All her friends have told her to run for the hills: young debt free woman who is dating a man with two brats, brat support, two mortgages and student loan debt. She wonders if she should marry the duh or not.

The moneyist seems to be pushing her towards staying with him, because love. What could possibly go wrong? And why do so many men encourage this kind of relationship? Because they are gold diggers! They want a woman who has no obligations and a good job so she can be exploited:

The real gold diggers are the men who want to exploit women's labor: cook and clean for him, take care of his kids when he has them on weekends, etc.
Freaking amen to this!

I’m in my 40s and it’s sad how often I see women my age divorce their useless husbands and then end up coparenting with a much younger step-mom their exes duped into raising his kids for him.
These men will say anything to their new girlfriends to convince them to give up their youth, goals, time, and money, just so these men don’t have to put the work into raising their own kids or keep a livable home.
This sounds exactly like what this duh wants and while it may not be accurate for all men with kids it is way more likely to fall into his favor. Way too many men think of raising brats as a woman's obligation and want brats like a kid wants a puppy.

The Reddit thread on the new marriage of unequals is excellent on its own. I've had men constantly make the weird assumption about me because I always look neat, am dressed nicely, wear makeup, etc. that I'm a gold digger and some man is funding my lifestyle. I've been on my own since I was in my early 20's. The comments have greatly decreased since I moved out of the Bible belt, where I heard them despite the fact that I worked two jobs to barely make ends meet.
Most women make their own living today. The ones that don't are just as likely to have an inheritance as they are to have a man paying for their lifestyle. And for the women who have a man paying for their lifestyle? Some aren't able to work, period. Most are raising kids and homemaking and would probably deserve much more than they're getting from their husbands if they were to be paid for their efforts and time.
