Moos thinking sex traffikers are after them

https://www.yahoo.com/news/mom-issues-terrifying-warning-being-230000338.html

This is not the first story I read, about a moo and it is always a moo in her thirties being around strange men in a store and thinking they want to kidnap and sell her.

The moo here is also thirty something and is made uncomfortable by a couple of guys in Target who are not paying attention to her, so much so that she has to ask a manager to walk her to her car, at night this is normal I guess, but I read a sinilar story of a moo claiming the same at Ikea.

Sex traffikkers do not kidnap moos in stores and parking lots , but befriend friendless runaway teens without support or family, ask them out on dates, flatter them until they get them in a place where there is no chance for help or for the perps to be seen and then toss them in a van where there are never seen again. The girls are usually in their mid teens and therefore "saleable" to nasty guys.

They do not hunt thirty something moos to sell in other countries. There is something about these stories that seem to be about ego and attention whoring.

That sounded like a work of absolute fiction. Melodramatic descriptors, unlikely drama (they knew which car, in the whole parking lot, was hers? Really?), racism, plus she goes out armed against sex traffickers and happens to encounter "sex traffickers"...if ANY of this story is true, I think it's likely she's convinced she's prime sex slave material, thus going out armed *specifically* against traffickers, and was bound to see someone sooner or later that she was convinced was after her hot self.

Most likely, though, she made the whole thing up. And it's not even good as a creative writing exercise. Her imagery is sometimes interesting, but the plot is thin and unconvincing. And the idea that these men knew exactly where she parked is just immersion-breaking. I'd grade it a C-.

Haha, don't flatter yourself, Moo. You couldn't pay someone to fuck you, let alone get them to pay for it.

Now could it be that a bunch of weirdos were following this woman around, sizing her up to mug her? Sure. Maybe they were all nuts. If you have a gut feeling saying something's not right, it's good to listen to it because that's why we have gut feelings. But to jump to the conclusion that these strange men were planning to kidnap her and sell her specifically into sex work is paranoid bullshit.

Quote

“I had been browsing for only 10 to 15 minutes when I noticed a young gentleman. He was tall, skinny, dressed in a dirty grey two-piece sweatsuit, and brown work boots,” Peeky-Lou wrote. “He looked over at me, I smiled and said hello but his facial expression was blank.”

She said she wasn’t alarmed by him, but was struck by the fact that he didn’t have a cart or a basket — he was just wandering through the aisles.

Moments later, she noticed a second young man in a similar outfit. He didn’t have a cart or a basket, either.

Around 15 minutes after that, she noticed a third man in the exact same situation.

“I had a bad feeling about these three men, and it became clear that something was a bit off,” she wrote.

This sounds like a pretty big paranoid leap. So a guy in a dirty sweatsuit and work boots looked at her with a blank expression. DId she consider the fact that maybe he's just a lousy dresser and spaced out? And so what if he had no cart or basket? There's a such thing as browsing. I almost never use a cart when I shop because I don't buy that much at once and some local stores no longer offer hand baskets because of the pandemic. I also am in a constant state of daydreaming and might appear to be staring at someone when in reality, I'm probably thinking about stupid shit like how people can compare macaron batter to lava because how would they know what lava in a bowl looks like. But I guess by this idiot's logic, that means I'm looking for a female to snatch up.

Quote

Over the next 20 minutes, Peeky-Lou felt as if she was being followed by the three men.

She began picking random aisles and walking around in an unorganized fashion, and every time, one of the three men would pass by her, making their presence known.

“It felt as if I was being surrounded like a wild animal —hunted, even,” she wrote. “They were no longer trying to be inconspicuous, which was the scariest part of it all, and everything instinctual was screaming at me to get out of there.”

‘I will never forget the darkness in his eyes’

So they weren't actually following her - they just crossed paths a lot. I've done that by accident a few times in grocery stores - crossed paths with the same person five or six times by coincidence. Maybe it's a bunch of college guys doing some grocery shopping together?

I'm not saying something wasn't off about these guys because there could have been, and it was fine for her to have a manager escort her to her car for safety reasons if she felt uneasy. But I'm pretty sure people who sell others into human trafficking aren't shopping for victims at fucking Target. Plus if they were hanging around her car, what is to stop them from figuring out how to find her from the make/model of her car and her plate if they really want to find her?

I just hope Moo doesn't have a sensitive trigger finger because if she whips out whatever "legal self-defense items" she carries with her all the time because of a stupid assumption, she might wind up cuffed on the hood of a police cruiser.

There's more to this with younger people than you think. Younger Millennials and Generation Z(yklon) have been indoctrinated from infancy with the idea of "stranger danger", the idea that every stranger wants to kidnap and molest or kill them. This is one (of many) reasons the youth crowd buries its heads in smartphones and other electronic devices instead of actually talking to people. They seem shy, but it's about the stranger danger. Employers note this trend too.

