... that you didn't like children?
For me, I was still a kid myself when I discovered I disliked kids. I was probably 8 or 9 when I was told the story of Hellen Keller. I hated her. To me, her food-grabbing, spoiled-brat, violent, insolent and unreasonable behaviour was -- physical handicaps aside -- typical of 'the-kind-of-kid-you-hate'. Her parents were pathetic. I didn't care how she suddenly got a clue one day at the waterpump -- she was a hateful brat and that was it for me. And I didn't understand why Annie Sullivan didn't get any of the praise and notoriety that the Keller girl did.
