I can't believe all the complaints she gets over a silly mannequin. Who cares! Its just a piece of foam and cardboard. Nothing more.

Perhaps it should be more true to life? Have it play some typical moooooo every couple minutes...

Personally, I couldn't care less what window dressing maternity shops use because I wouldn't make a second glance at the store anyway. However, I think it does send a message that members of the general public feel that "racy" lingerie should not be associated with pregnancy NOR does anyone want to see sexy black bars with nursing flaps where suckling can latch on while daddy has his way with mommy, or any number of other sexual visuals it might give people.

I think they are saying is that pregnancy is NOT sexy and breastfeeding is REALLY not to be associated with sexual activity and that to do so in public is gross and distasteful. I think that's why it offended some people. If she had only dressed "Emily" in a conservative nightie, I think preggos would have gotten the idea of what she sells and they could have come into the store and loaded up on lacy nursing bras. They could wear these while playing kinky nursing games with hubby while baybee is latched on, or when she plays with herslef while nursing, or perhaps even only wear the sexy one while nursing in public, since it's a proven sexual act for many of them anyway. Why not just go on and add some hosiery and garter belts while they are at it and admit it for what it really is, which apparently isn't just for baybee to get fed.

That is a good point, kim- letting them know where they can get stuff but suggesting that mothers to be have a RIGHT to be presented as sexual dynamos is extremely tacky. It's another area where breeders can't decide.

It seems appropriate to me for a vendor of maternity lingerie to have a realistic model. I don't get why some of the town residents got upset at all. I think Kim hit it on the head; the linking of sexual enjoyment and pregnancy is a bit too rich for some. Or too close to home.

Another thing related to this that MWR made me think of is this new trend that prenasty=sexy. It's like these God awful commercials trying to sneak it in on society that obesity is synonymous with sexy. Now, there is a HUGE difference in being what I consider a "normal" but larger than average size and being in decent shape and in having loads of fat and cellulite hanging out everywhere. ONE looks nice and is healthy and I consider that to be "full figured" or busty/hippy,perhaps even slightly overweight. However, some of these ads and articles would have us to believe that fat=sexy when it clearly DOES NOT.

What kills me is these 300 lb women who LOVE to say that Marilyn Monroe wore a size 16. First of all, that's debateable. My guess would be closer to a 12. She may have ONE time wore a 16 which was cut small or had to wear that size because she was voluptuous. Women who weigh in excess of 300 lbs do NOT have 24-28 inch waists like Marilyn had at varous times, and I seriously doubt any of them could get one of their thighs into a size 16, which isn't all that big a size anyway. Most of them are wearing sizes 26 and above or just wearing strtch pants. Yet, every triple burger whopper chomper insists that Marily Monroe is their fucking poster model, and it is simply not true.

It's the same with preggos. I think that like the Marilyn wannabees, they envision themselves as looking like someone like Nicole Kidman when they are preggo. The fact of the matter is that they are ugly, she has a pretty face, she started out thin, they were whales to begin with, she is rich and can afford special chefs/trainers, etc, they are on welfare and waste more gas waiting in fast food lines in a week than I use in a whole month. They are PRETENDING that preggo is sexy, when it couldn't be further from the truth. I have never personally known any male who thought a pregnant woman was sexy, including their own husbands.

Deep down, they HAVE to know this. They have eyes and a mirror don't they?
