Re: Is Trump a pro-liar?

Has anybody seen the articles where it states that Trump doesn't want to live full time in the White House?? He wants to spend weekends in his Manhattan penthouse. I don't really think this guy wants the job of POTUS.

I think that he will be the GOP rubber stamp. Pence will do the hard work, and Sir Orange Hair will just rubber stamp what the Christian Taliban wants, and call it his own.

When it comes to SCOTUS, expect a rabid right wing nutter to be nominated. With the House and Senate in GOP control, he'll get in. There are groups out there just waiting for a right-wing judge on the SCOTUS, so they can have a test case to repeal Roe v. Wade. I think it will be repealed. When that happens then maybe young millennial women will realize just how fragile women's rights are. I'm fixed, this doesn't affect me, thank goodness.

One of my thoughts prior to the election is, would he stay at the White House? Also, other presidents and their wives have tried to be relatable to the public in many ways and they're both openly elitist. I've never fallen for the BS that any president or his wife are relatable, always knew they were elitist regardless of any PR attempts to prove otherwise, but many people seem to expect this façade to be perpetuated. Hiding a jet, driving a truck or wearing a $100 dress doesn't fool everyone.

umm, he's not radical or racist!!?? Ouch!! Where the hell have you been? All Mexicans are drug dealers and rapists? Does that ring a bell, even? We will allow NO MUSLIMS in this country? Another bell? He feels free to grab any woman's pussy at any time? Hand bell chorus?

I don't know what your personal beliefs are, and I won't attempt to ascribe any to you, specifically. But I do believe that if a person is childfree and believes that overpopulation is a problem, they cannot simultaneously take the position that importing more people into the country would be a net good. That would be a contradiction.

1. He never said all Mexicans are drug dealers and rapists. He said that many people who are crossing the border are in fact, criminals, including drug dealers and rapists. This is a statement of truth. By in large we are not getting a bunch of Ph.D's and brain surgeons from Mexico. We're getting a disproportionate number of criminals.

2. Trump is opposed to letting Syrian refugees in this country. The FBI director has said that there is no way to properly screen the refugees. Most of them can't speak English, and can't even read or write in their own language. Why on earth would we let any of them in? Why on earth isn't Saudi Arabia taking them in, particularly when they've got 100,000 tents ready to go?!? I understand that the circumstance is tragic, for sure, but I can't conceive any circumstance in which these people will be a net-positive for our country. What do they bring to the table, exactly? And if you (or others) are so concerned about them, why don't you do something for them?

For items #1 and #2, it is not the job of the United States taxpayer to take care of the rest of the world. We are under no moral or political obligation to accept any immigrants. We currently have no reason to accept more immigrants from Mexico, the middle east, or anywhere else. We have at several points in our history, turned off the faucet of immigration.

Overpopulation will impact all of us as childfree people. Whether it's through an unnecessarily high birth rate or importing people, overpopulation will ultimately be an extreme drain on our collective energies, capital, and infrastructure. And as we move toward further automation of low-skill jobs, we simply aren't going to be needing more people. In fact, it's goddamn frightening to look into the future now, knowing how many people will be unemployed once self-driving vehicles get going, for example. There really is no logical case that can be made for importing more people who are destined to become unskilled and superfluous.

And say what you want about The Donald and women, but his claim was that these women "let him" do whatever he wanted because he was a star. And guess what? I think it's relatively safe to say that's generally true. Let's be real here... when it comes to the very wealthy, politicians, rock stars, rappers, celebrities, pro athletes... there is no shortage of women for men who fall under any of the above categories.

Now trust me... I think Donald Trump is a flawed man and candidate. No doubt, he's a natalist to some degree. He wants all of us to subsidize child care for parents. He wants increased tax write-off power when it comes to dependent children. That sucks, big time. The alternative was Hillary Clinton, a woman who bragged about "fighting for women and children" her entire life. (Translation: Childfree folks will be subsidizing parents even more, under her watch.)

If yours truly was running, my campaign message would be simple: We've got enough people right now. We don't need to import any more. We don't need to breed any more. Therefore, our borders are shut down. Birth control will be provided by the government to anyone who wants it. If you don't want it, be forewarned.... From this point forward, there will be no earned income tax credits, no childcare deductions, no welfare for sluicing out additional children. If you breed them, you will feed them. And you will pay for 100% of their daycare, and a greater share of their k-12 schooling than in the past.

I am in no way claiming to be a Christian conservative, but I will say that if given an either/or choice, a society of Christians following western, secular law, is far and away better than any Islamic hellhole. And that goes for all people, including anyone who is childfree. And I write this with a truly clean conscience as I have nothing against Muslims. But there's nothing inherently "racist" about standing up and saying "NO!" to importing more people from parts of the world where women are stoned to death if they dress improperly, where gays are tossed off of rooftops simply for being gay, where freedom of speech and expression is suppressed, and where secular law and human rights are overshadowed by militant extremism.

Hence, the American rise of voters who basically declared that they're not apologizing for refusing the let their country slip away, FWIW.

One of the absolute few things I agreed on with this....person...is the Syrian crisis. I'm not talking about taking in refugees, but setting up safe zones. If you have ever evacuated, you can understand the absolute terror these poor people feel. Now compound that by fleeing to another (possibly hostile) country, not being able to speak the language or know the laws, don't know anything about the land and you have yourself and family to take care of. How can you expect to fight for your home when you are thousands of miles away? I really think that we should help create safe zones and help them push back. Add in the familiarity of the country and you take away some of the stress these people are feeling.

