I guess there is a such thing as being too poor to clean?
This region is a small rural village with no jobs and the citizens who live there know it. It has been this way since before LBJ was president FFS - actually it has ALWAYS been that way. There has NEVER been jobs there. And then the people who live there make stupid mistakes like dropping out of school early and getting knocked up. Then, the food banks just bring in food and people just become dependent on it - once they hear the free kitchen is open, they come in droves and the food banks don't bother to weed out the ones who don't need it. These people aren't contributing anything to the society they live in, they aren't inventing anything, becoming entreprenurial or enterprising, trying to improve their economy, etc. They just sit there with their hands out, expecting "The Promised Land" to give and give and give and take care of them. They work a few hours a day, maybe, then watch TV with the rest of their time if they are lucky enough to be stealing power from the neighbor.
Some of these people are working couples who still can't "make ends meet." What are they doing with their money?? The couple who lives in the trailer makes near $1400 a month. They don't pay for electricity or rent, obviously, and she travels a whopping 20 miles a day. Where is all their money going??? Heroin?
Obviously illiteracy is a problem here; I doubt many of these bumpkins can write up a decent resume. But they can afford cigarettes! And plenty of them are fat - and don't need extra food. 60% of families in poverty are...SINGLE MOOS. Why are these bitches breeding???
Ohio is largely rural. There used to be mining and manufacturing there, but 150 years ago, the bumpkin farmers bred like cockroaches, and these poor people are just their great great great grand offspring. Too dumb to farm. Natural selection has separated out the lazy and dumb from the intelligent ones so now you're seeing the population stratify. Not surprising.
I wonder if the economic policies of Ohio are preventing businesses from wanting to go there. You know, tax the shit out of the rich, tax the shit out of businesses, so none of them want to go there and the ones that are there don't want to stay.
Poverty is nothing new, and the reasons for it are also nothing new. The necessity of this piece is not apparent.
