This one is at the point of total amusement:
Apparently the family rented a large boat and took it out on a sail. After anchoring it a 20 year old genius on board jumped overboard for a swim and drowned. According to the family the company that rented out the boat was supposed to add that to the rental contract, that no one on the boat should jump off the boat as that could lead to injury or death and the ocean has turned out to be a dangerous place and the boat company needs to remind people of that.
I guess I can understand a 20 year old male being a dumbass as they can be at that age with no feeling of mortality and being full of optimism, but the family knew no one would dare say anything negative to them due to this being a tragedy

Okay, I don't want to defend people treating the ocean like a swimming pool, but it looks like it might be a little more complicated than that. He was grabbed by a riptide, and apparently the crew didn't utilize any of the safety equipment to try to save him and also didn't warn people that weather conditions were such to create dangerous tides.
I agree that people can't go flinging themselves into the ocean like it's nothing (I put this in the same category as people wandering into the wilderness only to be surprised that there's wildlife and weather exposure out there), but it sounds like there might actually be some negligence on the part of the charter crew. Maybe we'll find out more as the lawsuit drags out.
