Yeah, the guy who abused me appeared to be a 'nice guy' in public and to everyone else, but behind closed doors, he was a monster.

I don't know the guy in the OP's story, so I can't say for sure, but it is something that can't be excluded. The kyd is 10. Maybe she stuck it out for as long as she could before leaving?

It could also be that they grew apart and she wants to move on to other pastures. Either way, if she wants to leave him, she doesn't love him anymore and they are better off without each other.

Couldn't give a fuick about abusive pricks, my dads one in his personal life and I do not believe he's a nice guy at all
