Another bad reason to parent

Be glad you're not a parent; school bus shortage and bus route cancellations led one parent to lose their job:

I'm thankful almost everyday.

I've noticed on Reddit, different subs that dont even have anything to do w/ kids and CF, younger adults also grateful it is not them, and basically less and less ppl telling them that IIDWIYO, there's a few but not many. We will see if this trend sticks and ppl are actually getting respectful of the choice. Glad that ppl also getting to know themselves and know they just dont have it in them to do 25 yrs of grunt work and busy work after their jobs during the day. Of course there's ppl in an uproar about society crumbling, but I've tried to tell them we will have to adjust and find a new way to support the elderly at the end of their lives w/ less ppl on the earth. We should figure it out somehow.

I saw something about bus routes being disrupted because tons of drivers were calling in sick. I don't know if it's legitimate illness like COVID going around again, or they're all just sick of the districts' shit and took "sick time" in protest. I think something like 140 bus drivers called in sick in Jefferson County in Kentucky a few days ago.

Another article covering this story:
https://komonews.com/news/local/bethel-school-bus-driver-shortage-picket-spanaway-district-office-informational-staff-shortstaffed-drive-mom-lost-job-decision-solution-dark-dangerous-walk-superintendent-nationwide-commercial-drivers-license-cdl

Quote

The picket in Spanaway was planned more than a week ago. A day earlier, the superintendent sent a letter to parents thanking drivers for their work, but the letter failed to provide an immediate solution.

Why did the superintendent send a letter to parents thanking the drivers and not to the drivers? And how does thanking them for their work fix the situation? It's like retail managers who think telling employees "we appreciate you!" is an acceptable replacement for a living wage.

Quote

Several drivers said they believe the district is holding seniority over their heads, knowing they won’t leave for another district because of it.

I thnik it's time to call the district's bluff, then.

Seems in this case, it's about money, which of course no employer wants to pay more of, so the strike and the shortages will continue.

It is a skilled job. Having a CDL can open lots of doors. I've seen signs offering starting at $25-$30 an hour for bus drivers.

If the district is that desperate maybe they should work with the bus drivers to retain them instead of holding seniority over their heads? I bet they did that in the first place to keep them from switching districts.

I'd much rather haul baby chicks than brats around. I could sneak in some pets on the tiny chicks too.

They've been saying for years that society is crumbling. They fail to see that in so many respects we have it better now than ever before.

I'm hoping being childfree is normalized and considered a valid choice. I can see this happening because of social media, a person could be childfree and live in the smallest breederific town and connect with others who are also childfree who may live hundreds or thousands of miles away. It takes lots of strength and resolve to be the sole person who takes a stance on something that is the opposite of what most people are doing. It is much easier knowing you have like-minded comrades, even if you have to sneak into shadows to communicate with them or risk being kicked off the island. This is one aspect of social media that warms my heart.

Society is only crumbling because there's an overpopulation of idiots. Humans are like cockroaches and we destroy everything we touch. Maybe this shit needs to stop or at least slow down for awhile.

There will be no slowing of the stupid breeding. I am just thankful I will be dead relatively soon.
