Duh hides in the bathroom when he has to be a parent

It truly is amazing how little people communicate before getting married and having kids together, and then they wonder why the other person becomes "completely different." So, so many people don't find out they're completely incompatible with one another until after they've made long-term life choices together.

In any case, I wouldn't be able to pass a true judgment on these cases of lazy-ass useless fathers unless I could either hear both sides of the story or observe the parents in action. Because the one telling the story might be re-weaving it to make themselves out to sound like perfect angels. Did both of them want kids, or did Moo decide all by herself to bring children into the relationship? That could definitely have a LOT to do with a guy's involvement in domestic duties. What did Duh act like when they were just dating and before they had kids? What kinds of work do both parents do and/or does one stay home?

also think it's been studied elsewhere: males are just not invested in their offspring the way the moos are

Probably because unlike women, they don't have the tremendous up-front physical investment that women do. Like imagine how much you'd care about a computer you buy off the shelf compared to one you build yourself. You'll care WAY more about the one you made than the one you bought because it took more effort.

Good points. In the "worthless dad" stories, we only hear one side. The dad's side might be equally damning.

As for pre-marriage, pre-kids behavior: this is where a prolonged time of dating and/or engagement is good, and preferably during actual established adult years when one has had time away from one's family of origin. I've noticed that a LOT of young adults work through their family issues via relationships (both platonic and romantic). No one has to be perfect in order to date, but one must at least be aware of issues and trying to get oneself in good working order. Doesn't mean you shouldn't date someone who's still a bit "messy" in that department...but for Dawg's sake, don't go marrying and/or breeding with them!

Maybe being a duh makes you chronically constipated?

I suspect that a lot of these women are exaggerating the shit breaks. I tend to agree with most of the posts here, that even if duh does try to help, the moo will just yell at him and tell him he's doing it wrong.

I am SO glad this is not my life! Things may not always be perfect, but DAMN!

Ugh. Gotta love their dimwitted comments about feminism, like this gem:

"Feminism isn't about pressuring other women into being who you think they should be, or defining for them what would 'really make them happy'. That's what misogynists do, remember?"

The idea that critiquing other women's choices is somehow off limits or anti-feminist is just idiotic. Everything is up for analysis in this world, especially things that oppress or set women back. But maybe that's the radical feminist in me. These seem like shallow libfems who don't like to think too deeply about anything lest they stress their little bwains.

It's this kind of thinking that glamorizes porn/prostitution (and the associated human trafficking involved in both industries) & other sh!t that's just BAD for women & girls. The whole "sex work is real work" mantra that obscures the realities of these forms of modern slavery is a good example. Women are expected to turn off our critical thought & embrace our own oppression under this brand of "feminism" & doing otherwise is considered sacrilege--THAT'S the real misogyny. But I digress.

It's not like they sound super happy & empowered anyway, lolz. Just the opposite. Their posts sound utterly (udderly) miserable. That whole sub is a bitchfest about do-nothing husbands & the drudgery of momlife. Compare that to the tone of /r/childfree posts & tell me who's happier. Or happy at all.

Feminism does entail giving women choices, but not every choice has to be lauded as feminist. A lot of choices are neutral (what I make for lunch today, for example) and some put back the cause of feminism (every regressive woman who ever ran for public office).

In the context of a private life I suppose people can do whatever stupid shit they want (like ignore their education to stay at home with babies), but when actions set back the status of other women (like promoting that choice as superior for women), they definitely deserve to be lambasted for it.
