I'm sleep-deprived because I didn't sleep at all last night but I do feel a sense of relief that my reproductive system can not and will not be used against me. And thankfully Virginia went blue and we get rid of our Temu Fred Rogers governor next year and VA law prevents him from running as an incumbent. Hopefully, we can do what we did the last time and turn the state government blue so Virginians are cushioned from the fuckery to come.

I checked out TwoX and they are making nasty statements about women in their 50's and 60's. I understand being angry but they can suck a fuck with the generalization. Approx. 50% of the population is upset with the results and that includes people of all ages and backgrounds.

Until I was over 30 I was literally the only childfree woman I knew. And there are plenty of women in their 50's and 60's that didn't vote Rethuglican and fully support abortion and health rights for women of all ages. And there is plenty of shit us "old" women (as they call us) had to go through that these younger women won't ever have to face. And I guarantee it was even worse for childfree women in their 70's and 80's because it was less socially accepted.

And some men (besides childfree men) also support women's rights and are upset about the election results.

Something like 70% of males without college degrees voted for him. Also males under 30. That should tell you a lot. College educated women voted for Kamala, but a lot of white older women voted for Trump.

According to the NYT, 51 million Democrats didn't vote.

I'm really tired of fighting. If women cannot show up for themselves, what else can you do.

This is one of my biggest fears right now. I'm also very concerned about Ukraine. This is going to have a domino effect that catapults the world into the next war.

I've been watching some of my favorite Youtubers so that I don't completely lose my empathy for the people in the States. Reading comments from people who are terrified about women's reproductive health and rights, having their medical care and social security taken, being deported, allowing the police to do whatever they want, this is the most disgusting thing I've witnessed in my lifetime.

People planning to flee, people who have lost faith in humanity, it's been a sad day for democracy. Not just in the US, but all democratic countries. What makes me very fearful is that Canada has a bad habit of following the US in almost everything. I'm seriously hoping that we have our heads screwed on a little bit better than that.

My heart goes out to everyone who is feeling shocked and ashamed for your country right now. If you voted for Kamala, you should be proud of yourselves. You did the right thing. Amid all the chaos, I'm hoping something will happen to bring sense back down there but I'm feeling a little less optimistic about it.

I mean if someone hates the guy enough, they will assassinate him. Someone in Pennsyltucky already made an attempt, and there was a second attempt that was stopped before anything happened. We've got a lot of overconfident opinionated psychos in the US, and people have proven they are not shy about storming major government facilities either.

I assume so many people voted for Trump because he's a felon and a rapist and all the felons and rapists we have in the US wanted a president they could relate to. I would love to know how the fuck someone who got impeached still managed to be allowed to run, let alone win. Like shouldn't impeachment mean you can't run?

I don't know if birth control and abortion is going to actually be restricted because I've seen conflicting information on it. But if it is, I'm sure there will be much bawwing about the declining birth rate and women who refuse to put out, resulting in poor single lonely men. Because if birth control and sterilization are restricted, women will just plain become celibate. Welp, if it comes to that, men can look in the mirror if they want to see whose fault that is. I bet r/deadbedrooms will be FLOODED with men whining about how their wives won't fuck them because they don't want to risk a pregnancy.

Why are Americans so stupid? First we ban abortion, and then we might ban ways to prevent abortion. It's like they want to see record numbers of babies birthed in toilets and thrown in dumpsters. The next four years will be a roller coaster, for sure.

I remember seeing that bullet point in Project 2025. The DoE is responsible for getting people federal student loans so they can go to college. No more Department of Education would mean that college loans would be 100 percent private and pretty much every private student lender is crooked and greedy. Whereas federal loans have more affordable repayment options. Employers all want to see a college degree on resumes, even if it's for working the grill at Burger King, so that means people will have to go six figures in debt without the financial cushion of things like income-based repayment plans to make minimum wage.

We could ust make college free like Europe, but that would never happen because America is not the land of opportunity. It's three third-world countries in a trench coat.

I checked the list of CF-friendly doctors on r/Childfree and one of them is at the hospital in my town. I'm very strongly considering talking to the guy about sterilization, but the earliest opening is in like March of next year and it might be too late by then. At the very least, I live right on the PA-NY border and New York also just passed laws protecting abortion access. So if there is fuckery in Pennsyltucky, I can go to New York. That's where the nearest Planned Parenthood is to me anyway. I really don't want an IUD because I think the cons outweigh the pros, but I might have to consider it because by the time I would need it replaced, I might be in menopause or close to it. I hate that I am having my hand forced because I would be perfectly content being on the pill indefinitely, but I don't know what they mean when they say they want to "restrict" birth control.

Sad day for me and my elderly mom too. I thought the cities in PA had more people but it looks like the country bumpkins got their way and turned PA red.

I can understand why men would vote for Trump but we can't get pregnant or have kids. But why would women vote for him? After all they're the ones who get pregnant, have complications, need family planning and have women's issues all their lives.

I learned that the birth control market is worth nearly 20 BILLION dollars in 2024, and that number will likely go up if abortion is successfully banned nationwide.

Big pharma surely has some pull in matters like this and I have a feeling they will absolutely not take it sitting down if the Cheeto man decides to try to ban contraceptives. Abortion is one thing because pharmaceutical entities do not stand to profit from it. But pills, patches, rings, IUDs and everything else? Them's fightin' words.

I made an appointment to get an IUD for next year, but I chickened out and cancelled. Reading people's experiences about the pain, side effects and the thought of having no periods and having to freak out every month thinking I'm knocked up, I don't think I can do it. Not unless it's an absolute last resort. I know I'm a wuss. I hope my little pill I've been on for like ten years remains legal.
