Mom charged with assault in beating of 16-year-old at mall

The mother accused of launching a brutal beat-down of a 16-year-old at the Natick Mall last week has a record that includes 26 prior guilty pleas for various crimes, prosecutors said yesterday.

This time, Marilyn Camacho, 40, of Framingham faces charges of launching a hair-pulling and kicking attack on a teen at the mall along with her own 12-, 13- and 16-year-old daughters.

Natick District Court Judge Andrew D’Angelo ordered Camacho held on $1,000 bail yesterday. She is already being held on $5,000 bail out of the Framingham Juvenile Court, where she is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Camacho’s bail on a previous assault case has also been revoked, meaning even if she paid the two bails, she would still be held at MCI-Framingham.

Prosecutor Kristen Ragosta requested $5,000 bail, citing the ferocity of the attack that sent the young victim to the hospital.

“Numerous witnesses said they saw the four females, including the defendant, push the victim against a glass wall, pulling her hair and knocking her to ground, kicking her all over her body,” the prosecutor said. “It appears the mother was the initial instigator.”

Camacho, who’s charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct and affray, has pleaded guilty 26 times to various crimes and has served time six different times, Ragosta said. Camacho also defaulted on appearances 21 times.

Camacho’s sister, Sari Figueroa of Framingham, said security video from mall that captured the attack will vindicate her sibling. She said the alleged victim started the incident by throwing a drink in the face of one of Camacho’s daughters.

“The truth will come out,” she said.

Even if the victim did throw a drink, that doesn't justify sending her to the hospital. The mother should have called security to report it.
