Tbf, it's not just the women who get weird about "gender disappointment." There are apparently plenty of men who desperately need their offspring to have a penis in order to be worthy of their affection.
I think I've mentioned here before knowing a family that had a bunch of daughters, but they kept having kids because manly man duh wanted a son...and honestly, their families WERE the kind who would judge a guy for not being able to produce a son.
So they kept "trying" until eventually they were told, with pregnancy five or six, that yes! This one is a boy! And then she was born, and nope, she wasn't. Somebody misread the sonogram. Oops.
They did finally stop having kids after that, but damn...imagine being those girls, knowing that at least five of them were unwanted, and that if their parents had a boy first, they may not have had ANY more children. Those poor kids were so fucked up, and it's not a mystery why.
As for the gender disappointment thing in general, if you're that worked up over getting the "right" gender, you should either be willing to abort until you get what you want, or adopt. If you're determined to give birth no matter what, then you need to be okay with rolling the dice. If you aren't, you shouldn't be a parent. 'Cause it's all about the Unconditional Love(tm), right? If you aren't capable of loving your child no matter their gender (or sexual orientation or physical condition or mental condition), then don't freaking have one. There are enough unloved, unwanted kids in the world without adding more.

Not sure about how it is today, but I remember learning in my cultural psych class that women in India and China would often find out the gender of their fetuses as soon as possible and abort if they weren't male. I would much rather see that happen than a child be born and automatically hated because it came out with the "wrong" genitals. The woman could just say she miscarried and needed a D&E if she's worried about judgment. They could say it "developed incorrectly."
I can see being like, "Oh I'd like a girl, but I'll be just as happy with a boy!" But no, some parents get downright upset when they find out it's not the desired gender. And then it becomes a matter of they just put up with the kid once it's born and then start trying again in 2-3 years for the "correct" gender.
Do they get how odds work? It's astounding how many breeders think, "Well it's 50/50, so that means I'll definitely get a boy!"
I wish every single asshat breeder who experienced gender disappointment who went on to have the "correct" gendered child wound up with a trans kid. Fuck them for putting so much unnecessary value on gender - I hope their little Jenna realizes she came out wrong and becomes James!
If you need a kid to come out with a particular hair color, gender or anything else, fucking adopt! It's like Build-A-Bear, you can pick the gender, the skin color, the hair color, the health, you can meet the kid beforehand. But oh, of course people won't do that because they can only love a biological child and they don't want to raise someone else's mistake.
I'm surprised how many women are pouting over the gender reveals in the video. Usually it's the man who is all butthurt that his wife/girlfriend is not providing him with a male heir. I mean if it's a personality thing of wanting to do boy stuff with boys and girl stuff with girls, you can still get those things with the "wrong" gender. Boys can like tea parties, ponies and wearing tiaras. Girls can like dinosaurs, cars and football. If it's just about gender and nothing else, why are they so obsessed over their child's crotch? Don't breed if you're gonna throw a tantrum like a little bitch not getting the doll you wanted on Christmas morning.
Also, why the fuck would the parents share their gender reveal disappointment videos publicly? Do they realize how disgusting it makes them look to be anything other than happy about their wanted, expected child?
Off topic, but I want the lipgloss the lady is wearing in the beginning of the video.
