1152 Handouts
March 31, 2006
I've experienced this group before. In fact, I think it was the news show 20/20 that did a segment on this group years ago. Supposedly, they are groups of homeless, runaways that are toted around in vans to invade neighborhoods to sell magazines. I forget a lot of the facts, but I do remember that they get hooked up with this group, and are told they have to sell so much per day if they want to have their basic needs met. Kids in the interview were telling about how they would go days without food if they didn't make enough sales.
I had one of these gypseys knocked at my door last year, one of those familiar "shave and a haircut" types of knocks. I thought it was my neighbor, or my husband, as he was due home from work. Like an idiot, I opened the door. This waif turd immediately stuck his foot in my door so I couldn't shut it, and proceeded to tell me about this contest that he was participating in, the same crap you heard about-- points for college. I was really frightened by the foot in the door, and slammed it as hard as I could on him while he was spewing his bullshit. Amazingly, my husband pulled in the driveway while this was going on. My husband ran up the drive, grabbed this guy, pinned him to the ground, and placed him under citizen's arrest. We laugh about his now because my husband is the most non-physically agressive person I know. While I called the police, this guy was crying like a baby, and begging my husband to let him go while telling him about how he was an orphaned refugee from somewhere. When the police showed up, they told us this was the third call they had received in the past hour about these kids. He fell for their sob story, and their only punishment was to be escorted out of town by the police. They were back again this year, though. I did learn my lesson about opening the door without looking out the window first. Little fuck sticks!
