By now we've all seen the NY Times article about the Berlin photographer creating a project about childfree women and their reasons for not having sproggen. I went to the photographer's webpage for the project
here and one of their childfree subjects told an interesting story. She was talented, skilled and accomplished yet couldn't find a job until she found a way to bring up her childfree status. Lo and behold, she found work quickly after that.
It tells us that companies don't want to hire women in their breeding years, because generous maternity benefits that companies are legally required to fund will hurt women collectively, unless they speak up.
