I think it's too much money as well, given that most women who have revenge porn posted of them will have no recourse at all. What we need are changing attitudes toward female nudity: "I saw nude pictures of so-and-so" deserves a shrug and the kind of look you'd give a co-worker who said something homophobic and completely out of touch at the water cooler.

I'm not saying that people who are sexually attracted to women will stop wanting to see women naked, only that it needs to stop being considered shameful for a woman to have been seen naked. So she gets naked. So she has sex. So fucking what? Puritan notions of purity need to fucking die already.

She argued financial loss, but the hotel lawyers proved the opposite happened. Her argument was that her likeness was used. She was a mediocre sideline reporter for college football who knocked out a good reporter because she was deemed "hotter". She got even more famous and hired for better jobs after the naked twerking video. An occasional mean tweet about how she should have sued McDonalds instead of Marriott (I guess she is not all that naked) is enough to send her into major depression...how is 55 million going to fix that.

The hotel will appeal, stalker with BK out and she won't get shit. She maintains they gave her number away. The stalker explains in great detail how he found her and no employee was apparently involved (he taped her in another hotel too, so wait for that lawsuit to hit next). She never told hotel people she had a restraining order out, nor did she warn them about a stalker but they are apparently supposed to be mind readers? I worked in a hotel, and you did not question why someone wanted a certain room, floor or number.

She did get justice in criminal courts. Suing the stalker should have been enough.

Could it be that explicit photos are not allowed on school property at all, even on a private phone? In that case she broke a rule I suppose. If she had a naked photo in her desk and a kid found it would it be the same?

Some schools have very screwy rules regarding teachers that affects their personal lives. Based on what I've heard from teachers even if her nude photos were Polaroids in a locked safe in a closet and the brat broke into her house and stole them, she would be in trouble since the brats might think that kind of thing as ok. One teacher friend told me a teacher at his public school was fired for walking into a bar. The friend was there to drive his drunk friend home. A local news crew was there and a parent saw him in the background and called the principal. The contract the teachers sign with this district pretty much prohibits them from doing anything a high school student can't do. Friend is part of a program that will pay his student loans as long as he teaches for 5 years, when the gets the letter saying his loans are paid he's finding a non teaching job.

I guess I'm one of the few people who finds it rather stupid that she had those photos on a phone she brings to work in the first place. I'm not saying she deserved what she got, certainly not. I think she should've realized that kids are assholes, and that something like this could happen.

I wouldn't trust my naked photos on any electronic device, especially a phone...not that anyone would want to see them, but still...shit like this can happen. Kids are very savvy where it comes to this stuff, but stupid in life.

I hope the kid is charged, although he will probably get nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
