapist numerous access channels to her because he "needs" to help raise the child his assault created. Not to mention the chance of the rapist assaulting/abusing the child. God I hate this country.

Given the wealth of intelligence on Yahoo, I'm sure the comments were all totally rational and not praising the driver for trying to stop the "whore" from "killing" her "baby."
Yup. I read a few of the comments out of morbid curiosity, and they basically said that the driver saved her from an immoral act and that it was his choice not to take her to an abortion clinic.

Fuck people. I'm done with the human race.
Lots of pro-liar tripe in the comments. And most have no reading comprehension either. They said she was talking about the abortion. She wasn't. The driver is the one who asked if they were going to Planned Parenthood. She said they were going to a dr. appt. He then said it was for an abortion. And then he tried to guilt trip her about it and she asked him to stop. He knew the address was to an abortion clinic, he purposely accepted to try to shame her out of an abortion. Clearly it was premeditated on his part. There is likely a gaggle of people like him that do this to try to prevent abortions. It just smacks of the kind of crap they pull, hoping to change someone's mind and provide the story as entertainment to their church without a single thought as to how the woman was affected.

I would guess this clinic isn't isolated. I'd recommend anyone wanting to Lyft or Uber to such appointment to find another public location within a few blocks and use that address instead. Arrive early and go inside the public location for 10-15 minutes then walk a few blocks to the clinic. Don't put it past the religious nuts to attempt to stalk or resort to violence.

Unfortunately women have to resort to vigilant safety tactics often for being followed and also to maintain their safety.

I'm guessing you're right. I would not be surprised at all to find out that this is a pro-liar tactic, to sign up as a driver in and around towns with PP clinics for the express purpose of fucking with women trying to get to appointments there. They don't have to stand around with signs all day, they can just help delay women until it's too late for them to get help....
