Short version of the story:

A guy beats and cuts his girlfriend, she gets a restraining order, he (of course) ignores it, they get back together and she gets pregnant. Her mom, who she's living with, tries to keep him away from her and maybe encouraged her to have an abortion. (Not that it made any difference, since she proceeded immediately to have two more kids.)

Boyfriend somehow convinces girlfriend that everything would be juuuust fiiiiine if they could only get rid of her mother. Girlfriend leaves the back door of the house open so boyfriend can sneak in one night. While girlfriend is sleeping upstairs with the two kids, the guy beats the mom nearly to death, then leaves her in the trunk of her own car to suffocate in the summer sun for a day as one of the kids watches.

The two murdering idots then try three times to get money with the mother's ATM card without the PIN, then spend the rest of the day swimming, watching movies and having a steak dinner.

It's all worth it.

Stories like this really seal the deal on me not having kids. You could be the best parent, giving everything your child could need and want in order to become a well-adjusted and educated adult, and get murdered for your trouble. Maybe you tried to protect your daughter from an abusive asshole or you thought that maybe it's not healthy for your 16-year old to be romantically and sexually involved with a guy 10+ years her senior.
