I was reading about the woman who disowned her son, the one that attacked Salmon Rushdie. She said that she is finished with him and that therefore there is "no future" I find that parents live for the future and the only way their can be a future is through their kids. Commenters were saying that at least she had another kid.
They don't seem to consider the present moment and any joys there like Buddhists do as living happens in the present moment, but they have kids and go on about how "the future" will be better. Obviously they don't seem to notice climate, ecological, and societal collapse just as long as they reproduce the world has a "future"
