EDIT 1/26/11: This thread is dedicated to Kimberly Coon Bachewich from South Portland, Maine, wife to Robert and mother to Jacob, Quinn, and Rory. Kimberly falsely presented herself as a ChildFREE person on our site, using the alias "kbc" and registering the email kcoon@maine.rr.com when she joined. A search of her email address on Google revealed her true identity as a mother of three, and NOT a childless, runaway daughter from a tyrannical Fundamentalist family of 18 as she had previously stated on this board.

A couple of years ago she was asked her email on this diaper swap site where coincidentally she has some 3800 posts. The one that she gives matches the one that she signed up with on Bratfree. I am trying to figure out who is taking care of her three children what with all of her online personalities and lies to keep straight. It must be exhaustive living like that. Lurker, I admit I bought into it because I know a lot of fundies and it didn't seem like so much of a stretch that one would break out of there and rebel. I've heard of it before.

Obviously I was wrong and my troll-dar appears to be malfunctioning.

I was suspicious at her knowing all the CF "lingo" immediately, and using it like, "YEAH, MAN! I'M ONE OF YOU!" but I kept it to myself. Only when I started to hear others' misgivings did I plug in her email address, just out of curiosity.

Grinch, from the diaper board, it seems like she grew up in a Fundie house - there's mention of the 40/80 days of no sex after a boy/girl birth, among other things - but how much is truth and how much is fiction is unknown. And largely irrelevant here.

It wasn't the former fundy angle that set off any bells with me; had anything stuck out to me it would have been the claims that all of her abused kids found homes and that there were plenty of adoptive families in her area for children that she removed from problem households. I shrugged that off and moved on; what a fucking cunt.

I am sorry that no one believed you. There were many other people suspicious of her though, but some were giving her the benefit of the doubt. I honestly thought that if she were telling the truth about her upbringing that it could have emotionally stunted her, which would explain her apparent immaturity and some of the naive' types of statements that didn't seem to jive with her occupation and stated age. Since you are a social worker then I am sure that some of her statements stood out like a sore thumb to you. Perhaps now that the cat is out of the bag you can enlighten us.

This really makes TCFL look like a quality board with people of character, full of mods who strive to keep the peace and correct negative behavior and attitudes. Completely unlike those Bratfree cretins.

I consider it a lesson to me that my radar should go off if the story is highly unusual. I recently joined another discussion board (not CF related) and got in contact with one of the other members who is a proud troll of another forum (one that I don't like as well and that is moderated to death by power-tripping mod Nazis so they deserve to be trolled). Some of his troll examples were hilarious and had the other board completely going; one topic reached several pages before anyone called bullshit.

So it happens; trolls troll because it's fun and they just see how long they can go before they (inevitably) get caught.

Unfortunately, this impacts people in real distress who come to this board. We are one of the few CF boards (the only one?) where people will get uncompromising advice, no matter who they are (example: Miss Hannigan with her own family issues), but we aren't total misanthropes.

Any suggestions on how to deal with this? Delete her threads and posts? Put up a sticky that warns we have some real bird dogs here who are adept at sniffing out shitty posters?

Note to Mommy trolls...if you're going to invade us, don't use the same email address as you do on the mommy boards. Especially if you come from a place we routinely make fun of *coughSmotheringcough*.

Most trolls are rather thick...they just dive right in and insult and bingo us. Like Anna's friends. Others may do a little research and learn how to talk the talk in order to blend in, but then they say something that outs them. Like getting all starry-eyed over ultrasounds. Some trolls are better actors/BSers than others, such as NWNE from CF-EZ. Man, he had everyone going right up until his dramatic exit in which he informed everyone that he was leaving because he'd be busy with the child his wife was pregnant with and intent on keeping.

But on the other hand, you just can't be suspicious of every single new person. I know folks were doing that over on CFLC and legit members were getting banned left and right. It sucks since all the troll infestations in the past have everyone really on their toes and we may drive off real CF people.
