Thoughts on disney vacations???

I went to Disney World in 1993, hated it. Infested with brats. Florida in January is almost as cold and wet as England in January!

I have kidless friends who like it but they avoid during breaks. However, it is still pretty lousy with kids.

I want to pick up a bus full of unruly kids and feed them gummi bears and crack, then turn them loose in Hobby Lobby to ransack the place. They will all be wearing T shirts that say "You Could Have Prevented This."

We have gone to Disney World many times during the off season, and love it. Of course there are children, but that doesn't spoil it for us. If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them. smiling smiley

Just avoid UK school holiday times and I believe March/April when the huge Brazilian groups visit.

I would guess the most heavily discounted times will be the best times with the least kid traffic. But I've heard there isn't much of an off season anymore for Disney.

We haven't been for a few years (2013), but as of then, there was still very much a difference between peak and off seasons. Obviously, that could have changed since then, but I would still hate to go during peak season, for the heat if nothing else.

I would likely go in January or February, just because it can be much more pleasant, weather-wise, but wouldn't entertain any hopes of the place having a smaller brat attendance. Parents come up with the smuggest reasons to keep their kids out of school.

We've gone in mid-February and early November and found the crowds to be drastically diminished (e.g., our longest wait time in line running about 45 minutes, and waiting that long for anything was the exception, not the rule). The weather also tends to be pretty nice, with days warm enough to swim, although we have been rained on twice. Boy, that cleared out the parks!

That is great news! A family member went 2 years ago and said there wasn't much a difference in price for the off season so I figured it must be overcrowded year round. Bet the famblees see the price not changing much and decide to mostly stick with traditional vacation/break times.

Ladybug2203 you've got some options for an enjoyable trip!

Last time I went was in late April 1999 and it was about as idyllic as imaginable, lines were short and the rain kept the crowds to a minimum. But that was 16 years ago.

Friend of mine went in October and was pretty surprised by the number of parents who brought kids (and how late she saw babies/kids out and about).

Why are you "professionally" curious, ladybug? I only ask because you've mentioned your line of work in the past and I can only imagine what you are up to.

I'd rather have my teeth pulled out with a pair of rusty pliers than go to Disneyland. Ugh. My aunt wanted to take me there in the spring and I politely declined. It's my worst nightmare come true! exploding face

Seriously Noodler? that's a bit judgemental, escorts do have a life outside their work you know, and we are not looking to perform our work every single location we go to. I know the media and law enforcement teaches you to believe that sex workers are public enemy #1 and we are lose cannons who turn tricks everywhere we go. I know its not socially acceptable yet but its a job, people have lives outside their jobs. Im professionally curious because I turn 30 in the spring and my folks want to take me on a trip, Disney was one of the ideas.

Honestly the notion that im going to disney to turn tricks sounds like something a dumbass breeder would say. I know better than to do this in a kids area, I might be a sex worker but I wasnt raised by wolves for Christs sake, nor do I have peanuts for brains.

Why bring the term professional curiosity in though? You know nothing of me and I don't care what you do for a living but you've told us so it just seemed odd. Actually I think prostitution should be legalized across the nation and not just in Nevada brothels. No one is drinking the spiked kool aid here. Cheese and rice. Chill out. We are all on the same team here.

Haven't been there since the late 70s as a child so I have no idea what it is like now. Have lots of good memories though, like telling mom Space Mountain was an educational ride and not a roller coaster. Mom was pissed but she lived to tell and laugh about the tale. She got back at sis and I by making us go on It's a Small World TWICE while dad and my 2 brothers hit the Haunted Mansion a second time on day 2 of the trip.

My sister is a travel agent that organizes school trips. I will ask her if her colleagues that handle regular travel for the other clients that might want to avoid crowds might know of a good time to go. Sister also takes many vacations to Mexican resorts that are adults only so that might be a good destination and would probably cost about the same. Disney is hella expensive from what I've heard!

But the way you phrased your question made me think, for a moment, that you were enquiring for a client that wanted a lady friend to go with him to Disney. Now that's a niche market! And me being me that used to pose nude for art students during college and sometimes nude danced in my 20s to make rent, I'd say go for it!

Really ladybug. I'm on your side more than you think.

Edit: a word.

Ok, sorry about that, its sometimes hard to tell expressions over the internet. "Professionally" curious was a figure of speech, not meant to be taken literally LOL!

yep, Mum, I can't imagine why anyone would want to be there! But then, I hate not only screaming kids, but also crowds of any kind (except for sometimes the odd concert or excellent political demonstration!), and $7 sodas, long lines, AND most amusement rides! So , there ya go. I always count "having to " go to amusement parks yet another strong reason not to have kids!

There is no way in the 9 levels of Hell I would go there. If I'm there, rest assured I have been kidnapped and am being held against my will.

That being said, the Boardwalk hotel thingies looked really nice but I could only imaging the feral brats running up and down knocking on doors at all hours of the night forcing me to feed the alligators. I figured if I want to go to a boardwalk hotel, I would just hit up New Orleans and not deal with the brats.

I was equally confused. To me, professional means I don't have a personal stake in the matter, I'm only inquiring for business reasons, whereas personal means I want to know for my own reasons, unrelated to work.

But I know nothing about Disney, so that's why I didn't comment earlier.

Not fan of disney. Of course you could go down, hit the beach and other stuff besides the rat house.

My wife and I got married and honeymooned at Disney. We bough the deluxe dining plan, while we were dining on filet mignon, the parents were probably trying to get their brats to eat their $10 hot dog. While they were getting they sugar high kids to settle down, we were having mind blowing sex.

It was just the two of us (obviously), and we noticed something, the moos were laughing and skipping with their kids, the dads looked dead inside while saddled with the stroller and all the shit they carry around.