As far as women's rights are concerned, it may do the "I don't need feminism" crowd some good to lose some of their rights. It sucks for the rest of us who know what we, our mothers and our grandmothers fought for though.

Agree 100% with what Studio54 said.

As far as Trump not wanting to live in the WH, when Michael Bloomberg was Mayor of NY he Didnt want to live in Gracie Mansion because his own place was much nicer.

I loved Ivanka hawking her line of jewelry after the 60 minutes interview. Classy!

Not to mention a slovenian hooker as first lady. We're going from movie star Nancy Reagan, Blue Blooded Barbara Bush, Yale educated Hilary, refined Laura Bush and Princeton education Michelle to someone whose porn is available on the internet. Again, classy!

Bloomberg wasn't planning to live hundred of miles away.

Apparently, his people assumed all the white house staffers were going to stick around after the election, and it was a rude shock to them to find out otherwise. Yeah, we really elected a competent candidate.

I highly doubt there will be a shortage of applicants to work in The White House. Kellyanne Conway and Mike Pence are hardly ignorant of how Washington works.
Re: American politics 2016 cluster thread

I read somewhere that it cost $7 million for security for Trump's Mar-a-Lago thanksgiving affair.
SEVEN MILLION!!!
Oh, but he's waiving his $400,000 salary.
$400k is PEANUTS!
PEANUTS!

Also, I wonder if he's going to revoke the citizenships of Boy Scouts or imprison them for up to a year when they burn flags. You know, like how one is SUPPOSED TO DO with flags when they get worn out? This whole flag burning being Constitutionally protected freedom of speech was settled back in 1990. I'm assuming The Donald was busy figuring out how not to pay people to pay attention to the news with regard to major Supreme Court decisions. Maybe he was just too busy grabbing pussies to notice their epic decision.

And yes, Trump has very close ties with the white power contingency. I know this as fact. The connections are all there. Just got to put them together. Look at some of the NPI conference attendees and see who they like to "thank" all the time in their twitter feeds (a certain, somewhat reclusive, member of the Trump Transition Team). Oh, wait, I forgot. Their twitters were suspended/banned after proving that they're nazi assholes. (BTW, How is Tila Tequila even able to call herself altright when she's not white, a single mom and bisexual???)

And now I need to turn off all the lights and hide under the bed.

My only hope for this farce of an election is to maybe start dialogue about third party candidacy. There were people on the ballot I had not heard from nor had any clue who they were. For the past 20 years we've only been able to see two parties debate. It's not fair and I don't see how it's legal, even though it is. I'm hoping people will be so fed up that laws will change to allow more than two sides to debate.

Until then, I think I'm going to sit on the porch of my shed, prop my feet up with the cats, drink a nice cold glass of lemonade and watch the world burn down.

Had a lot of third party candidate conversations and it pretty much boils down to the third parties have to focus on the city/county elections then work their way to statewide elections then have a viable third party presidential candidate. Several third party or independent candidates visit my neighborhood looking for votes, most of them are single issue candidates that can only talk about their pet issue. We do have an Independent on the county board and he was elected on opposing a controversial issue, but he could talk about other issues affecting the county.

At this point my number of fucks given is at zero, so I'm pretty much at the point of sitting back and watching.

I voted for Jill, she is heavily for the environment (more so then anyone else I've ever seen) and she wanted to reduce immigration from Mexico, by trying to help Mexico improve it's economy.

I agree with StudioFiftyFour on the overpopulation thing too. Thinking overpopulation is an issue but allowing tons of people into the US (and they quickly adopt our wasteful and environmentaly bad consumer habits too) is kind of counterproductive. When I voted, I was thinking of two main choices environmentaly: slowing population growth by reducing importation of breeders (Trump) or vastly reduce our impact (Jill.) If we don't slow (and allow the population to reduce naturally) or reduce pollution, it won't matter how much sorrowful handwringing some do over the black/brown people now in third world countries, because they'll still be fucked inevitably.

I am working so cannot march but I will not and I have told everyone I know, Do Not Watch the inauguration ceremony. If enough people don't watch, the ratings will be down. I would rather watch QVC about a spin mop, it has to be more entertaining than Donald (I just thought, doesn't Donald's head look like a spin mop?).

Oh, and no Trace Atkins or Piano guys for me (not that I would have bought their music anyway). The only act I feel bad for is the Rockettes, who for 80 years have done a G-rated show and now have to dance for someone R-rated.

Not marching, but I will have an apartment full of people who will be marching. I'll be working at home as usual, but I have permission to watch the Inaugural on tv. I'll watch qvc's coverage of the event.

Oh, no, The Piano Guys, really? I really enjoyed their music.

I'm not marching since I will be at work that day (and I work in a hotel near D.C.). Wish I could, though.

It is worth noting that there are a metric shit-ton of inaugural balls in DC.

From one article:

Trump will have singer Jackie Evancho singing the national anthem at his swearing-in.

Performers at his inaugural balls include the Radio City Rockettes, The Piano Guys, 72-year-old Tony Orlando and 81-year-old Sam Moore, from the soul duo Sam and Dave, Toby Keith and Lee Greenwood.

The Piano Guys are on record saying it is not an endorsement for the incoming POTUS but a chance to play and make folks happy.
