I can see it now, the kid will walk away with a slap on the wrist - no punishment by the mother whatsoever. The kid will learn that it's OK to lash out when you are SKEEEERED.
And what was the mother doing fighting with a neighbor? Isn't having kids supposed to make you a better person?
