Parents and deadly irresponsibility

I was looking at a forum for the 19 foot Mariner sailboat. A boat that is built for smaller lakes and sheltered coastal bays.
While looking I found a guy who posted about taking his kid or two kids from a harbor in California to Catalina Island, a 22 mile open ocean trip with "two years experience" on this little boat. The guy was asking for advice and only a couple of posters politely asked him why he is doing this in such a boat and mentioned how bad things could get.

If the weather turns against this guy it is realisitic they will be swamped and not recover. The area has shipping lanes and huge boats making the trip. Taking a trip in the open ocean in a small boat built for sheltered waters is so irresponsible there is no words for it and all so the kids can "have memories" My only thought is there is no memories if you are dead.

Most people seemed to think it was a good idea if he is "totally prepared" but no matter the prep a boat that is not made for the trip is not the boat to be taking, if he can't afford a big boat then he has to stick to what his boat can do. It is like these parents who let their kids out on a lake in an inflatable and freak when the wind takes it when the instructions say for pool use only and only under supervision. This whole post was just shocking

This guy needs to join the Navy if he wants a boat so bad. Maybe he should tell his kids to join the Navy if they want an "adventure".

CERTIFIED HOSEHEAD!!!

people (especially women) do not give ONE DAMN about what they inflict on children and I defy anyone to prove me wrong

Dysfunctional relationships almost always have a child. The more dysfunctional, the more children.

The selfish wants of adults outweigh the needs of the child.

Some mistakes cannot be fixed, but some mistakes can be 'fixed'.

People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one. Leo J. Burke

Adoption agencies have strict criteria (usually). Breeders, whose combined IQ's would barely hit triple digits, have none.
