Suleman's fertility doc has license revoked

Dr. Michael Kamrava acknowledged implanting 12 embryos — six times the norm

LOS ANGELES — The state medical board has revoked the license of the fertility doctor who helped "Octomom" Nadya Suleman become the mother of 14 children through repeated in vitro treatments, according to a decision made public Wednesday.

The Medical Board of California said it was necessary to revoke Dr. Michael Kamrava's license to protect the public. The revocation takes effect July 1.

The Beverly Hills fertility doctor has acknowledged implanting 12 embryos into Suleman, then 33, prior to the pregnancy that produced her octuplets. It was six times the norm for a woman her age.

That was a mistake, according to the board, which rejected an earlier recommendation to give Kamrava five years of probation to dole out the harsher punishment.

"While the evidence did not establish (Kamrava) as a maverick or deviant physician, oblivious to standards of care in IVF practice, it certainly demonstrated that he did not exercise sound judgment in the transfer of twelve embryos to (Suleman)," the board said in its 45-page decision.

Kamrava's lawyer Henry Fenton did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment.

Personally, I think that all fertility doctors should have their licenses revoked or at the very least be forced to stop impregnating women when nature has just said, "NO!". It's a bizarre concept to me that with children literally starving to death all across the globe that anyone thinks it's "okay" to create more! You'd think that human rights activists or some other group would be all over IVF like flies on shit because the bottom line is that for every white infant that is being created, there are probably five non-white babies who either won't be adopted or who are literally dying of starvation.confused smiley

If the money spent to create the 4+ million IVF babies was spent instead on saving the existing kids, then couldn't those "saved" kids then be adopted by the ones who are desperate enough to pay for IVF? Oh wait, that wouldn't work because those babies wouldn't be white and therefore not good self replicant facsimiles. This of course blows the alleged reason of, "We just want a child to love" all to hell and back.eye rolling smiley

If YOU are the "exception" to what I am saying, then why does my commentary bother you so much?
I don't hate your kids, I HATE YOU!

Ok, I hate IVF. I think it's cruel and stupid that people will waste thousands of dollars just to pass on their (possibly defective) genes, rather than do anything useful like, oh say, ADOPT!

Yes, I agree that the doctor was stupid for implanting that many embryos, but he's not at fault for the octuplets. Typically, women who get IVF have selective reductions if too many embryos start to grow. The woman, apparently, chose not to. She is the one at fault.

They aren't using the right term. He TRANSFERRED the embryos. It's up to Gawd or Nature whether they implant.

Back to topic: It's about damn time.

His greed is what got his license revoked. In the end the state of California and the US at large will be footing the bill for that clusterfuck of epic insanity... unless she breaks down and finally does porn.

It's about time, but a little too late.

Money speaks volumes, sweetheart. Apparently, he wanted a million dollars really bad. What a greedy ass, I agree.

Julie, I might be inclined to agree with you, except that Octomom was/is so mentally imbalanced and totally off her fucking rocker. In the case of a patient who is so fucking insane, it is the licensed medical professional's responsibility to evaluate the mental fitness of the patient and if needed, refuse the procedure. He didn't do that. He just saw the dollar signs and said "sure! why not?" He IS at fault. She's too crazy and stupid to know not to ask for more IVF. He should never have let her have it.

If a batshit woman goes into a plastic surgeon's office and says "I want you to take skin grafts from my butt cheeks and construct me fairy wings and attach them to my back so I can be a fairy and jump off a building next week to fly to magical cloud land and build my home in a buttercup", that surgeon ought to say "er...um...no."

Same thing.

If that's the case, no one should ever get IVF. All the better, I think.

I can't really blame people who do not want to adopt from other races/cultures. In a perfect world it wouldn't matter but those extra challenges are not for everyone. But if those people cannot breed naturally or adopt a child of their own race then tough. IVF was a horrible idea.

I'm inclined to agree. Case in point, a super yuppie couple (approaching their 40s), highly educated, kick-ass jobs, looks crunchy (woman wears no makeup, doesn't do her hair, and he has no style beyond khakis and loafers), drives an eco car, and both ejaculate all over themselves for Pork Slop events adopted 2 Chinese kids. Now the kids are young, they go to local elementary schools that have a 90% white population. They are bound to be a little confused when they get older and they move to Connecticut/Jersey/Long Island/New England/out West where in junior high and high school (because the schools here are BAD) and are bound to meet up with a plethora of rainbow kids- especially Asians. Asians are proud (face means everything), they are the model minority (but hate being so) and they will be quick to slice and dice them over being raised by whites. The favored racist slur, banana- yellow on the outside, white on the inside. You know the black actor from Bakersfield PD, Giancarlo Esposito? Mother black, father white, he and bro raised in Europe. Parents made the BIG mistake by ignoring the interracial thing, and the boys were a tad confused. So confused that they were scared shitless of their postman because he was a dark-skinned back man. See what I mean? And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
