Poor little kitties

Poor little kitties
January 05, 2026
I was volunteering at the shelter this morning and there were two black medium length hair, fluffy black kittens and of course I fantasied about running away with them. While I was in the socialization room with them a woman came to the door twice to look at them. She was someone I saw on the way in with a year old brat that was screeching to high heaven. Sure enough as I was leaving she was coming down the hall again saying to the worker "Yes I want the two black ones that I met last Friday" As I was leaving I thought "Ain't that the way, the kitties get a home, but it is with a tail pulling screecher and maybe a couple more at home. Cats HATE loud noise and will strke a kid that will attack them. I felt sorry for them on the way out, but that is the way it is. I wonder if they will be back in a couple of months as one of them swatted Bratty Pants

That is awful! Hopefully the poor cats won't be hurt by the demon brat!
Did the shelter employee see/hear the screecher himself, and if no, could you tip them off?

Yes, they saw the brat at the reception desk, it is not considered a reason to turn anyone down, even though it could end in disaster. They do interview people there, but usually still hand the cat over to make more space.
A behaviorist there said that she sees dogs adopted out to situations that are not going to work out, but they forced to accept the situation and let the person give it a try.
I hope moo is decent enough to return the cat if it goes after bratley. A cat that goes to the wrong home and is brought back also ends up with a strike against them as many people blame the cat for not "adjusting"
