Just in case Gen La-Z wasn’t struggling enough with “adulting,” more than two-thirds of Zoomers lack basic cooking skills, including tasks as simple as making an omelet.

In fact, Zoomers’ pan prowess is so abysmal that many dining in restaurants and/or eating takeout meals, per a study by dating app FindingTheOne, the Daily Mail reported.

Per the survey, a whopping 42% of those aged 18 to 28 said they could not whip up a basic stir fry, while 27% couldn’t figure out a simple soup.

Yet another product of breeders coddling their spawn. And it's just going to get worse as time goes on. Our streets will be filled with adults that literally cannot function in society. I weep for the future.

Doesn't surprise me. Breeders are too lazy/bizzy to teach their kids basic survival skills and then they just unleash their spawn on the world. Nobody teaches their kids basic cooking, how to do laundry, how to budget, nothing. They infantilize their brats in every aspect of life and then wonder why those same kids are still living with them 40 years later, unable to even boil water. In some cases, they actively prevent their kids from doing such things because I think they want them to be dependent for as long as possible.

Like that might be fine while Mommy and Daddy are alive, but what happens when they're gone and their completely brain-dead adult kid has to survive on their own? Nobody's going to be there to cook their food, wash their clothes and buy everything for them and no one will feel sorry for them either. And definitely nobody will take them in and dote on them like babies.

Parenting means preparing your child for adult life, and not showing them the most basic things is outright neglect. My own maternal unit was like this - didn't show me jack shit as far as cooking, cleaning, laundry, hygiene, nothing. If I tried to learn on my own and she caught me, she would tell me I was too stupid to do it on my own and would refuse to let me do whatever it was.

Thankfully I was one of the lucky few who managed to figure out how to do things once I went to college. It took trial and error, but I learned how to run a dishwasher, wash clothes, sort of cook, I didn't even know tampons or shaving cream existed until I was like 20! I thought pads and the diaper rash that accompanied them was all I could use for periods. I thought I had to shave my legs with water and soap, or dry. But not everyone is that lucky. Lots of people my age and older can't do anything for themselves because their parents wanted perpetual babies.

I, too, was one of the late developers of bog-standard skill sets, but not due to neglect. I had mild to moderate autism that left me far behind in my milestones. Due to autism, I didn't even learn to fully speak until I was 9. I had to be taught the skills and behaviors children learn by instinct. These took front and center on my mother's list of priorities, and the other skills had to be fit around these critical functions. Mom was still teaching me well into my 30s the basic skills of boiling an egg, washing then folding laundry, and cooking in a crock pot.

I could do most everything for myself by the time I was 9-10 years old. It is amazing how many men I've dated (Gen X) who can't keep their place clean and straight. And all of them have told me their parents had standards and that they were expected to keep their rooms, etc. clean. I think a bunch of it is just laziness on the part of adults. If they're single they can tend to become slobs unless they keep themselves in check.

My nephew could cook basic things and worked at a grill during a summer break and he learned how to cook and spice food while there. He worked at a coffee shop on other breaks where he mostly made sandwiches. So, he knows how to cook. My niece has always loved cooking. They're both Gen Z.

I was making egg sandwiches for myself as a latchkey kid probably in 3rd Grade. It was one of my go-to's when I was alone. My mom didnt want me using the stove but I did anyway. Made me super careful. I 'technically' wasn't alone, as the adult landlords lived right below me if I truly had an emergency. I too was pretty darn independent by 11-12 y.o. My mom made me do so many chores, I just knew how to do everything.

While my MIL was a stay at home mom, cooked all the time, came from a restaurant background, and she never taught my SIL that the 'drawer' on the stove was actually a broiler. She literally didnt know what that was even when she was around 25 y.o. My MIL prides herself on motherhood but taught her kids basically nothing, didnt get them ready for adulthood, so I would love to tell her her life's work is a failure.

Modern parents are ten times worse bcz they purposely give kids no chores and allow kids eyes be glued to devices. This also tells me they grew up w/o any curiosity of life while growing up. Never wanted to try or observe. Kids that dont know how to boil water for an egg or pasta is crazy. The fact that a young adult now cant do this is ridic, that means they are overwhelmed with a youtube vid my guess, bcz why couldnt they do it w/ all the choices out there to teach them?

Modern parunts allow all of this and then bitch about how their brats do nothing. Look in the mirror parunts, you're the problem. Quit letting your brats be lazy slobs. I've witnessed this firsthand from lots of parunts until I stopped hanging around them.

Yeah, I heard too many times, "School is their job', so they give them no chores. Really? How did we all do it way back when? And, YOUR job is to get them ready for adulthood. Letting them just do homework/school, is not teaching them real life and stuff that everyone needs to know. So many young ppl think they are gonna make it rich and get a maid. LOL Wonder how that will work out.
