Welcome five_toes:1welcome
I'm home due to health issues too, and also have many pets of all varieties.friendly hug
You'll find many people here who run the gambit from being intolerant of children to all out hating the little bastards...guess which one I am?:smoke
Hello everyone! I'm 24 years old and live in FL. I've been lurking here for a little bit. I had joined another forum, but I decided to switch and come here because you guys are way more honest and up front about the childfree lifestyle and I feel this is more of a fit for me.

Until recently, I did not know there was a group of like-minded people that proudly label themselves as "childfree." But wow, am I so glad that I found out! I’ve always been uncomfortable around children because I don’t know how to interact with them. Even when I was a child myself, I was painfully awkward around my peers. As I grew older, I couldn’t understand why anybody would want a child; to summarize a multitude of reasons, it seemed like a thankless job that drained on the finances and offered way more lows than highs. Besides that, I can't imagine going three or four months off my motorcycle due to being huge and pregnant... motorcycling is a huge part of my life and I am not about to give that up for some snot-nosed little brat!

Therefore, I am so happy to find a group of similarly minded people to share thoughts with. Hopefully, within the next month or so, I will be able to have the Essure procedure done too. I found a wonderful ObGyn in my area that told me, of course to consider the IUD before the Essure “just in case I change my mind” while I’m waiting for the results of the pap smear to come back; but in the end he told me that he would do whatever I want to do. This lady's not changing her mind, that's for sure :-)

Good luck with your sterilization, toxiclove!
Hi, I'm Jolene, and I dislike children.
Hi five toes, toxiclove and pittsonjoma!!!
I call myself notkidhater, but I'll be honest. Right now, I really, really do!!! I had never seen the kind of shitty behavior and/or this kind of entitlement attitude until I came to live on an army base.
Anway, welcome aboard!!! this is the ONLY place where I can come out and say I hate kids, army housing, and in a nutshell, EVERYTHING army. Someone should change army brat to hellspawn.
Hey Joline. You from up Pittston? If so, there's a couple of Wyo Valley'ers here! And we also really dislike children.
Hi fellow peeps !
I am a 23 year old college student. And I have never ever in my entire life wanted kids.
I needed to rant and found this board, it is a relief to see like minded people, that I am not a weirdo. Last night I was hanging out with my boyfriend (nothing serious) and talking about kids. I said I did not think it was worth it for *me* to have kids and he proceeded to say - " I feel sorry for you that you feel that way". I am not a victim and I don't need pity/sympathy. I am not going to say - "Oh I am sorry, you have kids" then who are you to say that you feel "sorry" for my life choice.
You would think people understand, but no the society rolls on its own presumptuous wheels.
:1welcome

If YOU are the "exception" to what I am saying, then why does my commentary bother you so much?
I don't hate your kids, I HATE YOU!
I'm still learning to put my thoughts into words, so please be patient with me. My name is Nikki, I'm 32 married to a soldier and live in Louisiana. We have 4 dogs, 4 cats and a betta fish. I love reading this site because I finally don't feel weird about not wanting kids of my own. My hobbies are animals, reading, writing, (want to publish a romance novel someday) and I've just signed up at my local gym and taken up running. I don't hate kyds, just can't handle the nasty behavior I have to deal with every day. Anyway, glad to be here!!!
Pittston? As in Pittston, PA? As in "right down the highway from scranton"? My husband and I currently live in Shickshinny and grew up in scranton.

very cool seeing people from my neck of the woods.
Hi all, quit lurking to join. Love the humor and the snark. I am soooooooo tired of having to pander to breeder egos IRL so it's very refreshing to have a safe space to vent about how much I hate breeders and their fucking entitlement mentality.
I'm snipped too but I did it back in 2005 so no photos. My tubal was the best use of the awesome health coverage I had at my last corporate job. With all the attacks on reproductive choice by the fundie forced birthers (defunding Planned Parenthood? WTF??) I have never been gladder that I got that "problem" taken care of!

I know some Shickshinny peeps, slgrier! Small world, eh? And Shickshinny is about as small as it gets. LOL. I have a saying I picked up in high school from a teacher, for whenever one of our cats decides to take the longest route possible to get to wherever they end up (usually on top of one of us), I'll say, "Geez, it's like you're going through Shickshinny to get to Public Square".

@Thom_c: You did your undergrad at Da U? Holy shit, you might actually KNOW my doctor. She got her BA there in or around 1993, afterwards she went for her D.O. down in Philly. I won't say her first name, but it's the current name of the queen of england, and her last name is Gernhardt. Wouldn't it be weird if you knew her, too?

She's a bit behind me. I was class of 84 in a major that usually led to career involving "ya's want frys wit dat?"

I'm new. I suppose I aught to say, "Hi."
Hi Everyone,

Longtime lurker, just joined... I used to post on the forum years ago but then it disappeared (guess the trolls attacked?)

I was essured in 2005, when I was 26 years old. I've never regretted it, although I have had to endure some pretty condescending comments from other ob/gyns and doctors. One female gyno even said, "I never would have sterilized someone so young!" I have yet to find a cool ob/gyn where I live now.

Now I'm in the age zone where everyone around me is getting preggo, and it's a bummer. I just know that after people have kids, they don't resurface 'til years later—haggard, hollow-eyed, flabby—and are shadows of the formerly interesting and fun person I had befriended.

I always knew I didn't want children, and I'm happy to see more people embracing this lifestyle. As a committed environmentalist, I'm very firm in my belief that there's too many people on planet Earth, and our overpopulation magnifies every other environmental problem.

My philosophy is this: Only people who truly, deeply want children should have them. And if it's really about the LOVE, then why not adopt? There's a great many needy children, so why do breeders feel the need to sprog? (Because they selfishly think their DNA is so special, that's why!) I would think that evolved, compassionate human beings would be able to love any human unconditionally, not just their own flesh-and-blood. But, I guess that's why there's so much strife and suffering in the world—the selfish creation of endless desire...

Anyway, glad to meet you all!

Thom, you old fart, you! Sorry. I didn't realize we had such an age gap. I totally pegged you for 40 at the oldest. You know what the best part of having my doctor as my doctor? We used to do jello shots back in college. Srsly, if you're gonna get a pap smear and other "stuff" done, it might as well be with the gal you got drunk with back in the day. (Don't worry. She's an awesome doc and didn't hesitate for a second to send me to a breast specialist earlier this year when a mammogram showed a small shadow of what turned out to be nothing.)

I was browsing your blog and just wanted to mention that you might also enjoy Selfish Heathens, if you don't know of it already.
Duh! Found the right place for intros at last!

Can I come in and play?

Hey, not sure if this is the right place for intros....I'm on another CF board, but lately there hasn't been much activity there. I'm lonely, I'm bored, I'm CF, and I'm here.

I know the board of which you speak. It's getting tiresome over there.

Just so you know, there are no issues with resurrecting older threads. We're cool like that.
hello. im a fellow non breeder, though id join up, see what this is all about, and what peoples reasons are for not breeding. im sure my reasons may well piss some people off, certainly does in the world of breeders.
