The Cookie Monster already got hit by that line of thought a while back; some tripe about "a cookie is a sometimes food".
Everyone who grew up in the '70s watching Scooby-Doo knew that Shaggy was probably a stoner, hence the constant munchies. Most parents back then never really caught on, but the kids knew. The live-action Scooby-Doo movie several years ago explicitly portrayed Shaggy as a pothead, complete with smoke in the back of the Mystery Machine van.

The old Warner Bros. and Tex Avery cartoons until about 1960 were never intended for kyds at all. Theaters originally showed them with movies geared toward adults, meaning that relatively few children would be among the audience. Along with the cultural references, these cartoons routinely dealt with a lot of adult themes such as lust that younger children of the time simply wouldn't understand. There was some stink in the 1980s when network TV began bowdlerizing some of the violence from the Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck cartoons shown on Saturday mornings.

Speaking of Cookie Monster, there was a skit in an episode of Family Guy showing him in rehab for his cookie addiction,

Here's what I don't understand...if we abide by the "cartoons = for kids" argument, why is it parents scream and bitch about how awful any cartoons are basically from 2000 back because they are offensive and contain themes that will taint the innocent child viewers....BUT, no one ever whines about The Simpsons or Family Guy? There's not subtle references to sex or drugs or booze in those - they are blatant, up-front references.

So why only old shows? I guarantee there are parents who let their kids watch The Simpsons or Family Guy because it's a cartoon and is, therefore, solely for da childhrunz.

Animation is a special creation that would NEVER have existed if it wasn't for the invention of camera and filmmaking.

And stupid parunts are completely RUINING it for "the sake" of their stupid brood.

They'll probably NOT want talking animals to exist anymore because they're just...not true to life.yawning smiley
