Moo on Reddit whines about how her sprogs areiteral angels at school but treat her like dirt. I get the feeling the moo is a gentle discipline type. I bet the reason her brats don't act up at school is that acting up there has consequences (ranging from detention to suspension to expulsion).

My kids are angels for everyone else, ANGELS. Constant talk of how great they are, model students, straight A’s. Literally everyone loves them.

My kids are demons for me. This morning my oldest was screaming yelling. I’m constantly dealing with temper tantrums. Everything I say is apparently up for negotiation. Everyone gets so much more respect than me, but if you ask my kids they love me the most.??.. My oldest even said after a day where the guidance counselor spoke with the class “I would never need to see her, you’re like a guidance counselor for me”.

When I complain about this to close friends I am told “you are their safe person.”

COOL. So because I’m the “ safe one” everyone gets the best versions of my kids and I get the worse. It’s inching closer to time for me to pick them up from school and I’m dreading it. I just want to cry. I am miserable, but I’m glad they feel so safe and comfortable with me I guess?? This fucking sucks. I genuinely understand moms who run away at this point

I've heard that shit before, re: "durr hurr your kids act like assholes with you because you are their safe person." So what I'm getting out of that statement is the key to brats who behave themselves is to make sure their parents are not their "safe people." Because being "safe" means they feel comfortable acting their very worst around that particular person.

And yes, this idiot probably uses minimal/ineffective discipline or lets her kids walk all over her in an effort to try and be their friend. Which is why her kids are horrid monsters with her and are well-behaved around other people who won't take their shit and/or who will punish them for bad behavior.

I don't think Moo understands the difference between being safe and being disrespected. Here's the solution: whoop their asses when they misbehave so they no longer see Moo as being "safe." They can go find another fucking safe person.
