A person who was devastated tried to plant a sapling in it's place, but it was removed.

I have no idea what makes so many teens and brats be so destructive. Never acted like that and most people I know didn't either.

This is an excellent example to tell fencesitters if they think they'll be breeding the next genius who saves the world. You could tell them that you're more likely to wind up with something like this.

I have since found out that a farmer paid the kid and others to fell the tree for development as it was technically on private property. Still more people, more development and more beautiful things just getting in the way and ending up destroyed

Just think of what his development will look like in 300 years. They don't build 'em like they used to.

I remember accidentally breaking stuff when I was a child and a teen, but it was always an “oh shit” moment followed by running away or concealing the evidence. But with these kids, it’s different. I worked with them when they were in elementary school, and more recently I’ve worked with the same cohort of students now that they are in college. They do all of it intentionally, and take pride in it.