We all know most kyds are far more in danger from pahrunts and others at home than they are from typical strangers, but the youth don't comprehend that reality.

So this moo probably was scared to death about strangers as a girl and it bleeds over into adulthood. I'll bet she's an absolute pleasure to be around...not.

Ah, but he was also brown, maybe Mexican! She deleted that part after getting called out in the comments. Surely if brown people are hanging out around white people, they mean harm, right? holding finger to head as if a gun

In my region. that scenario is likely to be a bunch of labourers who came in the same vehicle and had an opportunity to do a bit of shopping but can't take too much back with them in the group vehicle.

Also, work BOOTS, not books. Apparently I still don't know how English works. tongue sticking out smiley

I didn't look at the original Reddit post, so I didn't know she mentioned the men's race(s), but ethnicity in a story like this is completely irrelevant because anyone of any color can be a creep and the only time it would be relevant is if she were filing a police report. The fact she brought it up leads me to believe she's a racist and assumes that these men were a threat simply because their skin was a different color from hers. That shit won't win you any sympathy anywhere, Moo.

This sounds like some kind of weird attempt at a humble brag by a 30 year old moo who wants to insure strangers are aware she still "has it." No one is fooled moo! No one!

A moo is the last person on earth on the list of a sex trafficker: they are well aware the husbands would beeline it to the police station and demand results if the moo is MIA for even an hour or two that requires THEM to watch their own children. Sex traffickers target young runaways once they confirm they don't have a support system.
Re: Moos thinking sex traffikers are after them

I think sex trafficking is more common than people know*, and sometimes it is done on older people. If this had happened to me and it was genuine, I would be pestering the police to look at the videos and track down these guys, to make sure it didn't happen to someone else. Target likely has videos in the store and in the parking lot.

*Seeing this made me think of the Sherri Pappini case in Northern California in 2016.

I (along with the rest of the world apparently) wondered whether that was real or not. I was leaning toward "real" because the DNA of two females and one man was found on her, and it did not match her husband or anyone she knew. And other women in her area have had similar encounters. Just this year, however, people have come forward with alternate theories: 1. a man says he was with her the whole time and it was a cover story for an affair; 2. people have come forward and said she's a heavy drug user and this was retribution from her dealer. Either story sounds plausible.

Well who did the indoctrinating? A good amount of people from your generation had to believe in stranger danger as well if we were learning it as children. Stranger danger is also a major theme in fairy tales that are centuries old.

God, yes, boomers did love their "stranger danger" paranoia! It was all over the place when I was growing up....

Teaching kids not to take candy from a stranger or get in some stranger's car was the norm, and that's common sense because kids can be too trusting. Teaching kids to be scared of everybody is different, and it's not healthy. Some kids won't approach uniformed first responders for help now, for example. A lot of the stranger danger hysteria seems to be from schools, not parents.

As an adult being scared of strangers is going to make you nonfunctional. Dealing with strangers is part of most jobs.

Recently read an account from one guy who as a favor took his niece (he had seen her only a few times before) with other, older family members to an airport an hour away so she could catch a flight. During the car ride she had her head buried in a smartphone and wouldn't talk to him when he tried to make conversation. Something's not right when young adults behave that way, and lots of stories like that are out there. The other family members claimed the niece was just "shy", but the guy said he saw this from other younger relatives too.

Sex trafficking of moos is highly unlikely based on what I have read. Moos grossly overvalue themselves in the marketplace and expect a bidding war over them. Trash isn't always treasure and something is only worth what someone is paying.

Ugh, fucking boomers (no offense to any we might have here) and their fucking stranger danger. I was raised by a boomer and taught that there were horrible people laying in wait around every corner just waiting to kidnap me and rape me. Yeah, because I'm sure someone really wants to abduct a fat ugly spoiled kid. Plus, I wasn't taught that some strangers are okay to talk to, such as store employees and police officers - everyone was out to get me. eye rolling smiley

Oddly enough, school never taught me this shit because they were too busy telling us all that drugs, smoking and premarital sex were terrible and we'd go right to hell if we ever did it (I went to Catholic school for 10 years).

Making kids afraid of everyone isn't going to do them any favors, so unless these breeders are intending to have their kids live at home with them and be unemployed hermits their entire lives, they have to knock this shit off. Not everyone is going to harm/kill you. I think it's better to teach kids how to recognize and avoid/escape toxic people because they're FAR more likely to fall victim to narcissists and psychos, but that would likely cause self-interest issues because a lot of parents are toxic/narcissistic themselves and they'd be teaching their kids how to not take their shit.

Cambion, that’s one thing I have to laugh about whenever boomers complain about all the ways in which millennials turned out badly. Well boomer, who do you think raised us?

Boomers complained because the Greatest Generation and the Silent Generation complained about them. Then they turn around and do the same about millennials.

Millennials complain about the zoomers and generation alpha.

When will they ever learn?
